Kops Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 2 Can we start again? Seriously?! No one in their wildest dreams or nightmares could have predicted that the average score for GW1 would be 34pts. I mean, not even the ‘experts’ could have predicted that Thibaut Courtois would be sent off! Before mass panic sets in it is worth remembering that this was a freak game-week, only two players in the GW1 ‘Dream Team’ were owned by more than 10% of managers. Of course some of these players will perform well over the course of the season and a number of them are actually discussed below. However this is not to suggest you should tear up your team just to bring these players in, remember you didn’t pick your squad for just the opening game-week. So on the basis of what we witnessed in GW1 we have below outlined ...[Read More]
Kops Fantasy Football Tips Game-week 1 Welcome back! We’ve had a great summer of sport. The English U21s did what English teams do best, fail. Andy Murray remains Scottish following his semi-final defeat at Wimbledon. We had a Monday finish to The Open. Chris Froome won the Tour de France and in doing so had urine thrown over him. The Poms & the Convicts are in the midst of an epic battle for The Ashes. And a Norwegian living in the US has a chance of overall glory in Fantasy T20 (that’s cricket for the uneducated amongst you!). As much fun as that’s all been we all eagerly await the return of FPL and the wait is nearly over. At this stage of the season it is easy get caught up in the hype surrounding certain players & potential formations, but just remember this, trust your instin...[Read More]
Analytical Guide to Fixtures GW1 – GW8 This article looks to review the importance of a team’s fixtures and how to use rotation in a slightly different way to the existing tools and opinions available on FPL selection. The highlights (for the opening 8 GW’s) are: Attacking – Arsenal and Man United look the strongest of the big teams – Southampton and Swansea are good for mid priced teams – Leicester and Bournemouth are likely to be the best budget teams (and both rotate well with Crystal Palace) Defending – Chelsea are the stand out team defensively – Southampton and West ham are good for mid priced teams – Leicester and West Brom are the best budget options (and rotate well with West ham and Southampton) In general – There are some teams tha...[Read More]
Grab, Avoid or Bore off! Our first installment of Grab, Avoid or Bore off for the 2015-16 season is ready. For those new to the site, it is a simple question and answer segment that covers everything from the serious to the absurd. So why do we call it that? Tradition, is the easy answer as we basically have veered so far off course that we look like a Tiger Woods tee shot. So glad to get the fellas back together as they offer their opinions on everything from going without Haz & Kun to Giroud’s choice of underwear. So without further ado, let’s ask our “experts” some questions on the minds of many and some on the minds of none.
The Promoted Teams – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16 While the typical FPL player may be enjoying a summer hiatus from the exhausting and stressful demands of making one transfer a week for a fictitious team, the more discerning amongst us remain in a perpetual state of unfulfilled anticipation. Not knowing whether Alexis Sanchez will be listed henceforth as a forward; how much Harry Kane’s price will rise; or if the bonus points system will be tweaked to take into account hair grooming, will all be sources of great consternation leading up to the new season. Thus we must satiate our delectation for speculation with occasional droplets of FPL dopamine such as today’s look at the three promoted clubs. Here’s a squad comprising of AFC Bournemouth, Watford and Norwich C...[Read More]
Kops Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 34 Christian Benteke and Charlie Austin have a lot to answer for! Their exploits in DGW31 have forced many to chase the imminent DGW and you just know that that spells disaster. There will be more hits taken by fantasy managers around the world this week than were taken on the streets of Baltimore during the 5 series of The Wire. Should you have planned well or you are lucky enough to have activated your wildcard this week you will at the very least get a head start on the smack heads. A quick look at the ‘transfers in’ section on the FPL website has reinforced our belief that the vast majority of transfers are unsurprisingly based around the DGW and therefore this week we will be predominantly focusing on those players who feature in the double. However...[Read More]
Kops Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 33 The 2014/15 FPL season has been particularly easy to navigate in that there’s been relatively few blank gameweeks or double gameweeks. Things now become a little more complicated as six teams sit out GW33 while four then have a double in GW34 and this has made planning a little more difficult, unless of course you have a wildcard in hand! This really is the last chance saloon for many fantasy managers just as it is for many managers in the real world such as Manuel Pellegrini, who foolishly believes his job is safe. Manuel, have you not heard that Jurgen Klopp is available? Anyway I digress! If you have planned accordingly for GW33 & 34 you should in theory do well as many managers will first of all be forced to take a hit to field 11 this week a...[Read More]
Kops Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 38 11, 24, 49, 8, 33, 2 & 9. What are they I hear you ask? Well they’re my numbers for the EuroMillions draw on Friday night. You’re probably wondering why I’ve shared my numbers with you? Well I’ve got about as much chance of predicting what will happen in GW38 as I do of winning the EuroMillions so I’ve decided to share my numbers with you all! If I can give you one piece of advice ahead of the final day of the season it is that you should try and ship out any players who definitely will not play on the final day of the season. A number of managers will most certainly take the opportunity to play one or two of their fringe players, so it is extremely important that you have a strong bench as it will be needed. As it’s the final gameweek of the seas...[Read More]
Kops Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 37 The average score in GW36 was 42, Sergio Aguero beat that on his own with a remarkable 46 points. Fantasy managers fell into three groups last weekend, those who captained Aguero, those who owned Aguero but for some reason didn’t captain him and finally those poor misfortunates who didn’t even own the Argentine. Imagine not owning the Argentine and voting Labour? That would’ve made for a fun weekend!! And so we move onto our penultimate gameweek of the season and unfortunately it’s another of those annoying doubles. Three Gunners would appear to be a must while how many Sunderland players you go with is likely to depend on your levels of desperation. When deciding who to purchase this week it’s worth bearing in mind that GW38 is likely to be a lottery...[Read More]
Kops Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 35 DGW34 was proving to be a rather disappointing affair with Liverpool delivering very little, but a few goals from Chelsea and Leicester, a Vardy assist, an Ivan assist, a Terry goal and a Fabregas assist may have just rescued it for a few! Many will now say that loading up on Liverpool players was a bad idea, it wasn’t, it was the right thing to do. It’s just unfortunate that Liverpool didn’t live up to expectations, again. But enough about DGW34, that’s behind us and there’s no use crying over spilt milk. With only four gameweeks remaining one would hope that things would at long last become somewhat easier, but unfortunately that’s unlikely to be the case. One look at the league would suggest that there’s at least 10 teams with nothing left to play ...[Read More]
Kops Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 32 So DGW31 turned out to be somewhat more interesting than most of us expected. On paper it looked like a DGW to be avoided, unfortunately those who chose to ignore Charlie Austin and Christian Benteke suffered the consequences. The moral of the story is that DGW’s are there to be chased!! This is obviously a slight exaggeration but it does go to show you how that in fantasy football you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t. With just seven GW’s remaining the opportunities to make up ground are diminishing rapidly and this will lead to some of us having to gamble Vegas style. Therefore, with this in mind we have decided to focus solely on differentials this week. Obviously those of you who are having a successful season might look at some of thes...[Read More]
Kops Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 31 The cricket is over, so it’s time to once more concentrate on FPL! With only eight gameweeks remaining we really are nearing squeaky bum time. Some will enjoy this time as they sit atop of their leagues laughing at those below them, while for the rest of us we will spend this time trying everything to catch those above us. The good news is that there will be no further breaks due to the FA Cup or international fixtures. With double gameweeks scheduled for GW’s 31, 34 and 37 as well as a blank for a number of teams in GW33, it is going to be of the upmost importance to plan every move you make over the coming weeks. This however will hopefully spice things up a little and force managers to think a little outside the box in the search for the ultimate d...[Read More]
