Fantasy Football The FF247 Community Team

fantasy football team tips hintsWhat do Heart of Midlothian, AFC Wimbledon and Galatasaray have in common?
They are all football clubs owned and operated by their supporters.
So?
So, I thought that seeing as this works brilliantly within (some) football clubs, then I wondered if this could be transferred to the fantasy world. A hugely talented fantasy player friend of mine first mooted this idea this close season and it got me to thinking, what if we did have our FF247 community represented as a single entity this coming season? I wondered if it could work. I wondered how it would work. I wondered if people would like the idea or how popular it could grow to be. I wondered if the FF247 Community Team could be the first supporter-owned team to win the World Title.
As far as I am aware, there is no other fantasy site with a community team. So are you with me?
Alright, first of all, the selection of everything to do with our team will be “one member, one vote”.
Basically if you go as far as to log in and leave a message to a supporter vote question, then you are a member.
So here is how it will work.

Initial selection
We will firstly vote to decide on our preferred playing formation.
The second vote will be to ask how you think the money in our team should be shared across all four playing positions.
Thirdly and most excitingly of all, the next vote will determine our first player.
I think it is fairest and most sensible to select players alternatively by position in turn beginning with strikers and working back through the team so we would vote thus:
Striker /Midfielder /Defender /Goalkeeper then returning to Striker to continue.
Ahead of each vote I would gauge the popularity of particular players through your discussions and early RMT enquiries and present to you a selection for you to vote for. The aim is to make the list as concise as possible but fear not there will be plenty of choice.

Weekly selection
I will ask you to vote for one goalkeeper and one outfield player you WOULD PLACE ON THE SUBSTITUTES BENCH. This vote will indicate who the least popular players are for the week and determine the most popular sub – i.e. he who most of you think WON’T have a good gameweek, goes to the last place on the bench, next most popular goes second and third takes first outfield spot on the bench. Goalkeeper with most ‘sub’ votes takes the sub GK spot.

[divider_1px]

Transfers
Each week there will be two transfer votes.
The first will ask “Who do you think should be sold from the FF247 Community Team?”
The second will ask: “Who do you think the FF247 Community Team should buy valued at £ ‘X’ ?
Multiple transfers (Points Hits), Wildcards and Chips
This is where it can be a bit hairy for us but not insurmountable – the theory will be that if at least five members request using any of the above, it will be put to a vote.

[divider_1px]

Captaincy
We will use the existing captaincy poll on site and select the most popular player for that week who is in the FF247 Community Team. The second most popular within the team will be vice-captain.

Summary
We will no doubt encounter little problems as we move along but where possible, I will always seek the advice of you, our members as to how they would suggest the problem dealt with.
I will be happy to address any issues or answer any questions you might have – leave them on our Community Team page which will be with us soon. If I don’t answer right away, please check back, I will answer.
I hope you will become involved with each vote as it appears. There may seem like there are a lot of votes but it will literally take you five seconds to take part as most of your replies will be one word.
This is intended to create additional interest away from our own teams, to not take itself too seriously or be bogged down with ‘what-ifs’. We should be democratic but not boring.
It is meant as a way for our fantastic community to bond further and with a bit of luck, to draw new visitors and encourage them to take part with us.
We may even be lucky and form a bit of a local FF247 fantasy rivalry as we progress…..
This is for you guys and your support is appreciated.

A word from FF247…

Team Management!
The Gallant Pioneer is your team manager for this one and he will be ably assisted by his two beautiful assistants in the form of NZAlex and Ellefcee. Please support them in this venture, it’s a brave new frontier but something that could work brilliantly given the community we have here.

Just one point though – the second you all start beating the site team it’ll be pulled quicker than a Jack Wilshire muscle 😉

Hey guys, how’s it going? I remember talk about a community team over the break, glad to see we’re going to try it out! It should be really fun to see how we do, thanks Gallant for quarterbacking this one. Looking forward to participating! smile

Also, if anyone’s about, is Chadli pretty safe to start for Tottenham this season? Trying to come up with a draft team that leaves me enough funds to bring in Berahino if my 5.5 3rd striker (Wilson) flops, as well as get Aguero for gw 3/4. It’s not been easy! Here’s what I’ve got so far.

    Ruddy Butland
    Azpi Cedric Huth O’Shea Francis
    Hazard Cazorla Walcott Chadli Wanyama
    Rooney Wilson Pelle

2 mil ITB which allows me sell Walcott for Siggy anytime after gw1 and upgrade Rooney to Aguero. Also leaves funds to get Berahino for Wilson if needed once WBA’s fixtures get better. Any thoughts? Too elaborate or decent planning? lol

      NIN says:

Howdy Red. As far as i know, Chadli should be good for starts. He was unfortunate last season, to say the least, but once fit and able, he was nailed in the first team. Did get subbed a bit though, a few early ones if i remember correctly. As for the future thinking, maybe a bit too much i think. Could you find 0.5m from somewhere and bank it with the rest for a straight swap of Rooney to Aguero? With 3 FT’s planned for the first 3/4 weeks, it could get very messy if an injury/suspension is forced upon you. It is good planning i suppose, but it’s totally out to your hands as to whether it will work or not. Could end up needing some hits.

