The DGW fixtures have been announced! Some of them…

Welcome to The DGW fixtures have been announced! Some of them….Having kept us in suspense for four days longer than we thought, the Premier League have at last started to release the dates of the rearranged fixtures. We now have a clear picture of DGW34, while the specific dates for the remaining fixtures still have to be officially revealed, although most indicators point to these matches being accommodated into GW37.

So, these are the rearranged matches that are now part of DGW34:

Brighton vs Spurs
Bournemouth vs Man Utd
Burnley vs Chelsea
Leicester vs Southampton

Therefore the following teams have two matches in DGW34:

Bournemouth (liverpool, MAN UTD)
Brighton (crystal palace, SPURS)
Burnley (LEICESTER, CHELSEA)
Chelsea (southampton, burnley)
Leicester (burnley, SOUTHAMPTON)
Man Utd (WBA, bournemouth)
Southampton (Chelsea, leicester)
Spurs (MAN CITY, brighton)

What else is there to know about DGW34?

The weekend after DGW34 finishes sees the semi-finals of the FA Cup which sees Chelsea vs Southampton and Spurs vs Man Utd. Given that all four clubs have a DGW34, it is possible that we see some rotation for their second match of DGW34, just days before their semi-final.

Liverpool have an attractive looking match in DGW34 as they host Bournemouth at Anfield. However, it may be worth noting that Liverpool go to Man City in the Champions League quarter-final 2nd leg just days before GW34.

What matches are left to be rescheduled?

Chelsea vs Huddersfield
Leicester vs Arsenal
Man City vs Brighton
Swansea vs Southampton
Spurs vs Newcastle
West Ham vs Man Utd

The Premier League has said that these matches will be rescheduled by Tuesday 3 April, i.e. just before GW33. The obvious week for all these matches to be rescheduled is GW37 as there is no European football scheduled for that week. It is possible, though unlikely, that some matches are rescheduled into GW35 or GW36. None of the matches will be added to DGW34. DGW37 really is the obvious week for all six matches and assuming this is confirmed, this will be the schedule for the DGW teams:

Arsenal (BURNLEY, leicester)
Brighton (MAN UTD, man city)
Chelsea (LIVERPOOL, HUDDERSFIELD)
Huddersfield (man city, chelsea)
Leicester (WEST HAM, ARSENAL)
Man City (HUDDERSFIELD, BRIGHTON)
Man Utd (brighton, west ham)
Newcastle (watford, spurs)
Southampton (everton, swansea)
Swansea (bournemouth, SOUTHAMPTON)
Spurs (west brom, NEWCASTLE)
West Ham (leicester, MAN UTD)

First glance observations (assuming the above is confirmed for DGW37)

DGW37 is bigger than DGW34 with 12 teams playing twice in DGW37 compared to 8 in DGW34. Does this offer a better opportunity for Bench Boost? On the face of it the answer is ‘possibly’, although by the time DGW37 arrives much may already be decided in terms of Man City winning the league, top four and relegation which could see teams rotate more than normal.

Chelsea, Leicester and Man City all enjoy two home games.

Huddersfield, Man Utd, Newcastle, Southampton all face two away matches.

Spurs face West Brom and Newcastle with Harry Kane likely back from injury. Remember how he finished last season? A possible Triple Captain candidate?

Either Spurs or Man United and very likely Chelsea (assume they beat Southampton) will be preparing for the FA Cup Final which falls a week after the end of the season. More threat of rotation….unless of course their top four spot is not secure!

Man City could be preparing for a Champions League final, Arsenal could be preapring for a Europa Cup final.

There are clearly lots of ‘ifs, whats and maybes’ – time will only tell. For those still to play their wildcard, maybe it pays to wait for as long as possible and act on the best possible information.

Whatever your position, thoughts and plans, please be sure to share your ideas on the chat below. This is the crucial part of the season – mini-leagues will be won and lost on how we play our remaining chips and tackle the DGWs. Every idea is worthwhile, everyone has their view – there is not necessarily a right and a wrong way.

