The Boot Room – FPL Fantasy Premier League GW21
With less than nine days to go and counting until the next deadline we all have plenty of thinking and tinkering time left… The January Wildcard is now available should you feel inclined to use it. Will you activate it immediately, possibly with a view to maximising your team value or will you wait until the transfer window has shut and judge what impact that has had, if any? Whichever you decide is the best strategy for you ahead of the next game-week we welcome your questions and also your advice to others. Please feel free as ever to post your thoughts, questions and feelings about whatever you want to but in particular if you would like others to take a look at your team ahead of GW21 and offer their thoughts and suggestions please post it below or link it and we are sure you will get plenty of feedback. Some of which may be constructive but we can’t promise anything!
all other things being equal…
kos or sagna?
Sagna if you are looking for an attacking threat too. Has more shots on goal than Kosc.
+1
thanks gents!
any other opinions?
Mate, it is we who should be seeking your input!
I guess at this stage you would no doubt be thinking how to break into the top 50-100. I haven’t reviewed the top teams yet, but I would imagine they are very similar. With that in mind, I presume JRod is the “point of differentiation” that you’re looking for? Are you still looking to go 3-4-3 / 4-3-3? If you are genuinely looking to take this thing out, then some risk taking may be necessary. My strategy for the next third of the season is to completely sacrifice my defense to have a monster 5-man midfield. High risk but boy if it works….
James – how are your plans for world domination going?
i’m around 800 mate.
patience is a turtle!
not using theWC yet
i held my FT from last week – so thinking of JRod plus Kos/sagna in
lukaku / davies (villa) out
for a couple of weeks only so…
Good to hear mate. Sensational stuff! Don’t remind me about patience. I lost it a few months ago and it caused a chain of events that I’ve only just corrected. Fell 190,000 places during that time as well. Still cannot believe that 1 impatient transfer can cause things to unravel!
I played my Jan WC immediately (still have season-long one in hand). Working hard towards 3-5-2. Interesting that you’ve transferred Lukaku out. Is he part of your post-WC plans? He could make or break me.
It has to be Sagna, James. Have you seen his WAG? My goodness.
oooohhh yeah!
on that basis, you’d choose Vermaelen!!
Cookie I just had to do a google check, and to be honest: I’d double up on the Arsenal defense then!
I wouldn’t argue with that Milky !!
What’s Cheryl Cole doing these days?
3-5-2 thoughts?
Speroni – Marshall
Mertesacker – Dawson – Coleman – Santon – Clyne
Hazard – Walcott – Cabaye – Silva – Lallana
Suarez – Welbeck – Chamakh
Can also do Oscar instead of Hazard, and then Gerrard instead of Lallana.
I understand concerns over Suarez and Welbeck being up top, but understand that’s not the area of the team the points will come from.
G’day Flingy. My personal view is that Hazard is a must. Gerrard is part of my 3-5-2 plans, so thumbs up from me. Berahino has emerged as the third striker for me. In better form than Chamakh, is an all-round better player than Chamakh, and is 0.3m cheaper from memory. This might free up some funds to bolster the midfield even further.
Seems pretty good Flingy. Not too sure about Santon though due to recent suspensions/injuries at the back in the team.
Clyne also kind of shaky right now.
But the overall team seems interesting.
I’m not convinced on this 3-5-2 craze…..
So long as Potty doesn’t adopt it, then it works for me
Flingy – what is your plan for Welbeck when rvp returns?
Prob could save yourself some by having Chester or a Ward and the back.
Not sure a whole load of striking options exist at the moment either
blue_moon – nice tip on Berahino, I hadn’t even thought about him. I generally just want a player who appears every match.
The B – Debuchy was my first choice (already have him, actually) but the red card and suspension has put that off a bit. Santon was the only other option, been performing OK of late.
Cookie – simply the options for strikers is stale. If Aguero were back again I’d probably not be doing the 3-5-2, but he isn’t so I feel it’s worth a gamble.
Dreamers – van Persie is off soon mate! Doesn’t like Moyes, said he joined for Fergie, doesn’t like the way the team plays. Even if he doesn’t go, I don’t think Welbeck will be put out with the goals he’s scoring.
Flingy, I hear you completely, but Aguero is back soon – therefore why not wait until he is back to play the wc, if you really want him, or at least construct your team with a short-term feel that can accommodate Aguero when fit ?
A big seas change in formation would make that much more difficult to then adapt back when he is fit.
flingy – That looks pretty good,i have my doubts about Welbeck though,i don’t think he’s going to get enough points,Suarez/Aguero is the perfect two for it i think, having those two then makes it tough to keep a steady defence together with a nice midfield,i’ve found it difficult to get the right balance with this formation so have decided to scrap the idea.
Morning everyone,
Any chance of a RMT?
Howard
Chester Distin Sagna
Yaya Oscar Wally Lallana
Suarez Lukaku Adebayor
Subs: Foster Mutch Ward Williamson
WC active. £0.5m in the bank.
Thanks.
Does Howard really rotate well with Foster?
And i dont like the idea of doubling up on Everton, given the fact that Everton hasnt been convincing lately on the CS area.
The rest is great, but do you have an exit plan when Aguero returns?
I just did Distin to Skrtel
Morning all. Could you have a look at my team?
GK: Guzan (Myhill)
def: Terry, Coleman, Gabbidon (Chico, Davies)
Mid: Yaya, Walcott, hazard, Januzaj (cabaye)
For: Suarez, Lukaku, negredo
1ft, £1.1m in bank
I am planning on holding onto my wc until later in the month. My thoughts are to use my FT this week on my GK, perhaps upgrading Guzan to either Szczesny or Howard to tide me over until I change Myhill with my WC.
Any thoughts?
Morning Seren,
looks solid enough – for the keeper, I’d take Szczesny as you already have Coleman.
Shezny is definitely a top pick.
Thanks guys. I was leaning towards Szcznesy.
How does this look:
Marshall-Ruddy
Coleman-Koscielny-Bardsley-Ward-Chester
Walcott-Sillva-Oscar-Gerrard-Eriksen
Aguero (alt until, his return) Suarez-J Rod
Possibly be able to afford Hazard still until. Aguero returns
Thanks
All non-WC players, we need many luck in coming GW in Cup.
Lets hope we all are drawn with opponents who do not play WC early, to have a fair game.
On the other hand, WC players this GW should have a comparative advantage in cup.
Let the luck be with us all.
