Kops Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 11 Another game-week another introduction to write! If you haven’t worked it out by now I don’t particularly enjoy writing the introduction every week, so much so that I might just start reviewing films, TV shows or whatever else tickles my fancy in any given week, and I’m even open to suggestions. But for now I’d best stick to FPL! So let me make a number of broad observations based on the opening 10 game-weeks. At the back, the old reliables are coming to the fore with City, Arsenal & West Brom having multiple entries in the top 10 scoring defenders. In midfield it’s unsurprisingly a lot more fractious, what is surprising is the fact that Payet, Mahrez, Ayew & Wijnaldum all feature in the top 5 scoring midfielders. Up front it’s been the seaso...[Read More]
Kops Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 10 Great Scott!! It’s hard to believe that Back to the Future is 30 years old this year, makes you feel old, doesn’t it? With today being ‘Back to the Future’ day it got me thinking, wouldn’t it be great if we had an FPL DeLorean? We’d all have had Jamie Vardy from the start and we’d all have captained Georginio Wijnaldum last weekend, ok so we may not have captained Wijnaldum because even with the aid of time travel no one would have believed Newcastle would score six. However we don’t have the luxury of a DeLorean with a flux capacitor so we must do with the old reliables consisting of stats, form & fixtures, although depending on how you use them you may consider them to be unreliable. Luckily you guys have us and we’ve spent the last week studyi...[Read More]
Kops Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 9 After a tough start to the season fantasy managers around the globe were in desperate need of something special to ignite their season and then GW8 happened and in particular Sergio Aguero happened. The Argentine scored five times against a hapless Newcastle team and those who captained him raked in an incredible 50 points… spare a thought for those who didn’t captain and have chuckle at those who didn’t even own him! This prompted a significant number of managers to take an early dip into the transfer market as his price was surely going to increase. And increase it did, unfortunately Aguero has picked up a serious injury and these managers are left with egg on their faces. I won’t point out the moral of the story, you all know it already. The ...[Read More]
Differentials Explored Fantasy Football Game-week 9 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16 The moral of this article is to perhaps be careful what you say in the comments section sometimes, as one wrong move can find you stuck behind a keyboard for two days flat rueing something as simple as asking “Hey, FF247, can we have a differentials article please”. Never one to look a gift horse in the mouth we of course said yes you can. When you write it. Some would have laughed it off and said fair enough but to the credit of Pancho he took it as a challenge and only went and wrote one. And it’s a good one too. Hence you sitting here now reading it. Hats off to community regular and now article debutant Pancho as he presents you with his differential picks for the weeks ahead. T...[Read More]
Grab, Avoid or Bore off! Welcome to our second installment of Grab, Avoid or Bore off for the 2015-16 season. For those new to the site, it is a simple question and answer segment that covers everything from the serious to the absurd. So why do we call it that? Tradition, is the easy answer as we basically have veered so far off course that it barely has any resemblance to the original format. Thanks to our members for some of the ideas on the questions, we tried to include most of them or some semblance of them. Well enough of the small talk from me, let’s see what the girls have to say about a number of topics ranging from FPL dilemmas to who is cuter?
Kops Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 8 Where do I begin? Seriously I’m at a loss at how best to describe the opening seven game-weeks of the season. Words such as carnage, disaster & catastrophe spring to mind but I’m not sure if they would do it justice. In previous seasons we had the old reliables who performed week in week out, they formed the bedrock of your team and you filled the rest in around them. Sergio Aguero has scored once in seven games and this is despite City having scored 13 goals. Last season’s player of the season Eden Hazard has managed just a goal & two assists, the least said about Chelsea the better. Aleksandar Kolarov scored 46 points in the opening five game-weeks which led to a mad scramble to get him in, in the last two game-weeks he’s scored nothing. I c...[Read More]
Kops Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 7 First of all a massive thanks to both Calvin & Bryan for doing such a wonderful job with the tips article over the last two weeks, while I enjoyed the odd Sagres. Either of you fancy the gig on a fulltime basis?! So what’s happened in my absence? Well Bry’s mate Jez Corbyn was elected leader of the British Labour party. Apple released yet another update. The rugby World Cup has kicked off. And what about FPL? Well that’s still an unpredictable mess. There’s a rumour doing the rounds that a template team has formed, however that very same rumour also suggests that said template team is s**t and with this in mind we’ve decided to take a look at a number of differentials this week. As Ewan McGregor once said, Choose a life. Choose a job. Choose a car...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 6 It illustrates just how troubled the waters beneath Stamford Bridge are at the moment for Chelsea that no-one, from a team that cruised to the Premier League crown last year, is being considered a ‘must-have’ this season. In fact, barring Pedro and the budget friendly Begovic, few FPL squads have any Blues representation. Sure, Jose will be hurt by the defeats; he’ll be smarting at the defensive lapses; he’ll be befuddled by key players’ complete lack of form; but you know what will leave the Portuguese inconsolably crestfallen? That none of his men feature in this week’s Fantasy Football 247 Tips article. What fickle beasts we all are. Shame on you.
Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 5 Right then, hopefully this here international break will have been long enough for our FPL players to put down whatever it is they’ve been taking that’s messed up their systems and have a nice long word with themselves so that normal service can resume. This whole unpredictable shtick has gone on long enough! When the GW4 Dreamteam can be purchased for a paltry 65.3M then you know something is amiss. That’s not to say that big-hitters haven’t shot blanks before, or that budget-friendly options haven’t scored well previously, but it is certainly one of the stranger FPL starts in memory when these things happen en masse as they have done in the first four GWs. The 5 most expensive forwards (excluding Daniel Sturridge) have playe...[Read More]
Kops Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 4 FPL managers we’re regularly told to remain patient and not to panic, but given the current circumstances it’s proving difficult to do either! Who could have predicted that United, City & Liverpool would keep three clean sheets in the first three games, that Kompany & Kolarov would amass 31 points in that period, that Riyad Mahrez would be the top points scorer or that Eden Hazard would have just 8pts after three games? It really has been the perfect storm! The fun is likely to continue through until 6pm next Tuesday evening when the transfer window closes. Expect a few surprises between now & then, while you should prepare for these surprises to cause some further headaches as we once again try to establish who’s first choice in a particu...[Read More]
Is it time to play that wild card or take a points hit? Analytical Guide to Fixtures GW4-GW11 So the 2015-16 season has started and many experienced FPL managers have had terrible starts (well based on my own mini-leagues anyway). Chelsea’s form is/was seemingly in decline and with some big hitters like Sanchez and Aguero fit again many managers have already started to panic. Key players like Hazard, Rooney, Sterling, Ivanovic and Walcott are leaving us with captain scores of 4 (and in my GW1 even less!). The only players who seem to be delivering are the City old boys, Man Utd’s new right back and Leicester City’s attackers.
Kops Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 3 As John McEnroe said time & time again, ‘you cannot be serious’! In GW1 the average score was 34pts which they said was an aberration. They said things would return to normality in GW2 and all would be right in the world again. Well they were wrong! While the average score increased to 44pts, predicting where the points are going to come from remains more of a lottery than ever. If fantasy football mirrored real life we would be living in a world where Donald Trump could be the next leader of the free world. Don’t believe me? Well if Arouna Kone can pick up 16pts in two game-weeks well then who’s to say Trump can’t do it, after all this is the US we’re talking about. Ok, so I’ve clearly left the intro until the last minute and I’m waffling, it’s n...[Read More]
