Euro 2016 Fantasy Football Live Match Chat – The Knockout Phase

Euro 2016 Fantasy FootballJust as the UK votes on a possible Brexit, the group stages at Euro 2016 have been completed with some unfortunates already on their way home, while all the Home Nations secured to Remain for a while longer as England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland all qualified for the round of 16. You will notice a few changes to the fantasy game, so please allow us to run you through them so you are fully up-to-speed.
Price changes – some players price has increased, but only by a minimal amount it would appear. For example Dimitri Payet’s price has risen from 8.0mln to 8.1mln!! So, nothing to get too worried about.
As a result, your budget has increased by 5mln to 105mln, which not only reflects the price changes but also the fact that most of the smaller teams and cheaper players are no longer available due to them being knocked out, hence there are less budget options available.

Transfers – for this round you have an unlimited amount of transfers. For the quarter-finals you will have 4 free transfers, for the semi-finals you will have 6 free transfers and for the final you will have 6 free transfers.

Team personnel – you can now select four players from a single team for the round of 16, followed by five players for the quarter-finals, six for the semi-finals and eight for the final.

Tbh I expected Iceland to show England doors as well and was waiting to see trolls after defeat laugh Every tournament the team gets hyped up by media and fans and every time they bottle it up. Hodgson is incompetent, thank God he’s gone now from selection of team to selection of starting xi he did favouritism and this should servw him well (Wilshire for Drinkwater, Vardy on bench)

Morning all I can’t bring myself to talk about England so can you RM WC Team
Obviously I have one eye on the draws so believing France & Belgium will go though & the Germany v Italy & Poland v Portugal will be tight I’ve picked more of the later.
Will Mangala start should I downgrade Haz or KDB to get Bale .

I can only see 4 players there with an issue but the pics not great on my phone so I may be wrong. Just replace those 4 with however you fancy I suppose. No Ronaldo jumps out but that depends on your budget so maybe Nani or Milik or Lukaku or Griezmann there. Hazard for Perisic again if budget allows. Difficult to recommend defenders at this stage, maybe some French.

Morning fellas, can’t get screenshot to work so this is my team with 4 players knocked out. Thinking of Perisic to Joao Mario or Quaresma, defenders I think I’ll bring in an Italian but unsure on the other. Who is the best GK to bring in to couple Fab?

    Fabianski (Hart!!!)
Koscielny Hector Meunier (Alba and Walker!!!)
    Ozil Payet Witsel Ramsey (Perisic)
    Muller Milik Bale

When I sell the four lads I have 25.1 mil left

Matt – I would actually consider the Iceland keeper (!). If you don’t get away with Fab (which you won’t! :)), then he’s worth a shot I think. He’s cheap and could make at least a few saves. The others are either very likely to concede (Hennessey) or a bit too expensive to bet on given the opponents potential (Courtois, Neuer, Buffon). Lloris should offer the best CS potential on paper but we know how that went so far. Iceland has scored in every game, including twice against Austria and England…stat!
That being said, I have Neuer right now as back up to fab and will probably look to transfer fab out, for Patricio, but that doesn’t make sense in your team! Quaresma is a forward so can’t do a strait swap with Perisic. Mário will produce again at some point; you just need to have faith on him.
For the others, you probably want better belgium attacking cover and there’s of course the elephant in the room which is no Portugal!!! smile

      • MattX says:

Hey DMC, great win for ye lot the other night, personally thought it was heading to penalties the match probably deserved penos with both teams not getting a shot on target the the goal!! 😉 I was thinking of Lloris but the Iceland keeper would be a decent shout, he played well throughout the tournament.
Yeah I only seen after that Quaresma was a forward sadly I really wanted him for Portuguese cover, I think I will go with Mario I need some Port in there I had Rui Patricio and Guerriro until this round when I switched them and Sommer for Fab and stupidly Walker and Hart.
Would you rather have Port defensive cover or attacking cover right now I have one spot left in the backline and I’m trying to decide on either Glik or a Portugal defender

        • DMC says:

Cheer Matt – Yeah, we were lucky at the end. The Croats deserved at least the penalties. But, hey, they made one mistake in the whole game and we took it. That’s good for a change; normally it’s the other way around so the spirits are high for that exact reason not for the level of attacking footy, which isn’t great, for now.
Regarding the defense issue, I think Portugal are defending really well, bar the Hungary game in which we were going all out and were unlucky on the two deflected Dzusdszak free kicks, so, on that basis, and looking at what we did to Croatia (who are much better than Poland going forward) I would definitely prefer Guerreiro or Cedric to any Polish defender. No bias there.
In attack, I would be looking for budget mid Mario (6.0) and I don’t think you should look past Ronaldo. Nani and Quaresma may obviously score at any time, as they already did, but with this style of play the odds are against them and in favor of Cristiano one would think. Looking at your team I easily see Ronaldo ahead of Muller here. Italy is brutal in defense and he’s off the pace just now and apparently off the penalty duty which was one of the reasons to have him.

        • MattX says:

Hey DMC. Cheers for your thoughts, I don’t really want to take to many hits I’m already thinking of taking one to upgrade Witsel to Hazard. I think I’ll just bring in Guerriero for Walker and leave Muller he’s really pissing me off but itll be my luck that as soon as I sell him he’ll score a hattrick. Would you have Blaszczykowski or Mario in midfield?

        • DMC says:

Well, in fairness, Blaszczykowski has scored two goals already so I can’t argue Mário ahead of him without a big big bias, which I have of course! That being said, I’d be very surprised if Poland scored from a midfield position. Also he’s 7.5 vs Mario’s 6.0 so we’re talking about the same range in terms of cheeky punts. Mario would be such, whereas Blas would be one of your premium mids. Food for thought there.

    DMC says:

Well, well, England out at the hands of the penguins (what’s that odd celebration?). I for one didn’t expect that. I’m sorry for our England friends on here. Even if they don’t seem too surprised I know that deeply you are licking your wounds, so my heart is with you all. That also goes for the other teams being knocked out, such as EIRE and Northern Ireland, but those teams probably did more than they expected so no real wounds there.
Anyway, moving forward, we need to focus on the quarter finals and my take on this is that we will again have 4 “gamedays” so our priorities should be to have a strong capo for each day. These are my picks at the moment:
    1st day
Ronaldo, Lewandowski (hasn’t scored yet, so he is here based on his season stats)
    2nd day
    Bale, Hazard
    3rd day
    Ozil
    4th day
    Payet
    Any thoughts?

Hey DMC, cheers for your condolences haha laugh Glady I’m an Englishman raised in Ireland so I had two countries to support in this tournament one team made me proud, the other did exactly as expected (can you guess which is which?? 😉 )

I agree with you completely here but for Polish captaincy I’d throw Blasywhatsit in there as well he’s been lethal for the poles and could keep it up. Ozil has been a bit of a disappointment so maybe Kroos or Gomez if you had them would be better
