The one with Russ…
Hello everyone and welcome to UEFA Champions League Fantasy Football 2019/20 GW3. Who or what is a ‘Russ’, you may well ask. Well, to continue our recent theme of nostaglia for 80’s/90’s sitcoms Russ featured briefly in Friends and so Russ is our poster boy for CL GW’s 3 & 4 because Russ is a mirror image of Ross, and faces up to him a couple of times, with hilarious consequences. Why is this even relevant? Well it’s because GW’s 3 & 4 cross paths in a similar fashion, namely that they are a mirror of each other. If the relevance of that hasn’t sunk in yet we shall expand further shortly and we will also cover the main points of order for the week ahead, the fixtures themselves and how the league table looks right now, as in in our ‘Regs’ one…

Housekeeping GW3
The main points to consider this week are as follows;

    • Transfers
      You get two free transfers each week and this one is no different. You can choose to carry one over should you wish, but you will never get more than three in any GW, which means that you should have somewhere between 2 & 3 transfers for this week.
    • Deadlines / Manual Subs / Captain Switches
      There are two, essentially. The first and main one is at kick off on Tuesday which is 5.55pm UK time. You will get to see the line-ups of 4 teams prior to it (Shakhtar, D. Zagreb, Atletico & Bayer Leverkusen).

The second is on Wednesday at the same time. This is the one before which you can change your team around, bring in your subs manually and also change your captain to a Wednesday player, if you so wish.

When setting your team up just make sure that all of your ‘Tuesday’ players are on the pitch to begin with, you can then bring your ‘Wednesday’ guys in prior to 5.55pm on that day. Likewise with your captain.

The Russ point…
This juncture is often a good time to deploy your wildcard, or at least focus those 2/3 transfers wisely. The back to back thing means that if you have a few giants playing a few minnows then perhaps now is the time to max out on that. The timing is good too as no groups will have been decided yet so the risk of any major rotation is minimal. The fixture trackers below should be visual enough to pick those particular match-ups out but just in case we would suggest perhaps looking at the likes of Man City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG, Spurs, Barca and Liverpool.

The Game Itself and the FF247 League Codes

You can access the game here – Fantasy Champions League

We have two leagues running;
Our official FF247 league code is 32NQYUI4KW
This one is the usual open air league that all and sundry are welcome to join; there are about 800 people in it. We have no idea who most of them are!

Our other one, the ‘Regulars League’ is now only open to new entrants via email
Please email us on contact@fantasyfootball247.co.uk if you want the code.

We did ask that people respected the purpose and integrity of this one; that is to say that you should only enter it if you consider yourself to be a Regular Community member on here. But this was unfortunately not adhered to. The phrase ‘this is why we can’t have nice things’ springs to mind. As a result we have booted about 50 people out of it who we do not recognise. If you find yourself suspended and feel you shouldn’t be then please just say so in the comments below and we shall happily reinstate you.

    56 from 6 players tonight. If only I’d captained Sterling instead of Ronaldo !

    Worth subbing off 4 point Gnabry for Benfica defender Denayer? I doubt it, but I am sure some of you know more about these players/teams than me.
    Cheers!

    62 points today from 4 players and sitting pretty atop the regs league. I didn’t captain Sterling but can have no complaints. It will be tough to maintain this start but I’ll give it my best shot!

    Mane and Tagliafico replacing Matuidi and Otamendi is the easiest part. The question is, do I sacrifice another 4 points to bring in Haaland :scratch_one-s_head:

      I would bring it Haaland if I were you smile

      • Yep, I will, thanks Coys :good:
        With 4 goals in the UCL so far and 11 in the Austrian Bundesliga can’t be ignored. I hope United manage to get him in January as Real apparently are too in the race 😯

          Man utd might have the upper hand with the Norwegian link provided Ole will still be at the wheel come Jan smile

        • True. Holding pool to a draw might soften the blow a bit but still leaves a lot to be desired. Lingering at the bottom half of the table after nine games is not a good news. The next few games are good on paper but they will be make or brake and if things don’t improve Ole might receive an unpleasant Christmas gift sad

          I thought it was a spirited display against Pool something which I feel Spurs is lacking at moment. We might get hammered by Pool this weekend. Sack race is possibly OGS vs Poch

    65 from 7 players yesterday and I thought it was decent until I saw few guys in my league capping Sterling :dash:
