Fantasy Football Tips

The Tips article, which will be released on Thursdays, is where we take a look at which players should be considered for your team, both on a short-term and longer-term basis. While the more obvious football tips selections will, naturally, be included, we will also endeavour to find those hidden bargains and differentials that could set you apart from your rivals and help your performance in your mini-leagues.

Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! GW8 The USA Edition

Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! GW8 The USA Edition Welcome to the Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! GW8 USA Edition article. Having heard what our European writers have had to say about their own FPL seasons , Change of plans, the American contingent finished their part of this double edition of GABO first (just like the Ryder Cup), so we will go with them. Don’t let this put you off though We jest of course, because we know we have a good many regular site member from ‘over there’ and they all clearly know their stuff. They follow it as avidly as we do in the UK and in many cases are actually proving to be more successful. We here at FF247 love playing their game – MLS, and we would like to think we have had a fair degree of success in doing so. Except when we completely miss the...[Read More]

Fantasy Premier League Tips Gameweek 5

Fantasy Premier League Tips Gameweek 5 Welcome to Fantasy Premier League Tips Gameweek 5. Last season we moaned because there were limited options which lead to a template team forming early on in the season. This season we’re moaning because there’s perhaps too much choice. There’s just no pleasing some folk! Now the obvious thing with ‘too much choice’ is that you probably have more chance of actually missing out on points from players who you considered but passed over in favour of others. ‘Kane / Costa or Lukaku’ is a perfect example from this past week. They were the 3 main candidates to replace Kun. If you chose Kane then you were relieved but probably thankful for his late goal. And left hoping Costa wouldn’t do much more. He did. He went one better wit...[Read More]

Fantasy Premier League Tips Gameweek 7

Fantasy Premier League Tips Gameweek 7 Welcome to Fantasy Premier League Tips Gameweek 7.So, here we are then, at the end of another gameweek that saw many people wildcarding – myself included! I hope you’re not sat there with your head in your hands, wondering why you picked that differential who flopped and are, instead, gleefully looking at the points that players including Aguero, Sanchez and Son have accrued. Unfortunately, I didn’t have Son in my team – I just wanted to include an anagram of ass in this opening paragraph to grab your attention. This gameweek is, I’m afraid, followed by an international break. Yes, another one of those weekends where it feels like part of you is missing as you pretend to be interested in the few football matches that are looming. Don’t worry tho...[Read More]

Fantasy Premier League Tips Game-week 4 Life without Aguero

Fantasy Premier League Tips Game-week 4 Life without Aguero Welcome to Fantasy Premier League Tips Game-week 4. ‘Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water’ So we all knew it was coming at some point, we just all presumed it would be a hamstring and not an elbow that did the damage. In some respects a hammy would have been kinder to us FPL folks as at least we would have had a fair stretch to contemplate life without him but as it is we now have a small window in which to negotiate around selling him, picking the correct replacement for a bit and then planning to buy him back. Or not. That ones for the brave though. Or the FPL suicidal. We shall talk to you lot later! Let’s just assume we are talking to the sensible majority here though and take a look at what all...[Read More]

Fantasy Premier League Tips Gameweek 6

Fantasy Premier League Tips Gameweek 6 Welcome to Fantasy Premier League Tips Gameweek 6. Writing this and having intensely assessed twitter and the very busy message boards of FF247 since about 2000 hours on Friday night, I would say that there are more than just a handful of you about to begin a week long tinker of the old first half-season wildcard. If you don’t have it, don’t worry these tips may well still apply to you, most probably as you search for a makeweight to getting Sergio Aguero back in your squads ahead of his unleashing against Swansea City this coming Saturday. Do you sacrifice the other half of the big Manchester two in Zlatan of the United or are you upgrading your second (or third) striker with the almost inevitable downgrade of a premium midfielder? Whichever your ave...[Read More]

Grab, Avoid or Bore Off!

