Champions League Fantasy Football 2014/15
This seasons Champions League kicks off for proper on Tuesday evening and as ever there is a fantasy game to accompany it! Many of our members played last season and enjoyed this immensely. We left it mainly on the discussion boards but this season we have decided to embrace it given how popular it was and as such we have our very own FF247 league set-up and awaiting members! If you haven’t played it previously you will be pleased to know that it is very much the same format as our beloved FPL with an element of UFPL ‘stick or twist’ thrown in for good measure. We have given below a basic guide to the game itself, a few of the rules, the link to the site itself anf the FF247 league code. If you have any more questions please post them in the comments as there are many members who have played this game alraedy and will be only too willing to help you along and of course ‘rate my teams’ will be welcome and answered as per usual…
The Basics
A squad of 15 is required as per FPL. The scoring is pretty much identical with the exception that there are no bonus points added after the game and also there is this – ‘Every five recovered balls (clearances completed and/or successful tackles made) = 1 point’. So not much difference at all. The big difference is the UFPL ‘twist’ we referred to in the intro. Basically each week is split into two ‘match days’ – Tuesday and Wednesday. The idea is that you should put all of your Tuesday players on the pitch and see how they perform. Then prior to the Wednesday deadline, which is kick off time of the first game, you can replace any Tuesday players with Wednesday ones if you feel they will do better and even pick a new captain if your Tuesday one bombed. Dead simple! The rules copied from the site itself explain it in more detail as per below –
Transfers
Transfers are unlimited up until kick off on the first day. It’s then one per week as normal until the knock out stages and then you get a wildcard and a few opportunities after that to make six transfers at each subsequent stage.
Our BIG advice on transfers and deadlines in general would be to check out the start time of the GW each week. It’s easy to assume that it is 19.45pm British time each week as 95% of the games start then but those pesky Russian’s get in the way occasionally and a lot of their kick off’s are at 17.45pm so please take our advice and check beforehand!

Morning chavvos. Cheers for the articles recently guys. Had a little break during the euros but Ive 5 mins spare in my rock and/or roll life. How did everyone do this weekend?
Everyone was looking for Captain Hindsight y’day morning Chops, but he never showed up.
No, its not the end of the gameweek. But I have heard rumblings of CostaBundle?
Just joined.
May I ask a very stupid question? I’m playing fpl for the first time, and it was bloody hard this past week hoping Rooney would score just so I could get points lol how do you guys separate team support and fpl?
Morning mzlainy and welcome to the site. Team support kind of has to go out the window when playing FPL. In order to be successful we need to base our picks on individual/team form and also pay close attention to the fixture lists of all clubs. I’m a United fan and last season i had Mata for just a few weeks and had no United players at all throughout the rest of the season, but had plenty of Liverpool players. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do, so to speak.
mzlainy,
Welcome along mate. On the contrary, I think that is an excellent question.
Some don’t. Some won’t touch Liverpool because they are United and vice versa. Some Arsenal folk won’t have Spurs coverage.
I’m Scottish so not involved in local rivalry to the same extent but like Liverpool as my second team however if I feel the need to have three Man United players, I’ll have them.
It’s about how well you want to do in the game. And also, how serious you take it.
Be interested to hear the thoughts of others.
Mziainy, welcome mate. Its very very easy; support a team in the championship!! Only kidding i think NIN and GP sum it up well. The key thing is how serious you want to take it. I am very serious about it (but not very good!) and so even if (or should I say when!!) Sheffield Wednesday reached the FPL I probably would have one token cheapie but none else as i’d want a sting team. Likewise, for example, If I was a Man U fan id happily have Augero if he’s the right player at that time. Enjoy FPL thats the main thing.
Just ignore NZ. He is backwards in EVERYTHING he does. Where he lives….the team he supports…..Plus he’s a Parkin addict, which is why they sent him to NZ for rehab
Chop suey, how’s things on the league 1 side of the city? Saw you scrapped a win against the mighty Rochdale? You must be thrilled!
Over the moon pal. Hows your take over doing?
We decided he was a bit of a dick and so pulled out, not so much of a dick that we can’t ditch his bloody awful shirt sponsor though!
Cookies Missus has the same motto. “No likey dicky,PULL OUT” :big-lol:
Welcome to the madhouse Lainy, firstly whatever bad things Cookie says about me, ignore it. Now to your question, i’m Liverpool through and through, but in fantasy parlance, as NiN says, it has to go out of the window, for example, i’m on a wildcard and have brought Baines in, but in 2weeks we play Everton, so hoping for a great victory, mmmmmmm ! But if Everton get any pennos or freekicks, he will be on them, gaining me points, although it could cost us a result, Its swings + roundabouts unfortunately.
Thanks you guys, def feel welcome.
Looks like I’m just gonna be neutral when I choose lol made the mistake early on of getting in players I liked and avoiding the ones I didn’t.
I only joined to prove to a friend that as a chick I know more about football than he does but after just a few weeks I love it.
Mzlainey, with your placing you should be loving it, well done! Amazing work for your first season. 😉
beginners luck dude
Ok. So I have a problem. I want to do FPL Champleague and was gonna have joint management with Floydeath last year. Only, I couldnt bloody sign up. I tried and tried and gave up. So who fancies joining fpl brains with me this year?

you may be, in your mum’s eyes, the best looking, but for Raz, size matters, so best go for that op mate before you get down on your knees to him
