Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 5 Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 5. We can but hope that this article doesn’t come as a surprise to you on a Friday evening and that you aren’t currently sat there thinking “either they’ve made a big mistake, or I’ve made an even bigger one!”. Well, we haven’t, and we are really sorry if you did! The game-week begins with yet another uninspiring televised clash, as Bournemouth host Brighton on Friday night. Not one that many people will be hurriedly cancelling Friday night plans for then. If you do feel so compelled though you can always rearrange those plans for about 12:30pm on Saturday to coincide with the next woeful TV offering – Crystal palace vs Southampton. Seriously, we ...[Read More]
FF247 Fantasy Football Team Gameweek 5 Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Team Gameweek 5. We compiled 60 points this week and that put us 16 points above the average. The GW rank was 500K, but it felt better than that as we jumped from 600k to 170k in the overall. With our captain Lukaku scoring, Kane grabbing a brace and Groß with a huge 18 point haul it was a good game-week for us all in all, well except for the Davies controversy. As some of you might know there was a late question posed to us from a member on the board asking why we were benching Davies instead of Ince. Some of us feeling that maybe that should be brought up again asked for a revote. It was an awkward affair as somehow Alonso was brought up again as the reason why we even had Ince and couldn’t afford a decent mid...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 5 Welcome to Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 5. Kop quite expertly used last week’s Tips article to promote the qualities of the most popular FPL options. Now, following a Tips article by Kop is a bit like being asked to enter the bullring just as the bull is fully charged up. Hence management approached me, preferring not to ask one of their better writers to put himself in the line of fire! I am not used to writing Tips, my usual job is of course writing up press conference news on a Friday. So bear with me, join me along what may be a fun ride and will hopefully prove of some use to someone. Somewhere. To complement Kop’s article, I have decided to focus on those players who have flown under the radar for whatever reason so far this season – it may be they ...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 5 2017/18 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 5. This is only my second Captain Picks article but in my last article 4 out of my 7 picks either scored, assisted or both; so hopefully I can continue this trend with my picks below. Last weekend we saw some new players settling into their teams and their new surroundings in the first gameweek after the International Break and the closing of the transfer window. The likes of Renato Sanches, Zappacosta and Krychowiak all featured for the first time in the Premier League. Hopefully with all the business now done and the new players settling into their teams it will allow us, as fantasy managers, to see the real picture and begin to get a feel of how the landscape lies. Case in point GroS and...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 5 Welcome to Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 5. First of all, thanks to Adam for writing the article in my stead last week, the break was much appreciated. Though the couch that was covered in fried chicken wasn’t mine – anybody who’s seen a picture of me knows that it’s highly unlikely that I would be so wasteful with fried chicken. Although, if I was taking too much DayQuil again… there’s no telling how I left that office when Adam took over. Actually, now that the lads at HQ have undoubtedly seen my score from this past round, I’m surprised that they’ve even let me come back at all. For those of you that don’t have ready access to my team, you should know that I wildcarded last week, and I ended up on a grand total of 26 points...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 4 Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 4. Thankfully the International break is over and what a way to kick it off in GW4. A Saturday lunch time affair brings with it the most interesting fixture of the week. City will play host to Liverpool and their new arrival Keita…wait, apparently he arrives next season, oh well, at least we get to see how Virgil van Dijk fits in. As for City, while Alexis did not arrive, Aguero is more than capable of taking up the pouting. That game is followed by five 3pm games. Big money Arsenal welcome in The Cherries, high scoring Brighton tangle with The Baggies, Everton will look to sober up after that drunken performance last time out when they meet up with September Kane. Leicester look to steal...[Read More]
FF247 Fantasy Football Team Gameweek 4 Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Team Gameweek 4. We scored 49 points in GW3, a miserly 6 above the average and we saw a relatively minor jump in the rankings as a result. All in all it was a bit of a miserable old GW though. 19 of our points came from just three players at the back and even two of our benched rearguard scored more than any of our midfielders or forwards, Firmino excepted. Our midfield was consistent, if nothing else, with three points each. Lukaku blanked but that was the least of our worries, given his ownership. Kane coming in as a 4 point captain was the real kick in the teeth. All in all it seemed fairly consistent with what most other managers experienced though so we aren’t panicking and playing our wildcard just yet. Ju...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 4 Welcome to Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 4. Since GW3 we’ve had to deal with Deadline Day and the first international break of the season. As much as we moan about international football it doesn’t come anywhere close to Deadline Day in the tedium stakes. I’ll refrain from a Guy type rant on the subject of Deadline Day, suffice to say it’s an awful waste of time. In terms of the overall transfer window it would appear to have been a success for United while all the other sides with title aspirations are likely to be somewhat disappointed. That’s enough about the transfer window we’re here to discuss FPL. Has the two week break proved to be a success for you? This week I’ve decided to take a look at FPL’s most popular players and whether or not they deserve...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 4 2017/18 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 4. By the time you read this I’ll be home in Newcastle, back to dreary weather, back to 9-5 and my ‘vacation’ a distant memory. Right now however, I’m writing this by the pool in Vegas debating what type of cocktail to have next – life isn’t so bad! As the drama of deadline day unfolded (for some of us) I followed from afar debating how potential transfers would impact on the players I would propose in my very first captains article, very little it turns out. Had Alexis Sanchez completed his move to Manchester City as predicted, it was likely his 2.4% ownership would have risen rapidly and his inclusion in this article would be a formality. Whichever side of th...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 4 Welcome to Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 4. Ahem, hi, let me just adjust this seat a bit. Not sat in it for a good while now. It’s much lower than I remember it being… Hang on, he’s replaced it with a bloody couch! Typical laid back lazy Americans. There’s fried chicken remnants down the sides, Coke bottles and empty pizza boxes all over the shop too. I hate to think what he’s been feeding you all in terms of actual content if the state of this place is anything to go by! Yep, Guy is having a well deserved break so I’m back in the hot seat for a week, back in my old job and what a pleasure it is to be here again. Now if only I could remember what it is I’m actually supposed to be doing then ...[Read More]
FPL Deadline Day Transfers Welcome to Fantasy Football Deadline Day Transfers. Deadline Day was a strange day to say the least. There we were fully expecting a domino effect of expensive deals with Alexis Sanchez, Philippe Coutinho, Riyad Mahrez and Virgil van Dijk all expecting to leave clubs, while the Diego Costa stand-off may be sorted and there was speculation aplenty with many other names expecting to be cashing a fat signing-on fee. In the end the day fell flat, none of the aforementioned players moved and will feel disappointed at the outcome, though it should be emphasised that the Spanish transfer window remains open until midnight tonight (Friday), so it’s possible that Coutinho, Mahrez and Costa could still technically move. So, enough of the nearly men, what of the players who...[Read More]
Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2017-18 The International break gives us all the first opportunity to sit back and assess how we have fared so far. For some it’s a time of quiet reflection, for others it’s time for a Wildcard! Either way it’s a nervous time for fantasy managers as they wait and see if their stars return in one piece from their journeys far and wide. This particular break also sees the transfer window close so much can change, players will be added, some will be waved goodbye. We’ve decided to take a bit of a break ourselves for a few days but before we do we have asked a few of our regular writers to reflect on their own seasons so far, their fantasy plans and also their take on the season in general. Between them Cookie, Mit...[Read More]
