The Boot Room – FPL Fantasy Premier League GW21
With less than nine days to go and counting until the next deadline we all have plenty of thinking and tinkering time left… The January Wildcard is now available should you feel inclined to use it. Will you activate it immediately, possibly with a view to maximising your team value or will you wait until the transfer window has shut and judge what impact that has had, if any? Whichever you decide is the best strategy for you ahead of the next game-week we welcome your questions and also your advice to others. Please feel free as ever to post your thoughts, questions and feelings about whatever you want to but in particular if you would like others to take a look at your team ahead of GW21 and offer their thoughts and suggestions please post it below or link it and we are sure you will get plenty of feedback. Some of which may be constructive but we can’t promise anything!
Hey guys, happy new year. My WC is active and I’d appreciate any feedback on my first draft WC team.
Mannone McGregor
Ward Chester Mertesacker Coleman Whittaker
Walcott Hazard Cabaye Toure Mutch
Rooney Suarez Rodriguez
1.1 left in the vault to drop Rooney for Aguero once he’s fit.
I’m not 100% set on my keepers yet. The plan as of now is to go with 2 budget keepers who rotate well, but I’d prefer Speroni to Mannone. I just don’t want to double up with CP back there and I like Ward.
Also, does anyone know what’s up with Gazzaniga and why Kelvin Davies started over him for Southampton?
Thanks for any and all feedback!
Marshall rotates with Speroni/Mannone godd way of getting some cheap Cardiff cover
Or rotate ward with B Turner and drop Whittaker
Yaya – Silva to save cash other option also Hazard – Oscar might then get Gerrard or Eriksen in the midfield
CP have tightened up in defence, and doubling up there could give you a “differential” (if you believe in that guff) You’re doubling up on Hull, so why not CP as well?
Gazzaniga has looked shaky, tho so did Davies.
I wouldn’t get Rooney, as he’s playing deeper again and is looking tired. Adebayor instead, perhaps.
I still rate Gerrard he’s miles above lallana n co. Oscar getting 90 mins, well that depends if you got hazard
anyone mind looking at my team
Krul (Henderson)
Mertasacker Chico distin (Demel and chambers)
Yaya toure hazard Mirallas sterling (Amalfitano)
Suarez Rooney lukaku
1ft 0.2 in the bank
Krul is good.
Chico has tough fixtures, whereas Demel and Chambers are not nailed.
Cant argue with Yaya (albeit I have and been burned). I think Sterling is rotation risk as is Amalfitiano. Mirallas has been patchy.
Cant argue with forward line
Chico – short term tough (2 games)
Anyone you would replace Chico for fonte? And mirallas out ? In
Shaw/Gabbidon/Ward or Collucini (injured at mo tho).
Mirallas is ok, but could go for Cabaye or Lallana
Had a look mate and agree with what Dreamers say.
You’ve got Everton, Southampton and Arsenal in defence which is good, but then Swansea and West Ham. Just feel there are better options out there at same price.
Sterling will be the loser now Stevie G back imo, and Amalfitano struggles for game time.
B-Bash, another Liverpol fan, I might have known! Are you from there mate? (that’s not a dig if you are not, btw!)
Innit, I’m in Cheshire mate. Stuck right in the middle of Manchester and Liverpool. Unfortunately surrounded by Man U fans round here.
Am a season ticket holder.
B-Bash – Really? Where, exactly. I had a feeling you were close hence me asking, don’t ask why! I only ask because I live in Cheshire too! Culcheth in Warrington to be exact.
Innit! I worked in Warrington for years!! Know Culcheth well! I’m in Northwich
B-Bash you will know the Cherry Tree in the center then? – I’m about 2 mins walk from that as we speak!
I do know Cherry Tree mate. Would be great to have a beer there at some point. Could proper pick your brain!!
It’s a date then B-Bash! I may be picking yours though as I’m floundering at 14k and you are 62nd in the world!
