Transfer Deadline Signings – Glenn Murray and Virgil van Dijk
Well then, we were waiting on a bonanza of big name signings so that we could pepper this quiet FPL week with a flurry of articles about world class stars turning up on our FPL doorstep with millions in their pockets and fantasy point potential oozing from their gold encrusted boots… And so we begin with Glenn Murray and Virgil van Dijk. Which just about sums up deadline day in all honesty. Hey ho, that’s the way the cookie crumbles sometimes but either way your beloved Potty was the first to put his hand up and we all know how he loves a differential underdog so we weren’t really surprised that he actually took to this particular deadline day letdown like a pig in… you get the picture. Over to the man himself to give you his very own take on these two rough diamonds…
What have I, (Potty) and Harry Rednapp got in common? We both love the south coast just like these two club’s additions do.
GLEN MURRAY

[/three_fourth]His transfer from the Eagles to the Cherries at a cost of 4 million pounds might just put egg on the Palace boss’ face come May 2016? Scoring 47 goals in 125 starts for Crystal Palace he certainly can find the net if given a run of play.
And the news of Max Gradel’s terrible injury is the key for the “Magician Murray” to perform once again. Aged just 31 his Eagles strike average was a goal every 239 minute’s which is so impressive in the competitive Premier League but will he play for the Dean Court new boys? I tend to think he will in a position just behind the refreshing Wilson in a wandering central role and with his eye for a piercing pass the already up and running Callum will flourish even more.
With a price tag of 5.8 m attached to Glen’s head it may put many of us off purchasing him. But I suggest forget caution as Glen Murray is a MINT of a striker.

VIRGIL van DIJK

[/three_fourth]The Dutchman’s move from Celtic to Southampton for a fee around the 11.5m mark will have many FPL bosses asking who is he? Well the 24 year old man named Virgil, due to his father’s fanatic following of all things Thunderbirds, is a class act indeed.
The towering centre back played 75 matches for Celtic since joining them in 2013 and he bagged 9 times for the Hoop’s and his aerial threat from set piece’s due to his 6’4″ height along with Tadics’ ability to find a player with his own wonderful feet will bring goals into the new Saint’s acquisitions game.
Regarding the money which has been spent on Virgil I expect he will start when GW5 comes around as he will be immediately put into the fray as he forges out a new defensive partnership with the currently clumsy Fonte.
In my opinion you have no need to “watch this space” with Virgil as at a 5.5m price set by FPL he is a quality buy and I for one will have him in my team.
5..4..3..2..1…..Saint’s back four are Go.

Thinking about bring a striker in one my Wildcard with a good fixture this week then replacing him for Diouf afterwards to utilise his amazing fixtures after Arsenal.
Who would you recommend for a one week punt at £6.6m or less? Vardy? Sakho? (already have Wilson)
Thinking about bringing a striker in on my Wildcard***
Would help if I could type haha
You must mention your other 2 strikers as well !
Vardy at home to Villa would be my choice
Cheers Init, I agree!
Good stuff Potty, cheers for this mate
Diouf, Westwood, Cathcart. Which player would you start in GW5?
I’d stick with the forward and play Diouf, tough call predicting the top scorer from that trio.
Cheers Andy.
Are you on Wildcard, NIN?
No mate, i played mine in GW3.
ahh okay, I’d probably play Diouf then
Awesome article Potty. Will have a look at van Dijk but currently think Cedric at 5.0m is more interesting. On that note, backs don’t seem to fish out all the BPS like last seasons.
Pissed Blind ignored van Dijk en played Martens Indi whom got a red in the first half. Freaking dumb ass. Also would’ve liked to see Lens in the squad of the Dutch. Lens has fallen under the radar in here. I tipped him before the season started and I wish I just stuck with my gut. He has been involved in everything that has to do with Sunderland goals/assists. Currently he has 1 goal or assist per game, which is decent if you consider he’s playing for Sunderland (even more decent if you consider Depay is still on 0).
Raz I believe he’s been called up for the Turkey game.
Good afternoon all on my WC but struggling atm. Would like Sanchez in there got a feeling he may explode soon.
Any advice ?
shanec – Any funds left over?
Hey nin 3.7 in the bank
Ayew seems the easiest route then, if you want Sanchez. Either that or downgrade Gomis and upgrade Mahrez. Think i prefer the former there.
I don’t like the Sinclair pick, I know he scored 2 last time out (Not surprised with that one since I sold him GW 2 after playing him) but with Grealish and Agbonlahor only missing out through injury/illness I think the Villa youngster has a high chance of being rotated in and out of the lineup so paying 5m for him might be a bit expensive when you can at least get nailed on back up starters for 4.5.
You should you want Cedric when he has Chelsea, Liverpool, United and Swansea in the coming 6 GWs?
Not a smart purchase according to me, especially when you are on a WC.
@shanec
Cheers b. Just had him since the start need to change him tho
Thinking the same, B. On Wildcard at the moment and I won’t be keeping a Soton defender.
Tempted to avoid them outright but a 3-0 win last time out is making me wary.
Its not every week they get to play a 10 man relegation candidate.
Naughton at Swans is a ready mix replacement, & especially if you are throwing out Ayew or Gomis.
