Community Musings – A Horse and a Tiger! The 2016/17 pre-season will go down as the summer of musings. We had Cookie musing on the FPL release day over a plate of sardines, we had Mito musing over a plate of sardines and salmons, trying his best to distinguish between the two, we had GP musing over an entire shoal. The whole thing was beginning to feel a bit fishy. We aren’t quite sure why so many FPL’ers gravitate towards animals to complete their identity but a simple twitter search on the phenomenon reveals all manner from the FPLTortoise straight through to the FPLGreyhound. What we needed for some clarity were some horses and some tigers…. shazan, we got 2 e-mails, one from a horse and one from a tiger! Both offering up some musings on how they usually approach...[Read More]
Grab, Avoid or Bore off! Welcome to the opening instalment of Grab, Avoid or Bore off for the 2016-17 season. Lovely to be back with you the wonderful FPL community and guess what I have in store for all of you? The same 3 fellas who always do it…well, that was an exciting announcement. Much like Wenger, I don’t like to spend money for any new strikers, so no need to break up the 3 Amigos. Unlike Wenger’s crew, this trio of attacking talent always delivers the goods, sort of. Showing that they haven’t lost a step and have all the important nuggets of information you all desire, they reveal to us things like Cahill is Cahill (shocker), that Kop is actually Mr. Excitement, that I might have a soft spot for Costa, that Cookie is absolutely ready when it comes to cheap ...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 38 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16 So here we are, game-week 38. It’s been a strange old season and I’ve moaned most of the way through it! I’ll try and remain positive today but I can’t make any promises. Before we move onto FPL I’d like to congratulate Leicester on winning the PL. They’ve brought a touch of class to the league over the course of the season…they’re a likeable bunch of players, you can’t help but smile when Claudio Ranieri speaks and to have Andrea Bocelli perform before the Everton game last weekend just oozed class. Leicester I salute you. Now back to matters at hand. It’s been a funny old season and predicting where the points were going to come from has proved tricky. As I type my final intro of the season the highest scoring play...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 37 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16 And so we have another hallowed DGW to negotiate, and the last one of the season, so you’d best make it count. Leave nothing in the dressing room, as they say. Give it 110%. Have no regrets. ‘Tis better to have loved and lost: Than to never have loved at all. Anyway enough of the philosophicals from past Premier League greats such as Jamie Carragher and Lord Tennyson… Last time we had one, we decided to change tact on Tips a bit and take a statistical look at all of the teams involved in an attempt to paint a picture of each and every double team and give some analysis on whether we felt they were worth chasing or just best leaving alone. And as it proved extremely popular, hopefully helpful and ult...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 36 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16 It is often said that getting over the line is the hardest part of a race, presumably by cheeky rapscallions who refuse to release the finishing tape properly at marathons. But is it really the case? As soon as the end roars into view the adrenaline bestows upon us a fresh surge of enthusiasm to complete our mission. A mission, which we chose to accept last August; one that became impossible once we realised we were all 300 points behind a bunch of flukey sods who started the season with 3 Leicester players. Nevertheless, we’ve come this far and we’ll all moan about it being gone come summertime. So let’s all rally together for a final hurrah as we push towards the chequered flag and allow this foll...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 35 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16 As I sit here writing another bleedin’ intro, DGW34 has yet to come to a conclusion. Unfortunately. It was the double game-week that promised so much but for many of us but it has been something of a disappointment, for some. We saved our wildcards, our Bench Boost & Triple Captain chips so we could attack the double with all guns blazing. Unfortunately many of the PL managers had not read the script and decided that this was the week to rotate with my mate Jurgen being the biggest culprit. If we’re honest with ourselves most of us expected a certain amount of rotation as Liverpool & City have progressed to European semis while the FA Cup semi-finals are this coming weekend. However the biggest kick in the te...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 34 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16 Maybe not the best week to have activated a wildcard on then it would seem! That was probably the elephant in the corner which went unmentioned all along though – most GW33 wildcard teams looked weaker for 33 than they perhaps did previously for that week alone, based upon the the presented fixtures, and so it proved. With that particular anomaly out of the way though we all look ahead to GW34, which of course was the ultimate prize in the above consideration. For most. There were of course many camps this week. Some who had, did, and regretted. Some who did, didn’t, and were glad. Some who never had, couldn’t, and revelled in the results. You know what we are talking about. The new WC / BB / Chips ...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 33 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16 “There’s 106 miles to Chicago, we’ve got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark out, and we’re wearing sunglasses. Hit it.” Sit back and enjoy the ride folks. The majority of us have stumbled from one disaster to another over the past 32 game-weeks but the six remaining game-weeks will provide each and every one of us with the opportunity to finish our seasons on a high. Double game-week season is upon us and like all good duck hunters the best of us have spent the last number of weeks preparing for them and the rest of us simply activated a wildcard. Speaking of double game-weeks, despite what some might say there is no right or wrong way to approach. Some will attack them w...[Read More]
Fantasy football Trends From The Top – GW32 Welcome to this week’s edition of Trends From the Top. What are the leaders doing and what will they being doing? There are interesting weeks ahead and it will be interesting to see what are leaders are up to. Are they prepping their teams for DGW33 and do they have a wildcard in their back pocket?
Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 32 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16 “The weekend has landed. All that exists now is clubs, drugs, pubs and parties. I’ve got 48 hours off from the world, man. I’m gonna blow steam out my head like a screaming kettle, I’m gonna talk cod shit to strangers all night, I’m gonna lose the plot on the dancefloor. The free radicals inside me are freakin’, man! Tonight I’m Jip Travolta, I’m Peter Popper, I’m going to never-never land with my chosen family, man. We’re gonna get more spaced out than Neil Armstrong ever did, anything could happen tonight, you know? This could be the best night of my life. I’ve got 73 quid in my back burner – I’m gonna wax the lot, man! The Milky Bars are on me...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 31 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16 And so like the proverbial bus… We waited and waited for weeks and then suddenly at 3pm on Tuesday afternoon the Premier League piped up with no less than 19 fixture rearrangements, all of which are now part of either DGW34 or DGW37. There’s still one to be decided but we shall come to that later. And so ensued panic and excitement in equal measure. There are a few camps on this, those with a WC to burn and some chips to throw on that fire, those with chips but no WC fire to burn them on and those poor souls with neither who are currently just staring at a pile of wood, with damp matches. We shall come to those losers later as well! Much of the discussion since the announcements has centred largely around...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 30 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16 Hello! It’s been quite a while since you’ve had to endure my waffle around these parts. Thanks to a combination of FA Cup weekends, work & moving house (I’m currently residing with the in-laws!!!) I’ve managed a few weeks off. A massive thanks to Init who has produced a number of superb articles in my absence. And what a week to make my return, the infamous GW30. We really are at the business end of the season now with our first serious blank of the season and a number of doubles just around the corner, we expect to have some news on the doubles later this week. With only five games taking place this week I would hope you have started your preparation before now! If you haven’t I imagine you will be taking a hit...[Read More]
