Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Gameweek 38. That’s your lot folks! Well, it will be in about 3 hours anyway… GW38 always seems so brutal. We are used to game-weeks spanning 3-4 days, sometimes even 6 or 7. And then when it really comes down to the final reckoning we are all lined up in front of the FPL firing squad and shot at for 90 short minutes as if we’d just been caught in Malaysia with a gram or two in our back pockets. And it’s a bit of an odd one to call as nearly all matters are sorted, barring a couple of highly unlikely goal difference swings. And we are talking huge ones here – a Liverpool draw and a Chelsea 16-0 win. And a Saints loss, a Swansea win and a 10 goal swing. The Saints do however face Man City so you just never know! But being realistic it’s all done and dusted. The main talking points will probably centre around rotation and regardless of what nonsense the managers trotted out in their press conferences about ‘playing until the end with professionalism’ there will be rotation aplenty. There’s usually a fair few goals on the last day too. Here’s hoping your amongst them.

There will be a WC league once we figure out which Site is doing one and there will be lead up articles. Probably a group by group analysis. There’ll be a call out for volunteers to write these at some point as often people (community regulars on here) have a vested interest in the group and like to try their hand at writing when they often wouldn’t.
Few weeks till the World Cup .. that’ll do!!
Just arrived in Dubai (work not pleasure) actually got mint coverage of the matches, we had Liverpool v Brighton live and they cut to every single goal it was great!! I actually got green arrows and killed the final GW so I’m feeling tired but happy right now!! Looking forward to reading through everyone’s comments from today! Hope you all did awesome! When does next season start!??

Firstly I’d like to thank the amazing team behind this site for their hilarious articles. I’ve followed the site for few years but only joined the community during the second half of this season. The people here are definitely some of the nicest bunch. Thanks to you all for helping everyone out every week, especially the regulars!
Decent gameweek and finished off with OR 50,423. Special mention to Initt and GP this week for advising me to remove Silva and Smalling for Salah and Robertson. They both smashed it and helped me secure 2nd in cash league. (Beer money sorted for a few weeks!)

Hi Keethan, the core ethos of the site, although unwritten and unsaid (and even better that it’s been achieved without doing either) is that it’s friendly. And we’re very proud of that. And so it’s great to hear that from a relatively new user. It’s been fantastic to see you transition on site this year too from someone who used to just DM us a bit for help to becoming part of our wider community. I’m sure you’ve found it better to get different opinions rather than just 1 and probably a better experience all round.
WOW, WHAT A FU3K!NG DAY!!!!!
This is probably of little interest to anyone but just wanted to get it off my chest as my nerves have been absolutely fraught all afternoon! And I couldn’t show it as we were at Alton Towers with the family.
There’s only 1 ML I care about really, it’s my footy one and I’ve played it for 10 years and won it 9 times, usually at a canter. This year though there were 12 points in it (to me) coming into today. And I actually fancied his team better on paper. So much so that I was considering taking a hit to cover Arnie and Auba, I didn’t but more on that later!
The timeline, as I remember it –
1pm – Decision time. Stood in the queue for the Octonauts ride!
The cover idea was still there and seemed sensible but I hate playing the game to somebody else’s tune. The only time I’ve done that this season cost me 30 points when I brought Salah in to cover him and got royally butt fckd by Jesus and Sterling (West Ham, 0-4). Smalling and DDG had thrown a spanner in the works and I was looking at having 1 defender so I decided to play it my way and got Robertson in for no hit. Safe, sensible. Me.
I should probably point out now that our teams have a lot of key personnel who are different as a result –
Me – Ryan, Masuaku, Robertson, Sterling, Son, Tadic, Kane, Perez
Him – Hennessey, Ogbonna, PVA, Hazard, Arnie, Sane, Auba, Ayew
We both capped Salah, so at least that wasn’t a further complication.
So yeah, a lot could go right or wrong here!
2pm – Line-ups
Auba and Arnie would have come in for Jesus and Son. Jesus and Son are on the bloody bench! I may have kicked something, I can’t remember. I hope it wasn’t a child. Or if it was I hope it was one of mine.
3pm – I’ve gone off on my own now, I’m in the queue for The Smiler. And this took pretty much the whole 1st half up.
Kane scores. Relief.
Masuaku off. That’s a blow as he still has Ogbonna on who was supposed to score roughly the same!
Auba scores. Bugger. But parity.
Arnie assist. Shit!
Robertson assist. Parity again.
2nd Half – now queuing for Galactica….
Perez goal. Confused as wasn’t expecting that!
Perez goal. Figured there was something up with my phone but no it happened! Bingo, that’s it, I’ve won surely…
Arnie goal. Bollocks.
Some tit on WhatsApp sends ‘Sane’ just as I’m getting on so I think he’s scored and ruins the whole ride!
Get off the ride and he hadn’t, it was in response to a question about something else. Phew.
Walking back down now.
PVA assist. Skakes head, this is not looking good again.
Niasse goal. Kills his West Ham cleanie, relief again.
Kane goal. I’ve won now surely?!
PVA goal. You gotta be kidding me! He’s won.
Robertson goal!!!! Absolutely no idea who’s winning now!
By this point we are walking back to the car and I’m trying to figure out scores with bonus points added with 2 kids in tow.
I decided to leave it be, I reckoned I’d won but wasn’t 100% sure.
Turns out I did it by 10 points but it certainly felt closer. I had 3 goals which were to win that and also the Ryder Cup one (but that was bagged by KO as nearest competitor took a -8) and also to finish top 1k which I managed with my 2nd best ever finish so very happy over all.
I probably answer more than ask on here but whenever I do ask I always get a great response and a good range of options so to anyone who has helped in any small way this season I say a massive thanks. As Vinci said before, in a roundabout way, you’re not necessarily looking for a definitive answer you’re looking for different views to consider and I always get plenty of those.