    Fine summary Cookie.

Thanks pal. I might be able to form some Tips now …

Thanks Cookie, that’s a very good overview, guess I’ll have to start planning properly now then!

At first glance I’m still fairly sure I’ll be using the FH in 34, WC in 36 and BB in 37. This allows me to set up for 35 with 10 or so with the advance transfers. That’s unless I’m overlooking something obvious but that’ll become apparent later when the spreadsheets are dusted off and set to work!

Many thanks for this Cookie. Are people looking at going with 14/15 DGWers for 34? After looking at this I’m thinking of doubling up on Leicester, Chelsea and United for 34 then filling the rest of the team with players that have good fixtures. The weaker teams don’t really have the best DGWs.

Also did anyone hear Southgate talking shit? According to him England don’t have a keeper that is no.1 at there club and playing consistently… He obviously hasn’t been watching the same Pope, Pickford or Butland that I have!! He just has a massive hard on for Hart and wants him to start! Twat!

I think I screwed up! Played my WC this week because my team was full of red flags and players having lost their place and now I think I’ve screwed myself. I have all my chips and have only just remembered you can’t play BB and FH in the same week so playing them in 37 is out of the question which means I have to play BB in 34 which isn’t really the best. I think I’m spiralling now. Can anyone give me any ideas?

      • AT says:

Why not free hit in GW35? I think I’d prep to cover both DGWs and free hit in the blank.

      • Smash10 says:

I see it like the rubbish had to go out my team. Need the points now and don’t want to wait. Set wildcard up for GW34, free hit in GW35 as there will be a lot not playing and then make adjustments for GW37 is which City players are still playing. A lot of the players you will want double twice anyway. Then bench boost/TC in GW34 or GW37 unless you fancy Salah any week

        • Matt says:

Cheers lads. I can see that point in that now. It’s the Free Hit that was annoying me because I forgot it was only for the one week so I had set up my plans for a 3rd WC kind of thing. I’d say BB might be better in 37 with a United player as TC in 34 or if Salah is coming up against a really poor defence.

      Smash10 says:

None of the GK options are great. Pickford has made positional errors, Butland general errors like throwing the ball in his own net. Hart is a disaster. And Pope I said the following about is a bit different Possibly it’s a big ask though. The risk is pretty huge. Just 5 months or so playing premier league. At Burnley where pressure is less. the pressure of playing for England is massive in possibly the most pressured position on the field. He’s come from non league as well. So it’s not really that simple even if he’s potentially the best option it’s not like there is long now till World Cup.

As for fantasy think I’d be better set up for bench boost in GW34 but I won’t have 15 prob 12 or 13. Think I’m going with 3 Leicester on wild card and think I’ve ditched the Swansea players.

      • inittowinit says:

I honestly don’t see the point in playing the BB if it’s for 1 player mate. I know Salah is different but in theory you can have 8 extra games out of your players, take Salah out and it’s 6. I’d be going for the full 6 just on the laws of probability.

      • Matt says:

I personally think Pope should be given the nod and play over all of them. I understand the argument for the others but Smalling came from Non-League as did Vardy. Pope just seems to have learned the most in a quick time period so why not stick him in? It’s not like England are going to win the World Cup and I see it as more a tournament where the younger players should be given experience for the next tournament.

I’m thinking Mahrez and Vardy and possibly a defender but I’m liking the cheap Swansea players plus Fabianski with his save points.

        • Smash10 says:

It’s different. They did come from non league but both played in premier league for a lot longer at bigger clubs than Burnley. There are bigger clubs in championship than Burnley. Plus GK is the most pressured position on the field. Personally I’d go for Pickford

        • Matt says:

Pickford is a good choice but then again anyone but Hart us a good choice!

I know Heaton is returning but Hart has only played one game since November so how he has even earned a place in that team is beyond me.

    Smash10 says:

I think this is my current wild card team. Any suggestions? Where’s Mitro I’ve not seen a wild card draft for a few hours. Still not sure if it’s better suited to bench boost in GW34 or GW37.
