Three Strikers Who Could Be Great Value in Fantasy Football
Securing one of the best strikers in the Premier League is not cheap. You have to give up a large chunk of your budget to secure the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Kane, or Mo Salah.
Those who go on to have a lot of success in their respective fantasy leagues are those who spot value. Here is a look at three strikers who could fall into that category and perform much better than their price tag suggests.
Callum Wilson (Newcastle United)
It has been a difficult season for Newcastle United so far. One of their players who has stood out despite the side’s form is Callum Wilson. He has scored four goals from his opening five games in the Premier League.
Despite certain players’ strengths, Newcastle are at the top end of the betting for the drop this season. They are 6/5 in the Premier League relegation odds from Betfair. Their fortunes may change in January if they splash the cash in the transfer window, though. Wilson could benefit from much better service to what he is receiving now.
The England international has played almost 200 Premier League games now. He is proven in this league, and this could be his best season yet in the top-flight.
Odsonne Edouard (Crystal Palace)
Crystal Palace signed Odsonne Edouard from Celtic in summer. The Frenchman got off to a flying start, scoring two goals on his debut after coming off the bench in a 3-0 victory over Tottenham.
Edouard has only scored once since that dream debut, so he is sure to be a little disappointed. You only have to look at his record in Scotland to see how prolific he can be once he settles into his team.
Eagles boss Patrick Vieira is a big fan of Edouard. The 27-year-old is now a regular starter for Palace. It won’t be long before he is scoring on a regular basis. Snap him up before he does that.
Diogo Jota (Liverpool)
Diogo Jota was unlikely to be in many fantasy teams at the start of the season as Liverpool’s front three of Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino are considered to be one of the best forward lines in world football. Jota has played eight Premier League games through the opening three months of the campaign, scoring four times, so he has not been starved of pitch time.
The Portuguese forward should continue to get lots of opportunities in Jurgen Klopp’s team, especially when you consider that Liverpool will be without their leading scorer, Salah, in January, as he is set to feature in the African Cup of Nations for Egypt.
Since moving to Liverpool from Wolves, Jota has done well. His side are in great form this season and are strong contenders for the title. They are scoring lots of goals and Jota can get his fair share of those.
Hopefully, all three of the above players go on to find the back of the net on a regular basis and offer you great value for the price you paid for them.