What’s the chances.. I’m from Northwich (Kingsmead)
Only just seen message mate. Yes, date! 😉
Me and Simms will catch a taxi and we’ll fpl and wc ourselves senseless!
I may have to get to know Simms92 a little bit better before I agree to a blind-date threesome to be fair!
Haha probably for the best 😉
Its in his name Inittowinit..
B-bash = Bootle becomes another soccer haven
Potty
Bootle! Barnton……village I live in. Brother in law convinced me to do fpl last season and couldnt think of anything more original. Wish I’d given it more thought now!
Ps, thanks Warrior!
There’s nothing wrong with being a Pool fan
Kop there certainly isn’t. I have to say that or the Liverpool supporting Mrs may boot me out! We have a battle on our hands for the kids football allegiances though – we support Everton and Liverpool but live in a Manchester dominated principality. Could be interesting….!
Oh you cant let them become Mancs…..
Kop I think I will let them both fall where they may. Could be an interesting household in 10 years though if we have a Liverpool fan, an Everton fan, a City fan and a Utd fan…
Ah no I agree mate, you’ve got to let them decide for themselves. My dad & my grandfather who lived next door were massive united fans, yet I ended up supporting Liverpool
Anything but red Mancs! Have same problem! Son 9, cant make up his feckin mind between Liverpool, Everton and Man U. I’ve spent money takin him to Anfield ffs! Daughter, 5, will not take her LFC kit off!!! SWEET! 😉

My wildcard team- appreciate thoughts (got itchy fingers)
Mignolet, Davis
Merte, Chester,Brown, Clyne,Ward
Silva, Lallana, Walcott, Hazard, Whittingham
Rooney, Suarez, Lukaku
Freddie.
If your doing a Wildcard team surely one must include Baines???
Potty
bit expensive though Potty
Freddie.
If you dont find space for him you may regret it.
Baines is the key for Everton getting a top 4 slot.
Potty
you think Everton will make top 4? I don’t.
I agree with Potty, though. Baines is like having an extra midfielder. You could afford him if you get Adebayor instead of Rooney.
Hey guys ranked 2000 or so in the world sitting on 1296 pts. With the wildcard coming to fruition Im considering using it this gw to make drastic changes. My current team is too similar too every team around me and at this rate I find hard to climb up any higher in the global leader boards.
Current team;
Guzan, (Daniels)
Coleman, Zabaleta, Johnson, (Chester and Chambers)
Hazard, Walcott, Nasri, Henderson, (Morrison)
Suarez (C), Rooney, Lukaku
Wildcard Team
Szczesny, (Davies)
Coleman, Zabaleta, Evans, (Chester and McNaughton)
Hazard, Walcott, SIlva, Gerrard, Sterling
Suarez (C), Rooney, (Chamakh)
With this new team I will have defensive coverage from the majority of top 7/8. Where I forfeit coverage with Chelsea and Liverpool, I make up for this buy carrying each respected team midfielders. This will help limit any damage by Chelsea/Liverpool clean sheets. I have opted to change my formation to 3-5-2 essentially switching out Lukaku for Gerrard. This season Gerrards overall play/performance has arguably declined, however his set piece delivery/fantasy point return has been top notch. I also hope to reap the benefits of Raheem Sterlings great form. Sterling is playing more of wide forward role(Similar to Walcott) compared to wide midfielder (yes I know some say potatoes some say potatoes but you catch my drift) and at 5.2 million and at 7.2 % you cant really go wrong.
Now some of my concerns with this team is that it leaves me with 0 bank. Meaning if any of these players rise in price over the next week I will lose out on this opportunity to build his fantasy dream team ;).
Any opinion or feedback is much appreciated.
Cheers!

Hi Josh
WC keepers is better.
Is McNaughton now back in mix at Cardiff – was on loan.
Do you think Sterling will play? I don’t. I think its Sturridge/Coutinho and Suarez unless it becomes to popular 4:2:3:1 which is possible.
Zab has not recaptured the form of last year.
Did you consider a double up of Oscar/Hazard?
any thoughts on mine above?
