FPL Fixtures Analysis Gameweek 8 2016-17 Welcome to FPL Fixtures Analysis Gameweek 8 : Depending on who you are, the return of FPL might be a godsend. Maybe you’ve done nothing but wait for the international break to be over so that the Premier League might return, and you can get back to your one and only hobby. Maybe FPL is the only thing you have going on outside of work and family. And if that’s you, then this past week has probably been tortuous. But for some of us, the international break allowed us to take in those things we’ve been neglecting for a while. I mean…we have Trump v Clinton going on (and most people say that it’s the best game in town). We have playoff baseball starting up. The NHL is back this week. Oh, and there’s this little matter of the NFL now being in full ...[Read More]
FPL Fixtures Analysis Gameweek 5 2016-17 Welcome to FPL Fixtures Analysis Gameweek 5 2016-17. There’s a great Louis CK bit at the beginning of one of his specials where he acknowledges that he has trouble knowing what to say to start his show. It’s tough. Too much preamble and it sounds forced, but not enough banter at the top makes it look like you just don’t care about proper etiquette as you talk to your audience. I kind of wanted to get this intro right because it’s a huge shift for me on this site. Starting this round, I’ll be taking over the Fixtures article on a weekly basis. I know, right? What does the MLS guy know about tracking and predicting Premier League fixtures? Well I know more than some and less than others, but I’m punctual in writing articles and I’m fanatical about wat...[Read More]
FPL Fixtures Analysis Gameweek 7 2016-17 Welcome to FPL Fixtures Analysis Gameweek 7. It’s really tough to write an article following a week when things just didn’t quite go to script. I mean, who are we kidding here? Did we think that Man City would win away to Swansea? Yeah, of course. But did you think that Everton would get blanked against Bournemouth? Did anybody think that Liverpool would somehow manage to score 5 goals with seemingly 8 different goalscorers (not one of them named Firmino)? And how about West Ham? Surely with all of that talent they could’ve put forth at least a single goal? Nah, sorry. And after all of that disappointment, we just start again. It’s kind of what makes fantasy football the best hobby in the world, isn’t it? We just start again, maybe with a bit more w...[Read More]
FPL Fixtures Analysis Gameweek 4 2016-17 Welcome to FPL Fixtures Analysis Gameweek 4 2016-17. Welcome, welcome, welcome to our fixture analysis for the week! The first three weeks of the season are in the books and the transfer window has slammed shut until January. All was right in the world, and then… the first of many annoying international breaks. Surely planned for no purpose other than to simply to frustrate us. The footballers themselves seem to enjoy it but to the clubs, their fans and, most importantly, the fantasy football managers these matches are nothing but a chance for their players to get injured and suffer jetlag ahead of week 4. Did your players survive? Did you survive? For many of us this international lull has been a time of fantasy introspection. ‘To wildcard or not t...[Read More]
FPL Fixtures Analysis Gameweek 5 2016-17 Welcome to FPL Fixtures Analysis Gameweek 6 I have to admit, I was a bit nervous putting out last week’s article. Not only did I make the rookie mistake of making Everton my top pick (as a homer, I could’ve at least put them at #3), but I also made Watford my second pick, even though they had to face Man Utd over the weekend. Was I surprised that both teams had the ability to win 3-1 over their opponents? Not really. Am I ashamed that this is a bit of a humble brag? A little bit, but I’ll manage that shame with a grin. There are a lot of moving pieces in play this week. The template team isn’t so much of a template anymore, and it seems like everybody has a strong opinion of who is or isn’t really a ‘must have’. And quickly people are turning their ...[Read More]

FPL Fixtures Game-week 1 Fantasy Football Tips Welcome to Fixtures Analysis Game-week 1 Fantasy Football Tips. The last time we spoke to you about ‘Fixtures’ it was May 3rd, 37 painstaking GW’s in and tempers were flaring. Keyboards were getting bashed. ‘Delete account’ buttons were being hovered over like no mans business. Just two excruciating rounds of FPL remained before we could all take the much needed break to alleviate the stress and moisten our then dry tear ducts once again. Now, having rebooted our interest and let the dust settle it’s time to get stuck back into the game we all love so much, and you know what that means; Fixtures, Tips, Capo’s and that hellish, unpawnable release of a Friday afternoon that our resident Cookie Monster lo...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 37 36 down and now just the 2 to go. The last real key GW of the season is now upon us and no doubt the usual mix of glee and horror awaits, luring us in with promises of a bonanza week, before dishing out one last kick in the gut to send us on our merry way for the summer. The big guns failed to deliver again last time out as Arsenal stumbled over the line against bloody Norwich and City cemented their place as this seasons No1 flop from those challenging for the title, much to the displeasure of us fantasy folk and don’t get us started on Liverpool and their merry-go-round team! Last week we featured West Ham, Liverpool and Sunderland as those with the better DGW fixtures as well as Arsenal due to their handy enough schedule, however much they st...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 36 Well, that fairly brought us back down to earth, eh? Following on from DGW34’s bonanza hauls and colossal scoring, where the average was a handsome 79 points, the blank week was an all too familiar one. An abysmal average of just 39 speaks for itself really and matters weren’t helped by another batch of unpredictable results. Arsenal whiffed against a somewhat resurgent Black Cats team, Liverpool threw away a two goal lead to draw with Newcastle and most surprisingly, title contenders Tottenham bottled it against West Brom of all teams, at home, and all but guaranteed the most incredible of outcomes this season, that of Leicester becoming Champions. So where does it all end? How much longer do we have to endure the madness for before we ca...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 33 Brace yourselves, it’s officially silly season! That time of year when all things fantasy centre on the precious double gameweeks that we have waited so long to fret over. Its now time to sort the men from the boys, the regular from the casual or indeed the wise from the foolish, whatever the case may be, but whichever way you dress it up it is certainly time to get excited about the potential of what lies ahead. This weekend’s action is nothing but a taster with just Crystal Palace and Everton playing twice before we move into the big one; GW34’s ten team extravaganza where the likes of Aguero, Sanchez, Payet and Coutinho will roll out twice, promising an end to our long-suffering fantasy woes from this beyond difficult season. Due ...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 32 What was I to do? The wife was going to be out of town all week, leaving me at home with our two young boys. I was housebound for a whole week of evenings and I needed a plan. So I made a list. Idea number one – “Buy a workout DVD”. Maybe one of those intense P90X ones. Yeah, that’d be great I thought. I could lose a load of flab, and maybe even rediscover a noticeable boundary between my chin and my neck. But wait. What was I thinking? I live in Texas, and so even at an “obese” BMI by UK standards, I was still the skinny one in my new home. Yep. Exercise could wait. I needed to be more creative…
Fantasy Football Fixtures Game-week 31 Here we go again, another week of fixture fun as the race for glory in the world of fantasy heats up another notch. The points continued to flow last game-week, at least for those of us paying attention anyway, and whether you fell into the Aguero trap again or made the smart choice of going after Villa by picking Harry Kane as your capo for the week, it seems most of us navigated the first blank week of the season quite well and can now look forward to a few straightforward weeks of FPL action. No blanks, no doubles. Yet. The story of the week has to be the eventual, and somewhat inevitable sacking of Steve McClaren. A truly woeful effort at steadying the ship, the ex-England boss has been replaced by none other than Rafael Benitez who not long ago w...[Read More]
