Well, England plus another seven 😉 Some surprises along the way mixed with some familiar names progressing sees us arrive at the quarter-final stage with everything to play for. Like any tournament the continued presence of the home nation is generally seen as a positive, except by Spain of course who have already departed for the more familiar surroundings of Costa Blanca. We have also waved goodbye to Messi and Ronaldo and a new superstar has been born in Mbappe.
Sadly we said farewell to the gallant Japanese but with England facing Sweden, expectations continue to reach epic proportions. It’s coming home. Isn’t it?! Ah c’mon, let us dream!
We have the next two days off until we reconvene on Friday, so plenty of time to think over plans and transfers. Is it time to play a Chip or have they been utilised/wasted already?!
From a fantasy point of view we have 3 free transfers for this round and we can now own a maximum of five players from any one team.

Alli, Sterling and Lingard have been the biggest wastes of spaces in this entire tournament!!! Bloody done SFA except for one goal against bloody Panama!
Bit harsh on Lingard, excluding my bias.
Don’t think Sterling has been as bad as people say. As for that first half, that’s normal for Raheeeem..,.give him another couple of chances and he’ll score….this is what he does.
As for Alli, he’s been dreadful!
Lingard has been the best of them all but think of all the chances he’s missed. Just wandering around the place doing nothing right now. Sterling has atleast been getting into the box in this match but he’s not passing it enough and is being very greedy.

Alli needs to go for RLC. Other two are a threat, especially Sterling. Rashford for Jesse in about 20/25 mins I reckon.
I’d have Rashford for Alli personally but I’d agree with you there.
Alli was poor for a significant part of the season as well

Good stuff, I’m sure more of your First mates will take the same journey you did when they log back in and realise what’s happened. We’re a bit skeleton here too yet but that’s to be expected with people taking a break. Similarly friendly forum to what you had there though so I’m sure you’ll find no issues fitting in.
If not, those that are here will help one another throughout the season to the best of out abilities

Interesting Hammer – you not put off Kane by his WC exertions and Spurs playing away in 3 of their first 4? Plus his awful August record?
I’m struggling to justify both him and Salah if I’m honest, it leaves the rest looking somewhat weak elsewhere in my view mate.
Will always stick by Kane, Salah and Arnie.
If I dont pick them, I have to make sure I have the money to get them.
They will be fine for the start of the season.
I still need to tinker with the team as I still think I am weak in places, but higher values havent helped. I need a stronger midfield – maybe Son.

I don’t like the lack of Liverpool here, Salah especially.
I am tempted to paste my draft team, but wondered if anyone will start a new thread for this once the world cup has ended.
Also, has anyone noticed a few players not in there normal positions? So far I have noticed Masuaku and Arnie not in normal position which hasnt helped me build my team!!

Hammer, FPL articles will start after the WC, not even contemplating them until then but of course you’re fine to post FPL questions / RMT’s or whatever. Others were doing so within half an hour of launch. All I was going to say though is that we don’t run a separate section specifically for those as per what First did (I think, from memory), we just use the current article. In season we tend to post new articles at around midnight so that it’s a fresh start daily and all questions / RMT’s have had an answer from that day.

Just use whichever article is the latest one and you’ll be fine mate. Only one we ask people not to use for such things is the Barry & Paul Predictions as it just means more scrolling through for the lads when ‘adding’ up the results. That ones never the primary article though anyway, for that reason.

And finished 1st in my works league, and led the league from the very start, finishing with a 103 point lead.
In all fairness, I got a alot of support from the fff guys (secretzorro and crew)

Excellent work mate, well done. Winning your main ML is always the most satisfying thing I find. Wasn’t plain sailing in mine and came down to the final day. In fact it came down to the last 20 minutes! Perez getting a double and TAA scoring late won it for me by 11 points. I’m sweating just thinking about it even now! Finished 900 odd overall so very satisfied as that’s my 2nd best ever. You can link your history and team via your username if you ever want to on here btw. Not sure if that was an option on First? You don’t have to of course, just saying it’s an option.

I can guarantee you now I won’t even look at it until the Thursday before KO! I’ll think about it, obviously. I’ll have players in mind and probably more than a rough idea of what I’ll end up with but I won’t put it to practice until then. Helps that you get to see literally thousands of RMT’s prior to it!