      • RedVT says:

Thanks NIN, much appreciated. I do recall Chadli getting taken off early a few times last season, guess that’s the risk with his relatively low price. I’ll take a look and see about scraping together another .5. It’s really only 2 transfers before gw4 for Aguero though as I plan on giving Wilson a chance to start the season. I just don’t want to paint myself into a corner with a 5.5 forward and have no exit plan, as I remember a lot of people getting tripped up with the Bojan experiment last year! Also just swapped O’Shea for Matthews after reading GP and NZ Alex’s comments earlier in the thread. smile

How’s your team shaping up? You getting closer to a settled side?

        • NIN says:

          Bojan? Who’s Bojan?
My team isn’t really progressing at all. I’ve got the balance i want but preseason/transfer activity will dictate the personnel. This what i’ve got just now but almost everyone is subject to change.

        • RedVT says:

Nice looking balance going on there NIN. Hennessey is a cheeky little pick (not prick :D) if he starts to offset the 5.0 price of Pants and still have 2 playing keepers for 9 mil. I also think Wanyama is the obvious (and safest) 4.5 5th mid to have. I flirted with some of the Watford guys with more offensive threat but with all their new signings not even the supporters on their forums have the slightest clue who will start in midfield. Everything else being up in the air at the moment I’ll wait til we get closer and you’ve got a semi-final draft to dig into it more.

Thanks again for all of your help with our RMTs these past weeks, it’s much appreciated. Have a great weekend! smile

        • NIN says:

Haha, very careful wording there, nice one 😉
Yeah Hennessey could prove useful but, to be honest, i’m more than happy to run with Pantilimon until around Christmas time, or a little before i think. I had Forster for large parts of last season and he was easily outscored by Pantilimon. Save points are a huge deal with GK’s. Yeah the Watty mid’s are hard to call, maybe best to leave them be. As for Wanyama, i’d like to get a rotation going on there but it’s tough. Two £5m mid’s would be perfect. Aarons/Gomez would be beyond perfect but that might be unlikley.

No problem, glad to help out. Have a good weekend yourself

      Red

Hi mate. Well we are going to give it a go but we need yours and everyone else’s support to make it happen. I’m sure you will oblige.

Pelle is an interesting choice. He is flying under the radar with all the J-Rod talk recently. Had a really poor spell last season though. But I suppose you could drop back to J-Rod if necessary.

      • RedVT says:

Hey Gallant, how’s it going? Yeah, JRod was my first choice but I read an article which quoted the assistant coach Erwin Koeman and I feel Pelle is the safer choice to start. Love Southampton’s early fixtures and Pelle has been scoring like mad in pre-season. And as you say, I can always bring in JRod later as he’s cheaper anyway, or even stretch to Benteke if needed:

Despite the emphatic victory, assistant boss Erwin Koeman insisted the clash with Quick ’20 was a worthwhile exercise for the Saints.
“We knew that it would be an easy game but to score ten times is nice,” he said.
“Graziano is living for scoring and Jay is coming back and he made three goals as well. Jay maybe needs more time to be fit again.
“We are very glad he is training and playing games, but he needs time. It’s a victory for him.”

      Avengers says:

No Liverpool, Mancity cover, also little doubt on gametime for Huth and Oshea. Apart from this good squad.

      • RedVT says:

Hey Avengers! Just swapped O’Shea for Matthews because of the game time doubts I read earlier, thanks for that. Waiting to see how Liverpool start with their tough away schedule- Hendo, Milner and Benteke on the radar. Funds left for Aguero anytime after gw2 once I’m sure he’ll start!

Suggestions for a 4mn Def as a bench warmer? (better if he starts, less likely though)
not from Bournemouth and Norwich though. I already got Francis and Martin

    nishant says:

After tips from you all this is what i have come up with
    looks good to me

    Ruddy(NOR) Guzan(AVL)
    Ivanovic(CHE) Clyne(SOU) Francis(BOU) Martin(NOR) Baker(AVL)
    Hazard(CHE) Sterling(MCI) Cazorla/Ozil(ARS) Henderson(LIV) Wanyama(SOU)
    Rooney(MUN) Giroud(ARS) Deeney(WAT)

this way i got almost all the top club covers as in Arsenal Man U City Chelsea Livpool. Just missing the Spurs and Everton. They are shaky at the start of the season though.

    how does this look guys?

      NIN says:

nish – I wouldn’t worry about Everton at all. Their opening fixtures are some of the toughest i’ve ever seen. Really hard on them. I like this team but it’s a bit risk-zilla in defence with double Villa and double Norwich. Have a bounce around Mito’s rotation table and CC’s custom fixture tracker and try and come out with a more flexible defence maybe? Mid’s and forwards are fine.

Liking the sound of the community team. I’ll be involved for sure!

Had O’Shea and J-Rod all pre-season but worried about their gametime. Thoughts on this draft?

A nice mix there, my doubt is on Janmaat.
Newcastle have nightmare fixtures thru GW8, think will be very lucky to get a point never mind a clean sheet. Tho’ they do nearly always score at home so just first week Cedric may be wanting a rest. LEI offer cheap clean sheet filler GW1 & for when SOU play CHE away as well.
