World Cup Quarter Finals Live Match Chat

Welcome to World Cup Quarter Finals Live Match Chat. And then there were eight. Well, England plus another seven 😉 Some surprises along the way mixed with some familiar names progressing sees us arrive at the quarter-final stage with everything to play for. Like any tournament the continued presence of the home nation is generally seen as a positive, except by Spain of course who have already departed for the more familiar surroundings of Costa Blanca. We have also waved goodbye to Messi and Ronaldo and a new superstar has been born in Mbappe.

Sadly we said farewell to the gallant Japanese but with England facing Sweden, expectations continue to reach epic proportions. It’s coming home. Isn’t it?! Ah c’mon, let us dream!

We have the next two days off until we reconvene on Friday, so plenty of time to think over plans and transfers. Is it time to play a Chip or have they been utilised/wasted already?!

From a fantasy point of view we have 3 free transfers for this round and we can now own a maximum of five players from any one team.

  1. Evening guys just taken a quick look going to be difficult as always to set first team up 😉

    • Yep it always does. Salah and Kane take up a lot and a lot of the defenders are rotation worries

      • Smash Dare I say I’m not going with Salah did I just say that

        • Yeah can you cover Salah with Mane and Firmino. Liverpool’s start is nice though with Salah being captain material

        • What Cookie said, thinking of going with Ericsen as spurs cover in the beginning

        • Yes you could be right Guys not sure Salah will be as effective this season & mayby Kane is easy to cover with the Viking

        • Kind of thinking both Salah and Kane. Kane is going to be on such a high after winning the World Cup golden boot and going without Salah at the start looking at the fixtures is scary

    Back after a lovely meal and about to open a bottle. Should I look at FPL?

    Genuinely feels a bit empty to me right now what with the World Cup still on.

    • I hit autopick and I’ll be leaving it at that until the preseason games start.

        • That’s the thing… as soon as Mitro comes out of his summer hibernation and starts showing all the different combos and rotations it might pull me in haha

          Ah up and down to be honest mate. One minute I’m grand and doing loads round the house next I’m screwed. Case in point I’ve gone and pulled my intercostal muscles in my chest because I pushed the lawnmower up
          a hill when it broke down but oh well. Haha

      • I think that is very wise. Not spending five weeks of doing a team.And as every year half of the managers will be unhappy by GW 5 which will lead to early wildcards.

        • Yeah I never play my wildcard early. I always keep it for the Xmas madness but with the winter ‘break’ coming in I’m not sure if it’ll be as hectic.

      • The winter break will be introduced in the 2019/20 season and they said that it won’t affect the usual busy Christmas schedule.

      • For the last few years I’ve been playing with two teams. The main one with which I spend all week thinking about. Then the other is called team B where usually takes 20 minutes to set up before deadline. Guess what. The B team always does twice better.

    • I’ll do what I do every year have fun picking my team over the 5 weeks. Then mess it up and have a shocking start like usual

      • That’s it. We know what is gonna happen but still can’t help it with those master plans which always fail 😆

      • That’s it! Pick all the players you’ve researched and studied but in the end you just end up going with the template which obviously fails. It’s the tried and tested method of fpl.

        • great stuff mate, it’s been pretty decent so far, started my new job a couple of weeks ago which seems to be going quite well, the travelling is a bit shit but I’m hoping I can start working from home in a couple of months!
