Champions League Fantasy Football 2014/15

Champions League Fantasy Football 2014/15
This seasons Champions League kicks off for proper on Tuesday evening and as ever there is a fantasy game to accompany it! Many of our members played last season and enjoyed this immensely. We left it mainly on the discussion boards but this season we have decided to embrace it given how popular it was and as such we have our very own FF247 league set-up and awaiting members! If you haven’t played it previously you will be pleased to know that it is very much the same format as our beloved FPL with an element of UFPL ‘stick or twist’ thrown in for good measure. We have given below a basic guide to the game itself, a few of the rules, the link to the site itself anf the FF247 league code. If you have any more questions please post them in the comments as there are many members who have played this game alraedy and will be only too willing to help you along and of course ‘rate my teams’ will be welcome and answered as per usual…

The Basics
A squad of 15 is required as per FPL. The scoring is pretty much identical with the exception that there are no bonus points added after the game and also there is this – ‘Every five recovered balls (clearances completed and/or successful tackles made) = 1 point’. So not much difference at all. The big difference is the UFPL ‘twist’ we referred to in the intro. Basically each week is split into two ‘match days’ – Tuesday and Wednesday. The idea is that you should put all of your Tuesday players on the pitch and see how they perform. Then prior to the Wednesday deadline, which is kick off time of the first game, you can replace any Tuesday players with Wednesday ones if you feel they will do better and even pick a new captain if your Tuesday one bombed. Dead simple! The rules copied from the site itself explain it in more detail as per below –

FF247 Champions League Tips

Transfers
Transfers are unlimited up until kick off on the first day. It’s then one per week as normal until the knock out stages and then you get a wildcard and a few opportunities after that to make six transfers at each subsequent stage.

Our BIG advice on transfers and deadlines in general would be to check out the start time of the GW each week. It’s easy to assume that it is 19.45pm British time each week as 95% of the games start then but those pesky Russian’s get in the way occasionally and a lot of their kick off’s are at 17.45pm so please take our advice and check beforehand!

Hi everyone, I’ve resisted WC (somehow) but am thinking the following may just be worth it this week. I reckon the 3 striker combo will somehow make their way into most people’s teams and I want to get in their early and before more price rises. Would really appreciate feedback. Leaves 0.0 in the bank. Thanks

    Forster Elliot
    Baines Wilson Taylor Chambers Duff
Ramsey (walcott when fit) Fabregas Siggurdson King Cork
    Falcao Aguero Costa

      NIN says:

Falcao hasn’t started a game since January! He’s far from essential. In fairness, Aguero aint much better, fitness wise 😉 At the moment i’d bring in Aguero ahead of Falcao for sure. He’s getting starts and he’s scoring goals.

      NIN says:

What positions are you looking for budget players in, midfield or defence? Personally, i think 8.5m for a striker is the bottom line (for the most part). Beasts up top 😉

      • am4r77 says:

More in defence I’m trying to balance it out hard to find players though

        • NIN says:

          Toprak – Leverkusen – 4.5m
          Durm – Dortmund – 4m
          Moreno – Liverpool – 4m

          Three great options there mate.

        • NIN says:

Stupid price for Moreno really, but we’ll take it 😉

        • am4r77 says:

Cheers mate appreciate that and whats this on champions league fantasy, where you can field one team for tuesday and then you can change your starting line up for the Wednesday matches after and change your captain, is this correct?

        • NIN says:

am4r77- Yes that is correct. When setting your lineup make 100% sure that your bench only has players from the Wednesday on it, meaning all your Tuesday (and some Wednesday players too) are in your first 11. Whoever doesn’t perform on the Tuesday can be removed and a fresh player brought in. (c) can be changed too, yes.

A good tip for you mate, pick two GK’s who play on opposite days to maximize the potential for that position. Kind of obvious i know, but you’d be surprised how many managers overlook it 😉

        • am4r77 says:

Sorry for the late reply, cheers for advice NIN and I can imagine how many people overlook the goalie situation, cheers for the heads up mate
