Woofbet Tournament Spotlight Gameweek 26 – Fantasy Premier League Betting

Woofbet LogoIt’s almost been 10 days since the Premier League graced our television sets and our fantasy football teams last got a good run out. For some this break has been a time to reflect on last weekend and the season so far, for others it’s been a time test their managerial skills on the European stage and experience the highs and lows of Champions League fantasy football. Regardless of how you spent it, a new gameweek is upon us and now is the time to move our ire from Olivier Giroud to another big shot that’ll inevitably blank as captain this weekend. My fingers on Harry Kane, for some reason it only just twigged that he’s been the perfect captain choice for pretty much the entire year – so this gameweek I’ve given him the armband and I’m prepared for him to let me down like Arjen Robben did during the week. We’ve got a solid variety of tournaments on Woofbet.com this weekend with entry fees ranging from €2 to €25. This tournament spotlight is going to take a look at this gameweek’s low entry fee tournaments for all you managers feeling a bit short-changed due to the high frequency of matches.

Gameweek 26 kicks off tomorrow and Woofbet.com has thousands up for grabs across multiple tournaments. This gameweek there’s €300 in free entry prizes and a solid €2225 in guaranteed pots. You also have the option to create your own tournaments and head-to-head challenges. Choose your own rules and buy-in fees then invite your friends or leave it open for the public to challenge you!

It’s been the case many times this season where the expensive players let you down leaving your cheaper, less popular choices to bring home the points. You could take Charlie Austin, Danny Ings & Harry Kane for example and compare their consistency to the likes of Van Persie, Balotelli & Lukaku. If this epitomizes your season so far then this tournament will be the perfect one for you. With a budget set at just 80 million (an amount that’d make old Arsene smile from ear to ear) you will need to carefully construct a budget squad capable of doing the damage. The budget averages at 6.1 million per player, so you’ll have no need to worry about any expensive player investments not paying off. It’s going to be important to nail this weekend’s clean sheets with the cheapest defense possible in order to free up some cash for your attack. After a tough 90 minutes away at PSG during the week there’s a good chance that Mourinho will be looking to rest a few players. This could mean 20-year-old Kurt Zouma (4.6), who shone in his debut games, will get another run out at home to new-boys Burnley. Philipp Wollscheid (4.5) has played every minute since arriving at Stoke on loan from Bayer Leverkusen. This weekend he faces the notoriously poor strike force of Aston Villa who embarrassingly hold the record of just 1 goal in their last 8 games. Despite having a disappointing campaign so far, Everton have recently managed to tighten things up defensively and claim 3 clean sheets in their last 5 games, only conceding 1 goal against both Manchester City & Chelsea. Once again we turn to another 20-year-old and back John Stones (5.2) to maintain Everton’s good defensive form as they host struggling Leicester. Now we’ve saved you some pennies defensively – we’ll leave the investing in your strike force part to you. Anybody who’s been floating around Woofbet.com for a few weeks must have passively picked up at least a few euros by now. That’s why this week we’ve decided to host a €2 entry tournament with a generous €100 guaranteed prizepool. This will act as the perfect platform for you to turn that €2 in to €20 euros, giving you the option to then enter in some bigger tournaments with more lucrative prizepools. The pressure gets immediately switched on when you put money on the line, regardless of how low the amount; so expect your composure and tactical knowledge to be tested if you want to get your hands on the cash. As usual your captain choice holds unparalleled importance and will be the difference between being 20 clear at the top or 20 behind the league leaders. With a captaincy favourite blanking every week, from Hazard to Costa to Giroud, it’s very hard knowing whom to trust with your armband. I’ve handed mine to the mighty Harry Kane who’s on unstoppable form, but like I mentioned previously, it’ll likely become ‘stoppable form’ now I’m finally putting my trust in him. The Chelsea attack looks a safe bet as they host Burnley in a fixture you’d image Eden or Cesc bagging some solid points from the midfield, but captaining these two would only put you at the top with the rest. If you’re looking to gain some legroom at the top then you’ll need to man up and take an educated gamble. Branislav Ivanovic (7.3) has begun showing his attacking spark again picking up a goal against Aston Villa a few weeks back and then PSG in the Champions League mid-week. Tomorrow he faces Burnely, which on paper looks like a match that could offer him some good defensive and attacking returns. West Brom’s 10 million pound record signing Brown Ideye (5.6) has finally found his form after looking destined to follow in the footsteps of Alfonso Alves and the more recent Ricky Van Wolfswinkel. This week he travels up north to face a Sunderland side that granted QPR their first away win of the season last gameweek. After smashing home a hattrick in Switzerland last night in Everton’s Europa League fixture against Young Boys, Romelu Lukaku (8.8) looks like he may have finally refound his prolific goal scoring form. This weekend Roberto Martinez will be hoping that the 21-year-old powerhouse can carry on where he left off against slightly-older-boys; Leicester (excuse the pun). After making it’s Champions League debut during the week, 1 Player Per Team makes it’s welcomed return to the Premier League this gameweek with a guaranteed prizepool of €150 up for grabs. What’s a guaranteed prizepool we hear you ask! It’s a fixed minimum regardless of the amount of entrants; for example in this weeks €5 Entry – €150 Guaranteed, if only 3 people enter the prizepool will still stand at €150, despite their entrance fee only equating to €15. However, if the tournament reaches the guaranteed amount in entrant fees (in this case 30 entrants x 5 entry = 150) then the prizepool will begin rising by €5 for every entry over 30. The tournament sounds simple on the face of things but if you want to succeed there are a few things you should pay attention to. Make sure that your attackers are not facing your defenders. Unless you’re the ‘glass half empty’ kind of guy then there’s no reason why you should be banking on your defenders to earn consolation points for your strikers. Try predicting the games that are going to be low scoring and take your defenders from those games. This weekend Aston Villa vs. Stoke and Hull vs. QPR stand out as fixtures you should maybe look towards for defenders. Now you have a cheap backline sorted you can fill in the rest of your team with ease, without worrying if your midfielders or strikers are facing your own defenders. Well, we say with ease… making the decision of which Chelsea player to have is going to be crucial. Will Hazard be gifted a spot-kick, will Costa make a stomping return or will Ivanovic pop up with cheeky goal to accompany his clean sheet. Usually this tournament is free to enter therefore filled with hundreds of managers and hosting almost every team variation possible. With the €5 buy in this week you can ensure a more close competition, with less entrants but more pressure on your decisions. On behalf of WoofBet, I’d like to wish you all the best of luck in this weeks tournaments. Feel free to share your team in the comments or on Twitter, I’m interested to see who you guys are going with!

