World Cup Quarter Finals Live Match Chat

Welcome to World Cup Quarter Finals Live Match Chat. And then there were eight. Well, England plus another seven 😉 Some surprises along the way mixed with some familiar names progressing sees us arrive at the quarter-final stage with everything to play for. Like any tournament the continued presence of the home nation is generally seen as a positive, except by Spain of course who have already departed for the more familiar surroundings of Costa Blanca. We have also waved goodbye to Messi and Ronaldo and a new superstar has been born in Mbappe.

Sadly we said farewell to the gallant Japanese but with England facing Sweden, expectations continue to reach epic proportions. It’s coming home. Isn’t it?! Ah c’mon, let us dream!

We have the next two days off until we reconvene on Friday, so plenty of time to think over plans and transfers. Is it time to play a Chip or have they been utilised/wasted already?!

From a fantasy point of view we have 3 free transfers for this round and we can now own a maximum of five players from any one team.

  2. Les Belges are going to take some beating. Brazil corner, bang-bang-bang & KDB scores a beaut. England can’t beat them imo.

        • That’s good to hear Zorro. I’m similar. I have many dear English friends and I’ve never been caught up in the anti-English sentiment so prevalent up here.

          That and the fact I can watch 95% of Scotland go in to an absolute meltdown will be fantastic. I love chaos.

    Irish commentary just described this game as best of the tournament but I disagree. It’s either the Spain vs Portugal match or the France vs Argentina one for me!!

    • “Irish commentary”, well there’s your first mistake… Smile-it’s a windup. Seriously, best commentaries are usually on the radio imo.

      • Agreed. But then it’s a different art that. They have to paint the whole picture for us. Unless it’s Alan Green who’s now so grumpy he’d have had us believing Spain Portugal was a turgid waste of time.

        • Or Alan Green would be commentating Belgian vs Brazil and somehow still manage to talk endlessly about how awful the France vs Denmark match was

        • I’m guessing he actually did then?! Used to really like him too until he became a caricature of himself.

        • I don’t know about that I watched the match in the pub smile
          But in the past he has commentated on cracking matches only to start moaning about previous poor matches. If he’s on the radio I just turn it off.
