World Cup 2014 Fantasy Football!
As we sadly near the end of our beloved FPL season we thought it would be time to tell you that all hope is not lost and that you will not have to spend a long and lonely summer with friends and family at the beach ‘enjoying’ yourself whilst secrectly counting down the days to start of the next FPL season! Alas, the World Cup is upon us and will hopefully feed your fantasy addiction! We will be open for business as usual over the Summer with fantasy interest aplenty as we will be partaking in the usual FIFA World Cup game with an FF247 league and articles to boot. Hopefully you are as excited as we are at the prospect of seeing England lose on penalties again, watching Messi try to fulfill his one missing accolade and seeing the latest gem emerge from the tournament only to come to the EPL next season and realise that Big Sam doesn’t quite know how to utilise a silky ball playing South American. Hoof it please love…
Fancy writing for us? Good, because we need your help!
We intend to do a series of mini-articles throughout the various stages of the tournament to help you along the way but we will be kicking it all off with an overall guide to the groups and the teams involved to help you make those initial selections a little easier. That’s where you guys come in as we would like a little help… Basically we would like to do a run-down on each group, the teams involved and assess their players from a fantasy perspective and as such invite you our members to write it for us! We don’t expect many will have specific knowledge of Iran, Honduras or Ecuadorian line-ups but that’s where the fun is! If you fancy getting your name in lights and having a crack at advising your fellow managers as to who is the forward to pick from South Korea or why we shouldn’t rely on England to produce then we would love to hear from you. Simply contact us here and we will get the ball rolling and hopefully we will be able to have a full guide to the World Cup written by our members. Some of the groups have already been taken by the current writers but we have room for 3 or 4 guest writers. As such we may have to operate on a first come, first served basis and we cannot guarantee involvement but the more applicants the merrier and we will try to accomodate as many new writers as we can.
Ok then! Looks like we will be writing these ourselves 😉
Feel free to chat on here as normal though!
What are everybodys thoughts / plans for DGW37? Interested to see how many DGW players you are all planning on having. guessing 5 or 6 will be the average?
I think everyone is still sleeping or actually working !! Been chatting to myself on the other chat.
I confirmed as a writer – as long as I get Group D. I can’t wait to take Roy’s team apart.
Milky, speak to my mate Jose, he has some great tactics for taking teams apart.
Really Cookie? Is Jose that bus driver who manages to park two buses at once?
yeah – and score twice…..
If you’d rather play that style of football, than attacking style, that’s your choice. But one goal from a mistake, and another in the dying moments because of the pressing, so be it. We both know that Chelsea were brilliant in their defensive play, but Liverpool played better football. Mourinho outdid his apprentice.
Milky, as Kop said, you can’t moan about it. Keeper out, main defender out, captain out, main striker out, biggest attacking threat out and CL semi in 3 days time. That my friend, is a winning mentality. I accept you don’t like Mourinho, but you can’t argue with his record of getting wins when he needs them.
People have parked the bus at United, Chelsea and Arsenal for years – and Liverpool before that. Have to find a way through that bus.
No point playing pretty football without winning anything – ask any Gooner fan.
The result is all that matters!
Oh no no, Cookie: I most definitely don’t dislike Mourinho. I think he is the most tactically gifted manager of our time. He was brilliant. I am simply bemoaning the fact that there was no Plan B to the obvious Chelsea gameplan. The result is all that matters.
I am allowed to moan about the game, we lost the game and arguably the chance for a title. I shouldn’t be happy about that fact!
Yeah moan away Milky, keeps me amused on a Monday!!
Whatever happens, you should be extremely happy with your season and your club’s progress. Publically annoyed, secretly impressed!!
Exactly the way! To, possibly since it hasn’t been decided, lose the league on goal difference to a far superior squad like Man City? Damn good one that.
So, back to fantasy football: Baines (injury concern) + Sturridge -> 5.9m defender and Aguero? We like the United defenders now for the DGW?
not especially mate, I reckon Sunderland will score against us.
I dislike Mourinho’s style of play and how he manages his teams. I also find it disgusting how he provoked the Pool supporters when Willian made it 2-0. The psychological warfare is funny at times but he takes at few steps too far. Earlier this week they stated they don’t give a shit about the EPL (just the CL) and look how he celebrated the second goal yesterday.
I get why he made Porto and Inter play the way they did. He totally messed up Real Madrid though and the players were responsible for him leaving (like United players with Moyes). Real Madrid wants to play attractive football though and Mourinho can only book results by parking the bus.
Have followed Mourinho since has assistant manager at Barca (back when van Gaal was in charge there). Stopped liking his frantics a long time ago.
Anyway, hope Mou doesn’t win any prices this season. Knowing him and his past he will probably grab the CL and the EPL. 😛
Do you see it’s not even about Chelsea anymore? It’s about Mourinho. 😉
There’s no point in moaning about Chelsea parking the bus, we all knew they were going to do it and we had no plan B!
Yeah Kop; we hoping for an Everton victory now?
Milky, I honestly don’t see City slipping up again and I wouldn’t be surprised if we slip up against Palace!
Kop, I didn’t ask for negatives. Even though I agree with both points, don’t bring them up! lol
Speak for yourself! I do have some knowledge of the Ecuadorian line-up. Honduras and Iran though, you are on your own.
FF247 team.
I’ve sent you an email.
Quick, run off and read it……..
Chins, no sign of your email mate!!
Ignore that, it’s there now
Good stuff Kop.
Although I wouldn’t have been surprised if i’d done something wrong. Like forgot to press send, or fallen into some other technical pot hole.
I love this initiative. Ill be working over the summers so cant really help out with all the writing and stuff, but ill be glad to interact with you all throughout the tournament. Should be fun.
I have 8 DGW players, again, like always. Team is as follows. There is a bit of a bench dilemma though.
MANNONE
ZABS – CHESTER – Azpi
YAYA (V) – MATA – AMALFITANO – Ramsey
AGUERO – ROONEY (C) – Suarez
Bench: Marsh – Erik – Olsson – Ward
Thoughts?
