Champions League Fantasy Football 2014/15

Champions League Fantasy Football 2014/15
This seasons Champions League kicks off for proper on Tuesday evening and as ever there is a fantasy game to accompany it! Many of our members played last season and enjoyed this immensely. We left it mainly on the discussion boards but this season we have decided to embrace it given how popular it was and as such we have our very own FF247 league set-up and awaiting members! If you haven’t played it previously you will be pleased to know that it is very much the same format as our beloved FPL with an element of UFPL ‘stick or twist’ thrown in for good measure. We have given below a basic guide to the game itself, a few of the rules, the link to the site itself anf the FF247 league code. If you have any more questions please post them in the comments as there are many members who have played this game alraedy and will be only too willing to help you along and of course ‘rate my teams’ will be welcome and answered as per usual…

The Basics
A squad of 15 is required as per FPL. The scoring is pretty much identical with the exception that there are no bonus points added after the game and also there is this – ‘Every five recovered balls (clearances completed and/or successful tackles made) = 1 point’. So not much difference at all. The big difference is the UFPL ‘twist’ we referred to in the intro. Basically each week is split into two ‘match days’ – Tuesday and Wednesday. The idea is that you should put all of your Tuesday players on the pitch and see how they perform. Then prior to the Wednesday deadline, which is kick off time of the first game, you can replace any Tuesday players with Wednesday ones if you feel they will do better and even pick a new captain if your Tuesday one bombed. Dead simple! The rules copied from the site itself explain it in more detail as per below –

FF247 Champions League Tips

Transfers
Transfers are unlimited up until kick off on the first day. It’s then one per week as normal until the knock out stages and then you get a wildcard and a few opportunities after that to make six transfers at each subsequent stage.

Our BIG advice on transfers and deadlines in general would be to check out the start time of the GW each week. It’s easy to assume that it is 19.45pm British time each week as 95% of the games start then but those pesky Russian’s get in the way occasionally and a lot of their kick off’s are at 17.45pm so please take our advice and check beforehand!

Hey gang, does anyone know who’s on penalties for United? I asked this last night but there weren’t many people about. I thought Rooney might have given them to RVP last season after he missed one, but I can’t remember for certain.

Told ya yesteday mate, nobody knows yet. RvP was penalty taker last season after Rooney missed 1. On that note, RvP used to take corners and free kicks and he hasn’t been doing that for a long while. Maybe they’re afraid he injures himself? Lol. Don’t know. I’d suggest to let the penalty kick duty go to ummmm Falcao.

RvP was really annoyed with his team mates yesterday, he set up several team mates. Only Di Maria tried to find him with several balls. Januzaj and Falcao were totally ”blind”. 😉

      • RedVT says:

Yes, I read what you wrote last night Raz, thank you. I was hoping someone else might know something about it. I think they weren’t passing the ball to RVP because he’s Dutch, just like last season with Rooney and Mata. 😛

        • Raziel says:

Hehehe. I don’t care mate, not a big RVP fan myself. 😉

Used to be in his Arsenal days and before the EC2012.

        • Raziel says:

Di Maria will be look for him though. Falcao only has eye for himself so he’ll do great from FPL point of view, so selfish, haha. Awesome, just what I need. I really think Falcao will get the penalty duty later on. RvP needs a first goal soon though, he was really annoyed yesterday.

        • RedVT says:

I’m actually kind of glad RVP hasn’t been scoring lots of goals, or else I’d be worried about how to afford him and fit him into my team too!! At least this way he’s not really a distraction for my FPL team, lol.

      NIN says:

That would be van Persie, to my knowledge. Unless Van Gaal has said he wants Rooney to take them then i don’t see it being changed between the players. Maybe 2 or 3 players will share them, whoever hasn’t scored takes one, or some such. I’d say van Persie is the main man thoguh.

      • RedVT says:

Thanks NIN. After Sunday I’m not in such a hurry to get rid of Rooney. I’ve got the funds to bring in Aguero for him but I’m not 100% sold on Aguero’s longevity so to speak… he let me down last season with injuries so I’m not sure if I want to get him or not. There are plenty of people scoring goals so I don’t see him as a ‘must have’ yet.

        • Raziel says:

Well, it’s good Falcao only got 30 minutes yeterday in the sense he won’t be going up this week. He will be a regular, like Di Maria and once he is he will be a must. For me it will be Rooney > Falcao. Keeping 1ft so I can make the transfer next week by either downgrading Terry, Chambers or DDG and upgrading Rooney to Falcao.

Not sold on City players. Last season Yaya was the only man that was consistent, this season we haven’t seen anything yet from him have we? Silva injury prone, great player but from FPL perspective not a must per se. Kun… well with CL games versus Bayern in midweek and Chelsea at home next GW having him could be a nightmare. Not having him is also a nightmare though. 😛

Hmmm. We also have to see how Pool cope with CL football and the EPL.

        • NIN says:

I’d much rather have Aguero, but maybe not this week due to the fixtures. If Aguero can come through this week unscathed then he’ll be a must from gwk 6 on-wards i think. Great run of fixtures and we all know what he’s capable of. Hat-trick-zilla laugh

Right, i’m off to make the dinner. Chat later folks.

        • Raziel says:

Hmmm, sighs. You might be right on Kun. Unsure I can have Costa, Kun and Falcao in though. I can only have 2. sad

Making dinner, you eat so early? It’s 15:46 in the UK right? It’s 16:46 where I live. On that note. Need to get some shit from the gross store. Ja ne.

        • NIN says:

Raz – Haha, yeah mate, too early to eat but my homemade curry takes quite a while to make, from scratch. Should be done in about half an hour or so. It’s a pain in the arse but it’s worth it 😉

That trio of destruction you mentioned… Aguero, Costa and Falcao… oh yes 😉 Not yet for me, but definitely some time in the future. What a strike force!

      • Raziel says:

        @ NiN
If Falcao is in the field I think he will get the job over RvP.

TotalFPL still sucks but at least I do notice if NTI’s are going up or down. Falcao (someone I want in the long run) is dropping after yesterdays match (he was at +120% so was close to rising) but now he’ll stay 11m (which is a good thing).

DDG was ”GOING” to drop (just like Terry did yesterday) but because of a second CS he’s slowly going up again. He is currently at -127.0% but 530 people took him in today…

Lol at the 10k people taking Sterling out. I dare to bet he’ll start all games from now on.

Best replacement for Debuchy? I read he could be out for 3 months. I have a maximum of £6.1 to spend. Other defenders are: Terry, Clyne, Duff, Rosenior.

Hey guys, what transfers could I make this week, is Rooney going to pick up as many points now, now that Falcao, di maria and Daley blind have all been added to the equation?

Quick question, do you think Blackett will play the next two GWs?
