Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! A bore off special edition you say? Yeah, we think we can manage that. So we went ahead and rounded up our 3 pistoleros and asked them to answer 5 important questions that are bugging many a manager. With so much time to tinker, we thought it important to address some of the concerns we have heard in our chat community. No! Not the monkey pictures, as we have grown quite fond of them to be honest. But DGW concerns for the upcoming week and a future one. Also addressing what to do with 2 South American stars and last but not least, maybe a tip or two on how to crawl back into your mini league race. So although we have named it the usual grab, avoid or bore off, it is really just a façade for a lot of waffling with a hint of relevant information.
GKW’s Views on Who’s Gonna Win the FPL These international breaks are getting on my nerves. Is it just me, or are they becoming more frequent – a cunning ploy to acclimatise us slowly but surely to the winter break demanded for the 2022 World Cup, maybe? On the upside, um, where was I going with this one? Well, I suppose the break does at least give us plenty of time to take stock of the FPL standings and see what insights we can glean from them. The managers Here we go, then: an in-depth look at the FPL top 10 as of GW30. Let me introduce Simon, Stuart G, Jeff, Dave, Jack M, Setor, AbuBakar, Jack W, Cecilia and Stuart W. First up, a look at their demographics. Judging from their names nine of the ten are blokes, at a guess. Well yeah I know there’s that “girl...[Read More]
Kops Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 30 With GW29 being a horror show for many, we now have just nine GWs remaining until the season ends. Last week’s scores proved that template teams don’t always work out well, with the likes of Eden Hazard, Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Alexis Sanchez and Harry Kane all blanking. So this week, in the absence of a resident Top Tipster, we’ll take a look at some differential names who may just prove worthwhile of a gamble with so few matches left before we welcome the summer sun. Of course, we’re not suggesting you should sell your top stars, but merely making you aware of some alternatives if you feel the need to unshackle the chains and go for broke in the final few gameweeks.
Kops Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 29 So GW29 is upon and as will be said numerous times at Cheltenham this week, we’re now moving into the home straight. In the last two gameweeks we’ve had our first blank gameweek and first double gameweek of the season, and if truth be told they were both pretty drab affairs…let’s hope that it’s not a sign of things to come. With just 10 gameweeks remaining it’s time for some to consolidate their positions while for the rest of us we must explore all avenues as we try to close those points gaps which continue to grow. Whichever of these groups you fall into is likely to determine whether you play it safe for the remaining weeks or whether you decide to roll the dice! With May 24th getting nearer & nearer any mistake you make now is likely to cost ...[Read More]
Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! What happens when we have too many days between fixtures? That’s right we come out with another instalment of grab, avoid or bore off! As anyone who has read it before knows, we do try and offer some valuable insight, but with a twist. While trying to give you some sensible opinions on transfers and other matters we certainly have some fun with it. This will be no different as we look at what players you should be looking to buy, hold or sell and also offering an opinion on Pelle’s granny goalkeeping skills. Yeah, you read that right. Well no more waffling from me as you will certainly get enough from our 3 ‘pros’ who never seem to follow the instructions below. So let the rambling commence… [clear]Grab – You need this player on your s...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Tips – a DGW Special A double game week is a beautiful thing, like an oasis in the desert when you’ve been chugging along the past few GWs having a tough time. Planning ahead is, of course, vital, although with just QPR and Spurs involved in this DGW, the usual level of pre-analysis and scribbling down various transfer permutations to maximise the DGW coverage may not be as necessary. QPR of course are struggling just above the relegation zone and with their second highest scoring player injured and their captain suspended, there are very few realistic options to choose from. Well, just one major one really. And you know who he is!! Spurs meanwhile are a completely different kettle of fish with many different options available and it won’t surprise you to learn that ...[Read More]
Kops Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 27 There’s a blank gameweek for Chelsea, Spurs, QPR & Leicester this week! If this is first you’ve heard of this you must be living under a rock. Chances are the vast majority of fantasy managers will be seriously effected as the likes of Ivanovic, Fabregas, Hazard, Costa, Eriksen & Kane all have ownership rates in excess of 25%. The question is, should you decide to bench three of these can you rely on your remaining players to all start for their respective clubs? I suspect many of us will end up fielding nine or 10 players this weekend. Of course you might decide to take a hit in order to field 11, but we believe a strong case can be made for playing with nine or ten this weekend. Enough of that waffle, we’re not here to talk about who’s not...[Read More]
Kops Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 26 I say, I don’t like cricket, oh no, I love it! With the cricket World Cup having gotten off to such a superb start last weekend you’d almost be forgiven for getting about FPL altogether and just concentrating on fantasy cricket! But fear not we’re only a few days away from the return of FPL and it’s time to start fine tuning your teams as the first double gameweek of the season is only just around the corner, although more importantly our first blank gameweek of the season is next week so it’s time to strengthen your bench as the vast majority of fantasy managers will surely have three players from Chelsea, Spurs, QPR & Leicester to bench next week. What do you mean your bench isn’t important? So we’ve reluctantly pulled ourselves away from the c...[Read More]
FF247 Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 25 GW24 was supposed to be the one when Aguero finally marked his return with fireworks and at least a hat-trick. At least. Now we don’t know if this was a sign or just coincidence but at the time of writing 666 people had voted for Aguero in the Captains poll. Spooky, and slightly prophetic, as said fireworks were more of a damp sparkler as he grabbed a late assist to give his many many captainers a crumb of comfort. If you plumped for someone else this week either out of great judgement or more likely just that you couldn’t afford Aguero then you may have fared better with the likes of the ever popular Hazard and Kane grabbing three goals between them. GW25 is a midweek affair which kicks off on Tuesday night with four fixtures and the gre...[Read More]
Kops Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 24 What do you mean you haven’t activated your January wildcard? Get it activated man! Seriously though, time is running out and once the bell rings at 11:30 on Saturday morning the much discussed January wildcard will thankfully be lost for another year! Transfer ‘Deadline Day’ much like the entire transfer window turned out to be a damp squib and as a result we are left with largely the same pool of players to choose from. Outside of Cuadrado to Chelsea & Bony to City I don’t see any transfers having a significant impact on FPL and for different reasons neither are likely to be worth any consideration for a couple of weeks. Anyway, whether you happen to be on your January wildcard or you are simply trying to fix the mess you made with your wildcard...[Read More]
Kops Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 23 Thanks largely to the FA Cup the world of FPL seems to be dragging on and on in the month of January, although the cup did give us some great entertainment last weekend as Chelsea crashed out to the mighty Bradford. The recent Greek elections have had a knock on effect on FPL prices and as a result those who have played their wildcards have had little opportunity to raise some much needed extra cash. The lack of activity in the FPL transfer market has been largely mirrored in the Premier League and to date there hasn’t been a single transfer to get fantasy managers excited, although that might change over the coming days, but I wouldn’t hold your breath. And so it is that our pool of players to pick from has remained relatively unchanged and below we ...[Read More]
Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! You know what it means when we have a long time between fixtures… that’s right! A new edition of grab, avoid or bore off. Once again we ask our legends of the written word (FPL that is) to share their opinions on some of the questions that have been bugging many FPL managers over the last couple of days. As always we will put them on the spot on certain topics and allow for a bit of fun also. So sit back and relax as the Three Amigos provide the answers to every one of life’s questions. [clear]Grab – You need this player on your squad. Avoid – It’s a trap don’t get suckered in. Bore off – Could care less either way. Grab him, avoid him or dress him up if you like.
