Fantasy Football FF247 Team Game-week 11

Screen Shot 2015-10-16 at 15.02.28Another green arrow for the FF247 team, we managed a jump of about 80k spots. We scored 48 points, which was six points above the average and it placed us slightly inside the 1 million rank for the game-week. We now currently reside in 480K in the overall and while not by any means fantastic, there is some confidence now starting to surface within the team that we can finish at a decent rank by the end.

In goal we had Boaz Myhill who delivered another clean sheet, his second on the bounce for us. That makes it six in ten for the Baggie, but much tougher fixtures await and we will see if he can still deliver some returns over the next six game-weeks.

Our back three was only able to keep one clean sheet, this came via the City defender. So Kolarov got back on track, however Francis stayed on the same pathetic track as Bournemouth took another pounding. So after the zero from Francis we turned to Naughton as our last defender. Fortunately Kyle was able to grab an assist to make up somewhat for his inability to help the Swans keep a cleanie. Morgan, who we finally sat on the bench after weeks of piss poor returns naturally scored six points. So we have two things to say to Wes, FU and have a nice day!

Our mids toned it down this week as no one went off. Surprisingly it was Mahrez who scored the most after two weeks of being benched by Raineri. His six points was the high as KDB and Sanchez had a tough go of it only bringing in 5 points combined. Payet had an assist and that was good to get him to five points, that makes it six straight for the Frenchie with either a goal or an assist.

There are two types of consistencies in FPL. One like Vardy where you can be counted on almost every week to help the team along and then there is the one like Gomis. So while our captain was able to score and get us 10 points, Gomis has 11 points in the last six games. Many might ask what Gomis is still doing on the FF247 team? Great question! So before I lose my narrator job let me just move on. Pelle put on a Gomis type performance and that is pretty much all you need to know. Ok, onto our transfer plans, where I anonymously hope we sell our harmless Panther.

Transfer(s) for GW11 – SOLD Gomis & Francis, BOUGHT Bony & van Dijk
Gomis out was a given. His replacement was then a straight shoot-out. Well, straight ish, between four parties. Kane’s new found form vs Lukaku’s new found fixtures vs Giroud’s new found place in the team vs Bony’s not so new found place in a team as the main striker playing for a team bang in scoring form and hosting a recently leaky Norwich. It was close and took some posturing and manoeuvering but we got there in the end. The general consensus seemed to be that most would be happy with any of the aforementioned. Bony eventually won out but the rationale probably deserves a quick mention as we know it’s a choice many are toying with this week too…

Kane
FOR –
He’s on the back of a sudden break out performance with a hat-trick and Spurs host a managerless Villa. And it’s in the hallowed Monday Night Football spot.
His underlying stats suggested it wasn’t far away.

AGAINST –
His goals were somewhat gifted by a woeful defensive performance from Bournemouth.
Spurs’ fixtures aren’t great after this week with Arsenal, West Ham and Chelsea up next. You could equally argue for goals in all of those though.

Lukaku
FOR –
Fixtures! Sunderland, Villa and Bournemouth, in 3 of the next 4.

AGAINST –
He’s just soooo inconsistent!
Sunderland may have turned a corner with last weeks result and Big Sam getting his size 13’s under the table so this may not be the fixture it perhaps was 3 weeks ago.

[divider_1px]

Giroud
FOR –
He’s been gifted the No1 striker role again due to Walcott’s latest breakdown.
He’s proven to be consistent when given a run of games.

AGAINST –
Two games against Swansea and Spurs just don’t look or sound as enticing as what Bony has ahead. They also have Bayern away in between and have a multitude of injuries in their midfield which may obstruct their rhythm.

[divider_1px]

Bony
FOR –
He’s a bit of a flat track bully and the next 2 games look perfect for just that.
City look in the mood to smash any weaker teams for 6.
He plays for Man City.

AGAINST –
He may be pulled off early this week if the game is wrapped up with a view to the Champions League in midweek.

Our transfer meeting was all but finished and the beers were cracked open when someone, who shall remain nameless, casually dropped a bombshell on their way out – “just a thought, our defence is s**t, maybe we should buy van Dijk, see you tomorrow!!!”… There was no arguing with such logic and just like that it was decided to use our second FT. It was then a matter of deciding who to sell and aside from Kolarov they were all up for the chop. With Swansea set to play Norwich and Bournemouth in game-weeks 12&13 Naughton earned a stay of execution. Oxford has been a makeweight over the last few weeks and will continue to do that job over the coming weeks. So it came down to a toss of a coin between Francis & Morgan. Francis lost that toss and was promptly issued with his P45. We have high hopes for Virgil who has proved a threat from set pieces in recent weeks while the Saints should pick up some clean sheets over the coming weeks

Our team in full…

Team Selection
The addition of van Dijk has installed a certain degree of confidence in us with regards to our defence, although this new found confidence is likely to be short lived. Van Dijk goes straight into our starting XI where he is joined by Kolarov and Wes Morgan.

Our midfield and attack picks itself with new boy Bony leading the line ably assisted by a whole host of others from whom we are expecting so much this week.

Captain – Kevin de Bruyne
This was decided within seconds. In fact there were no votes for any other player. We expected the odd Bony or Pelle argument but got none which probably speaks volumes for the impact he’s had so far.

Our vice-captain is Graziano Pelle
Should some unfortunate mishap befall KdB then we would be happy enough for Pelle to lead from the front for us.