But yeah, my one FPL goal when setting off every August is to win that one, as you know. I’d take a 500k finish and winning that over a top 1k and not. Might seem strange but I have to live with these lads every Saturday!
He must be gutted. Especially as Perez of all people was ultimately the difference. And I can’t wait to see him on Saturday now
On another note GP I just wanted to say a personal thanks to you as you’re somewhat taken for granted a bit sometimes. But not by me and not by Cookie, Kop or Mito either as they all often comment on your commitment and contribution which is first class and absolutely appreciated by all. And of course we’ll done on a brilliant season. Best rank that?

Subconsciously or not, I also wasn’t very hands on with the end of today’s games either. At half time I went outside to cut the grass and set up the barbecue. I was getting goal notifications in my pocket what seemed like every two seconds!

I was cool as a cucumber on the outside. I was boiling up inside! They didn’t actually know until we went for a meal on the way home and I explained that it was actually our annual ML winning meal and my treat etc. You know the ritual. Only it’s normally an Indian.
I was pacing up and down the living room at half time! My wife couldn’t understand why I was on edge, I tried to explain that if I won it would mean that I have won this ML for the 3rd consecutive year and that I have now won it 5 out of 7! Plus there is a tidy cash prize! Her response was “what time does the game finish as you need to move those timber panels”

Ha ha great read ! Who needs Alton Towers when you have the final day Fpl rollercoaster !! Reminds me of last season when I was battling for 2nd place in a ML.I was at a park with the missus and little one and the goals were flying in.My phone was going mad.I had a mate who was competing for 1st place in a seperate ML which had a great prize so I was getting constant texts from him too.I was constantly on my phone and the missus wasn’t happy not understanding my excitement and constant shouts of “get in !” !
This year I spent all Sunday morning stressing about whether David Silva was back in the country,stress I wouldn’t have had to endure if I had just brought Arnie in the week before instead like originally intended ! Did my transfers at 1.45pm just before I left for football and (like I have done many times this season) overthought it and changed my mind at the last minute bringing Ramsey in,again instead of Arnie and bottling bringing P.v.a in for Smalling as “I had Naughton as cover”.
Ended up losing my works league due to spending too much time looking at my rivals team instead of playing my own game and taking gambles where I should have played safe and taking far too many hits including bringing Jones in for a hit ( Gp tried talking me out of it) only for him to be injured !
When I got my best ever finish a few seasons ago I had a mantra of “Slowly slowly catchee monkey” which I deffo intend to take into next season !
Anyway enough of my waffle.Congrats on a great season to you ,Gp and Horse.Great rank and consistency ! Bring on next season !
I think that’s the biggest thing I’ve learnt over the years about playing ML’s – just play your own game. I did that for 37 weeks this year and the one in which I didn’t ended up being my biggest regret of the season. That said if I’d done that I wouldn’t then have had Perez for the last 3 games so who knows it may have been for the best after all!
