FPL Captain Picks For Gameweek 23
This weekend’s captaincy choice was an open-and-shut case for most FPL managers as soon as the double fixtures were announced.
Regardless of form or any other mitigating factors that could potentially impact the decision, the armband was always going to be blue.
And even if it proves to be the incorrect option in terms of points, effective ownership (EO) makes Haaland a no-brainer. But if the <15% of non-owners wish to look elsewhere, we have a few alternative fantasy league tips below.
Bukayo Saka or Eddie Nketiah
Given their record at The Emirates (8-1-0) and the Citizens’ slight wobble, only three wins in their last six, I’m leaning towards Arsenal assets in the double.
Only Newcastle have taken points in an otherwise unblemished record, with the Gunners amassing the second-best xG and the best xG conceded data in the Premier League (+1.4xGD).
Brentford arrive first with bottom-half goals against on the road (18), although they are over-performing their xClean Sheet metric by a smidgeon.
City have also been uncharacteristically fragile at the back, with on and off-the-field problems impacting the team.
Pep has been tinkering with his set-up, and the side is struggling to adapt its style to accommodate Erling Haaland while their current squad profile may be reaching the end of their cycle.
Therefore, the only difficulty I’m having is deciding whether Bukayo Saka or Eddie Nketiah is my best option.
