Champions League Fantasy Football 2014/15

Champions League Fantasy Football 2014/15
This seasons Champions League kicks off for proper on Tuesday evening and as ever there is a fantasy game to accompany it! Many of our members played last season and enjoyed this immensely. We left it mainly on the discussion boards but this season we have decided to embrace it given how popular it was and as such we have our very own FF247 league set-up and awaiting members! If you haven’t played it previously you will be pleased to know that it is very much the same format as our beloved FPL with an element of UFPL ‘stick or twist’ thrown in for good measure. We have given below a basic guide to the game itself, a few of the rules, the link to the site itself anf the FF247 league code. If you have any more questions please post them in the comments as there are many members who have played this game alraedy and will be only too willing to help you along and of course ‘rate my teams’ will be welcome and answered as per usual…

The Basics
A squad of 15 is required as per FPL. The scoring is pretty much identical with the exception that there are no bonus points added after the game and also there is this – ‘Every five recovered balls (clearances completed and/or successful tackles made) = 1 point’. So not much difference at all. The big difference is the UFPL ‘twist’ we referred to in the intro. Basically each week is split into two ‘match days’ – Tuesday and Wednesday. The idea is that you should put all of your Tuesday players on the pitch and see how they perform. Then prior to the Wednesday deadline, which is kick off time of the first game, you can replace any Tuesday players with Wednesday ones if you feel they will do better and even pick a new captain if your Tuesday one bombed. Dead simple! The rules copied from the site itself explain it in more detail as per below –

FF247 Champions League Tips

Transfers
Transfers are unlimited up until kick off on the first day. It’s then one per week as normal until the knock out stages and then you get a wildcard and a few opportunities after that to make six transfers at each subsequent stage.

Our BIG advice on transfers and deadlines in general would be to check out the start time of the GW each week. It’s easy to assume that it is 19.45pm British time each week as 95% of the games start then but those pesky Russian’s get in the way occasionally and a lot of their kick off’s are at 17.45pm so please take our advice and check beforehand!

So, all talk is UTD. I can see Mata making way and Rooney slotting back into midfield. Most most most impressed with Herrerrihairier. Looks class

I’ve just been having a tinker with my UCL team and noticed that on my team page the fixtures shown for each player aren’t this weeks fixtures, but round 2’s fixtures. Weird. Just thought i’d mention it here in case anyone gets mixed up and benches someone who’s meant to be first 11. Work from the fixture list under the team, not what is shown for each player smile

    Hey guys.

What to do with Balo & Dzeko..?
Any reason why Dzeko didn’t start.?
Can Belo fill Sturridge’s boots over next few weeks..?
These are my only real concerns….any tips.

    Hi Guys

Some really good info / tips on this site but just unsure what to do with my team at this moment in time. Feel like I need to jump on the Di Maria bandwagon and then there is obviously Falcao and Aguero.

Still have wildcard and the one transfer this week
    My team is

    Krul / Foster
Terry / Pieters / Van Aanholt / Hutton / Caulker
    Ramsey / Siggy / Fabregas / Sterling / Henderson
    Costa / Rooney / Jelavic

I would appreciate and feedback / tips

    Cheers

jp84 – Hmm, this is difficult as there’s a few moves i would make if this were my squad. I think Jelavic and Terry may need to be addressed first. Have you any money in the bank, to improve Jelly? If not then i’d maybe do a Terry swap first. There are some good cheap options like Clyne, who is doing really well. Duff, 4m, bargain. I also think Schlupp or Rose would be decent replacements.

      • NIN says:

Or, a simple Jelly > Naismith would do the trick too. Nice and handy.

        • jp84 says:

Yeah Terry was the one I was looking at in replacing first, unfortunately I have only 0.1 in the bank. I’ve been close to hitting the wildcard button but so far resisted but I’m just not happy with my team so maybe this could be an option?

        • NIN says:

It’s definitely an option, i’m just not sure it’s necessary as your midfield is really good so just a few changes between the defence and forward line will see you right, i think.

Hmmm, the CL site is down so I can’t register myself. Hmmm. Maybe I should just stick with FPL, on the other hand… this would make the CL more interesting. 😛

Some things never change eh? It’s always temperamental before the first round of fixtures. Try again later and it’ll be fine. The site doesn’t handle traffic too well.

      • Raziel says:

Cool, I was sort of breaking my head of I was going to join. Haven’t joined Ultimate FPL I’m also not in H2H leagues because they give me headaches. Sort of worked in the sense I don’t look at direct opponents. And now I’m even ranked within the top 3k overall. Number 10 of my country, which is really f-ing cool and number 1 in my private league (most important out of 3, though if I can win the league from my country, hahaha I would automatically win my private league, ZOMG if I could win the overall league, I would automatically win my private league. I NEED TO THINK BIGGER. Just kidding :P).

Really happy. Extra happy because taking a hit really helped me out this weekend. I was gonna do 1 swap, Ramsey to Sterling and keep Mata. However, I felt Di Maria was going to be special so I replaced Mata for Di Maria, and BAM he’s f-ing amazing. laugh

        Ps… sorry I talk a lot >.<

Don’t get me started on the CL website!!!!!!!!!!

      • inittowinit says:

Which is a very unfortunate trait when you are a website. A busy one.

      • NIN says:

Kop/init – I cant believe it’s the same crap this year again. Surely they know roughly how many people will play, is it that hard to sort? I have no idea how this stuff works but surely it’s not that difficult to ensure the same mistakes aren’t made again, and again, and so on and so forth smile
