Welcome to World Cup Semi Finals Live Match Chat. We are down to crunch time for the four remaining teams. They say the semi-finals is the cruellest round to exit a tournament, so all four sides will be determined to reach a World Cup Final and take a step closer to the ultimate prize.
The World Cup has turned into a European Championship in effect with just France, Belgium, England and Croatia remaining.
Tuesday’s semi between France and Belgium is likely to be the more entertaining spectacle of the two matches with the likes of Griezmann, Mbappe & Pogba lining up vs Lukaku, Hazard & KDB.
This is the fifth time France have reached the semi-final stage, while Belgium have only reached this stage once before, in 1986.
Wednesday sees England appear in a World Cup semi-final for the first time since 1990. Gareth Southgate’s youthful squad is the youngest at the World Cup and while they have taken advantage of a kind draw to get to this stage, there is growing belief that 52 years of hurt may be coming to an end! This is only the third time England have reached the last four.
England’s opponents will be spot-kick champs Croatia who have come through two successive penalty shoot-outs to reach the last four. The Croats have reached the semis just once before, in 1998 and remain heavily reliant on their midfield duo of Modric and Rakitic.
From a fantasy point of view we have 5 free transfers for this round and we can now own a maximum of six players from any one team.

That’s it for me, despite proclamations to the contrary I do give a shit about England once more so can’t bring myself to even watch the final. World Cup is done for me, roll on the Premier League.

France – Croatia final… What a horrible final that is, the greatest anticlimax of all anticlimaxes… I ain’t an England fan but I ain’t watching it either! Actually this hasn’t felt like the World Cup since Belgium beat Brazil, only European sides been left so it’s been like a EURO Cup… Nah, the feel of the WC for me are the nations from Africa, SA, Asia, always want one of them to do well…

I’m looking forward to seeing France stuff Croatia. I enjoyed the French performance last night.

Must say England did us proud this tournament and should be commended on making the fans believe in their nation once more. They aren’t the ‘golden’ generation but they should hold their heads high in the fact they got further than that so called golden generation. They are a very young side so hopefully this will strengthen them into taking it one step further next time! Well done England.

I don’t see any change in UTD this season unless they sign a real creator in midfield…or at least try to play Pogba up (by signing a DM, to partner with Matic)…. all those Mandzukics, Lukakus are useless unless there are Modrics, KDBs feeding them.
Fred will soon be another Mata/Hererra class of ordinary players – who went other way – from sharp to blunt.

In fairness to the likes of Kop, GP, Matt and others, they’ve been both complimentary (when deserved) and supportive. GP was on twitter only today admonishing one of his own for stupid comments re the Englush.
The comments I’ve seen elsewhere are beyond belief! Scots in particular, seems like it’s been inbred to hate the English!
On here it’s different, with decent fans but outside here it’s embarrassing!
I’ve been bombarded with slagging since the final whistle and half of it is from my dad! Haha
I’m a Scot & I was cheering for England, I made that clear days ago. The thing that riles us though, that the English can be a-holes pretty much on mass re us. I give you the example, and it has been incessant my whole life.
“Scot Andy Murray loses again…..” “British Andy Murray wins Wimbledon…” I know Cookie dislikes Welsh (I know why too) but it’s the same with Gareth Bale, “Welsh wizard fails to deliver as Wales crash out of WC qualifying” or ‘Britain’s Bale outshines CR7 in Champs league final”, I’ve even seen in print “Georgie Best, one of England’s finest”. And that winds us up no end.
There’s also the historical element, Cumberland/Longshanks massacred the Clans after we’d surrendered in 1745 – although that’s plain daft now, we all know story. Why do you think we have Flower of Scotland as our anthem???
Anyway rant over, I’m gutted for my English friends but think how you’ll waltz the Euros, and smile.

not sure where you’re looking Hatter but if you’re like me I have to remind myself on a daily basis that what people write on Twitter is generally a load of bollox and doesn’t reflect the general view, or indeed the sensible view in most cases.
Sadly these social media sites are an excuse for keyboard warriors to troll and write stuff that they haven’t got the bollox to say to people’s faces.