    Afternoon all,

I’m sure i wont be the only one to ask this:-

Is it worth bringing costa in for this week then having to sell him again the week after?

    Cheers

    Afternoon guys,

    Got a keeper conundrum!

I currently have forster (v Liverpool) & krul (v Man City)

I’m thinking Forster to Lloris. That way, I can have.

GW 26 Lloris v West Ham
    GW 27 Krul v Villa
GW 28 Lloris DGW (+ 2 Kane and Chadli)

I already have 2 FT”S to bring in Costa amd Chadli, and the above would save me wasting a FT.

    What do you think?

    PeterPan says:

Hi All! Think I might need some help… seen quite a few red arrows lately.
    Pantilimon (Krul)
    Jones(Utd) Wisdom Kos (Wasil Bertrand)
Tadic Hazard Puncheon Sanchez V (Boyd)
    Kane Rooney Aguero C
    0.0m itb and 1FT

    What should I do?
    1) Rooney out? For who?
    2) Wisdom out? for who? He hasnt played the last few and have had him from the beginning (get 4.2m for him)
    3) What else?
    4) Save the FT

    Thanks smile

    News on Defoe:

Poyet also revealed that Jermain Defoe is ‘touch and go’ after missing Sunday’s FA Cup tie against Bradford City, but like Cattermole he is hoping to be able to call upon the England international.

“Jermain is touch and go and there are a few in that situation, so it is important to monitor how they recover after training today to see if there are any issues, but hopefully they will all be there.”
