Fantasy Football FF247 Team Game-week 7

Finally!!! I guess even a broken clock is right twice a day. We were able to move about 500k spots in the overall and almost got inside 2 millionth in the overall. Still terrible we know, but with the defeat of Wenger at the hands of Jose we now know that things might be normalising a bit. So expect the FF247 team to continue to climb methodically up the rankings as hopefully more and more teams quit. Well we are sure you are excited to read how we got our highest score of the season – 55, so without further ado, wait…55?! Oh well maybe that means we got all the low scores for this season out of the way. Maybe.

In goal we had the trusty hands of Tim Krul who didn’t fail to deliver exactly what any competent team owner would expect, 1 point. Once again, who suggested Krul for a keeper on a wildcard two weeks ago? Someone in the FF247 committee needs to be sacked or shot. Or both.

The defence was finally led by someone else other than Kolarov. Francis led the way this week with a much needed 8 points after securing a clean sheet and a pair of bonus points. Kolarov took the week off after delivering five consecutive weeks of good returns. As one or, better said, the only one who had not disappointed us until now, all is forgiven, just don’t get benched now! Morgan is another one of those that falls into the Krul category. Who recommended him on a wildcard and why haven’t they been sacked? Worse than that who started him over Naughton? Think there is definitely a mole in the team committee.

Mahrez once again brought home the goods. While we are happy about his returns, pretty much everyone who is anyone owns him already. You would have to be Potty or the FF247 Community team manager not to 😉 KDB came with it in GW6. Considering his low ownership this was the most welcomed score of the week for us, as he more than anyone was a difference maker. Pedro and Sanchez once again disappointed with a combined 5 points. Think these two might be on their last legs with the team committee, who will look to place the blame on someone other than themselves.

Gomis… the disappointment. We don’t have him, he knocks them in for fun, we buy him and the Panther turns into Balotelli. Well at least we can still count on favourite son Callum Wilson to bring home the bacon. Another goal and another bonus point, keep it up son. At his price some might see him as last season’s Kane. Our last man and perennial site team captain Aguero, didn’t blank but didn’t set the FPL world on fire either. Hopefully we will still be on him when he finally explodes for a big score.

Transfer(s) for GW7 – Tim Krul OUT, Boaz Myhill IN
We wanted Martial for this week, we really did. We needed funds though and with two free transfers in the bank it felt like an easy fix until we considered who the makeweight had to be. And that’s where we hit a brick wall. Kolarov? Not likely with City’s games ahead. Sanchez? Hmmm, maybe. Probably the only other viable option. If we did that though then he’d be gone and lost for a good while as reversing that decision would hurt so we decided against it just in case he suddenly wakes up again in the next few weeks.

With a heavy heart we decided to leave young Anthony to… well, pretty much everyone else. We’d have had to lose Gomis in the deal and that felt a little odd too so all in all it was a considered decision given the players involved and we decided to stick it out. We did however buy an extra long sofa so we can all hide behind it whilst Utd inevitably take Sunderland apart on Saturday.

So how did we counter this ‘loss’. This loss of potentially missing out on an easy 20 odd point captain / hat-trick hero? Well, naturally, we went and bought a goalkeeper! Really, sometimes, the absurdity doesn’t hit you until you sit down and write it all out. Maybe that’s the ultimate rate my team answer – ‘go write it down in detail and see if it still makes sense’!

Either way we decided to use one transfer rather than than lose it and carry the other over for next week and so we had a long rueful look at Krul. In truth, it was barely a glance. He glanced back. And immediately he knew the writing was on the wall. To be fair to the lad there was no fuss, no tantrums, no tea cups thrown. He simply packed up his stuff and walked wearily out of our office. He knew the game was up.

And so in strode our new goalkeeper in shining Pulis armour. Made of pure gold plated clean sheets. A man of valour and stature. Four shut-outs in six games. Penetrated only by City and Chelsea thus far. Playing for a manager whose sole purpose in life is not to be scored on. Please all be upstanding as we welcome Boaz Myhill to the FF247 team!

Underwhelmed? Yeah, so were we. Gomis, Kolarov and Sanchez better repay this leap of faith big time!

Our team in full…

Team Selection
Whichever way you cut it our defence looks shaky at best this week so really it’s just a hit and hope job. Morgan was the lucky man as he gets a rest and a chance to reflect on his recent run of scores of 1, 2, 2, 2, 1 and 1. The midfield and attack picks itself and we are hoping they can carry the defence through this one and on paper it looks promising…

Captain
Our captain this week is Pedro
After a lightening start to his Chelsea career with a goal and an assist on the opening day Pedro has cooled somewhat since with just one assist since but with Chelsea looking more like their old selves last weekend and given the current plight of this weeks opposition we feel that he has a great opportunity to re-announce himself this week.

Our vice-captain is Riyad Mahrez
Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. Frankly you’d think we’d have learned our lesson by now as our seemingly ever present vice-captian spends most weeks mocking our actual captain. In his six games so far Mahrez has only failed to register a double digit score the once. And so again when you write it down…