Grab, Avoid or Bore off! Welcome to the another instalment of Grab, Avoid or Bore off for the 2016-17 season. As most of you know, every International Break the four horsemen of the Apocalypse…actually three, since I just ask the questions, well…come to think of it, two, since Kop is on vacation. However we weren’t about to do a Bore off one short, so we looked around came up a unanimous name (I asked no one, just decided on him) to replace Kop for this edition. So welcome in replacement Amigo, Gallant Pioneer. He brings legendary knowledge, mostly in other things, but who cares, he will do. Well known for all his work on the site and in particular with the FF247 Community team. So let us get to it and see what the 2 Amigos and the friend of a friend think in this new edi...[Read More]

Fantasy Premier League Tips Game-week 3

Fantasy Premier League Tips Game-week 3 Welcome to Fantasy Premier League Tips Game-week 3. So, here we are then. You’re going to have to bear with me as this is my first article for the FF247 website. Being so early in the season and with a drop in overall rank already to my name, I’ll apologise in advance if your team follows mine into joining the red arrows – and I’m not talking about the air display team. Well, it’s game-week three already – the Rio Olympics have finished and we’re celebrating the outstanding achievements of athletes from around the world. Though, of course, it’s been all about Team GB in the Swirly household. Who can forget the talents of Mo, Andy, Jessica, Bradley, Laura and indeed everyone?! It’s made me clean down the bike, go out for a few miles, get saddle sore (...[Read More]

Fantasy Premier League Tips Game-week 2

Fantasy Premier League Tips Game-week 2 Little old me of captains article fame, has been asked to join the rota for Tips this season and quite frankly, how could I possibly say no? Well, with Kop having those compromising personal pictures of me and that old bird from the telly, that’s pretty much why I couldn’t. In all seriousness, I’m delighted to be able to spread my wings in to the world of Tips and I look forward from time to time to bringing you who I think you need or should at least consider for your fantasy squads. I am honoured to be asked to write these as it has always been my favourite article of the week. I absolutely love to hear who other fantasy managers like and the reasons behind them. The bar is high and with Kop and Initowinit being the forerunners, I have a tough act ...[Read More]

Fantasy Premier League Tips Game-week 1

Fantasy Premier League Tips Game-week 1 Welcome to Fantasy Premier League Tips GW1. Ah jaysus we’re not back here again?! Last season the majority of us endured 38 game-weeks from hell and you’d think this would have been enough for us to call it a day. But no, we’re clearly gluttons for punishment as yet again we’re back to trip the light fantastic. So how did you while away the hours over the summer months? Do anything exciting? It’s been a somewhat exciting summer in the Premier League. Pep & Jose are now shacked up in Manchester trying to see who can spend the most money. With United spending almost £100m on a kid they let go for nothing a few years back I suspect they’ll win. Liverpool continue to buy attacking midfielders, maybe one of them can play at left back? Arsenal continu...[Read More]

Community Musings – A Horse and a Tiger!

Community Musings – A Horse and a Tiger! The 2016/17 pre-season will go down as the summer of musings. We had Cookie musing on the FPL release day over a plate of sardines, we had Mito musing over a plate of sardines and salmons, trying his best to distinguish between the two, we had GP musing over an entire shoal. The whole thing was beginning to feel a bit fishy. We aren’t quite sure why so many FPL’ers gravitate towards animals to complete their identity but a simple twitter search on the phenomenon reveals all manner from the FPLTortoise straight through to the FPLGreyhound. What we needed for some clarity were some horses and some tigers…. shazan, we got 2 e-mails, one from a horse and one from a tiger! Both offering up some musings on how they usually approach...[Read More]

Grab, Avoid or Bore Off!

Grab, Avoid or Bore off! Welcome to the opening instalment of Grab, Avoid or Bore off for the 2016-17 season. Lovely to be back with you the wonderful FPL community and guess what I have in store for all of you? The same 3 fellas who always do it…well, that was an exciting announcement. Much like Wenger, I don’t like to spend money for any new strikers, so no need to break up the 3 Amigos. Unlike Wenger’s crew, this trio of attacking talent always delivers the goods, sort of. Showing that they haven’t lost a step and have all the important nuggets of information you all desire, they reveal to us things like Cahill is Cahill (shocker), that Kop is actually Mr. Excitement, that I might have a soft spot for Costa, that Cookie is absolutely ready when it comes to cheap ...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 38

Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 38 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16 So here we are, game-week 38. It’s been a strange old season and I’ve moaned most of the way through it! I’ll try and remain positive today but I can’t make any promises. Before we move onto FPL I’d like to congratulate Leicester on winning the PL. They’ve brought a touch of class to the league over the course of the season…they’re a likeable bunch of players, you can’t help but smile when Claudio Ranieri speaks and to have Andrea Bocelli perform before the Everton game last weekend just oozed class. Leicester I salute you. Now back to matters at hand. It’s been a funny old season and predicting where the points were going to come from has proved tricky. As I type my final intro of the season the highest scoring play...[Read More]
