Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 16

Welcome to the Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 16 article. Well, that didn’t go as planned. We had 8 guys earn 5 points or less this gameweek, that is usually not a recipe for success. However not everything was gloom and despair as among all the crappiness there was some FPL heroes that came to at least save us from total disaster. With the likes of Alexis, Kane, Firmino, Pedro, Walker and Cech one would not expect to be turning to a Swan and Hornet defender for the points. Amat and Holebas did what they could for us and rescued our dignity. Well them and The Prince of Darkness Diego Costa. Because with a bunch of misses everywhere on the team we did manage to captain our highest scorer. So thank you Prince Diego and our two defenders who we will call Am-A-Ho. What you say? Are you? Didn’t know, but we won’t judge. Anyway our score of 47 put us in the 2 million average in terms of GW score and even though the FF247 Community team would be ecstatic if they consistently scored that, we need to do better. We dropped to 48k in the overall for a loss of 14K. But nothing better than a quick turnaround after a tough week, so with that let us get onto our transfers for this new gameweek.

Transfer(s) – Sold Ilkay Gündogan and bought Gylfi Sigurdsson

Transfer Reasoning…
No real mystery here in the sale or the buy really. Gundogan has been firing blanks ever since we brought him in on top of the rotation risk he has come under in the last couple of weeks. Siggy has scored 5 or more points in five of his last six and his next five fixtures look like an opportunity to keep on keeping on. As many know December offers a lot of opportunities for managers to use all their cuss words. Because as we all know some rotation will kick in. We think/hope Siggy will play straight through, if for no other reason that Swansea are in a battle for their Premier life and he is their best/only decent player. So in Siggy we trust…

THE NEW TEAM IN FULL FOR Gameweek 16

Our Captain is… Harry Kane
It was mostly unanimous on this one, but Prince Diego did get a vote. Both have great fixtures so either could have been justified. Think in the end the venue tilted the scales a bit in favour of Kane. Plus a quick glance at the season shows us that Hull has taken in the most goals including an incredible 9 goals allowed between the Bournemouth and Sunderland games. So if those two teams can embarrass you, we are hoping Spurs can take out their frustrations on them also. Perhaps another beat down is in the cards, similar to when they hammered Swansea after the CFC loss. Hull you are up and Kane is ready to bring in a double digit haul.

If anyone is interested in following the site teams progress then you can do so here and we wish you all the best of luck this week with your own teams.

    Thoughts on the transfer market.

    GK:
Transferred in: Courtois, DDG and Lloris being brought in at a good rate, makes sense if you glance through their fixtures. DDG has been close to several clean sheets. 2 in the last six and only gave up one goal in the other 4. Courtois doesn’t really need any explanation. Lloris is based on some great fixtures particularly the next two. Grant is the other one up there, his spot still seems safe and his price makes him acceptable regardless of fixtures.
Transferred out: Cech, makes sense, frustration with Arsenal not keeping clean sheets, Mustafi injured and fixtures are not ideal in the next two. However after City, fixtures are fantastic so maybe you should hold if you have him. They are not keeping CSs, but is not like they have been deplorable. Could have easily kept 2-3 CSs in the last six where they only gave up one goal in all the games. Stekelenburg being sold…about time.

    Defenders:
Transferred in: Azpi and Alonso, they play for Chelsea and they play crappy teams in the next couple of fixtures, almost seems like a must. Daniels, if you buy him just know you will have trouble keeping clean sheets. The Cherries only get one of about every four games, but you buy Daniels for his attacking prowess, so if you do get him, just stick through on the bad weeks and wait for the big haul. Fixtures are not ideal though in the next couple. Van Dijk, 3 CSs in the last 4, just know that the Saints are much better at home defensively, have only allowed 5 at St. Mary’s. Next two are away and then they get Spurs, so I probably avoid until GW19.

Transferred out: Stones, if you stuck with him this long you might as well at the very least wait out their match up with Watford. 😉 Lovren, three zeros in the last 6 and about 6 points on average in the other 3. I probably keep him for the next 3, unless I had a FT I was about to lose, assuming he is actually fit of course. Koscielny, see above on Cech same thing goes on him.

    Mids:
Transferred in: Zaha, his form says yes, but you probably missed the boat on this one. I probably wait until GW20 before I look at him. Siggy, Definitely would be grabbing him. Next five fixtures are appealing and he is the man at Swansea. Eriksen, fixtures are great and he seems to be playing better. Did well before the United game in terms of FPL points and was the biggest Spurs threat in the United game where Spurs blanked. Payet is way down the list, but I would be looking at him, goal or assist in the last 3 and that was against United, Arsenal and LFC. His fixtures are outstanding in the next few.
Transferred out: Firmino, easier to sell with Origi about. His positioning change certainly hurts his stock. 4 straight blanks and other mids producing makes it justifiable. Capoue, he should have never been anything other than a fifth mid. So unless you are changing formation to a 3-5-2 or looking for rotating mids, not sure why anyone would sell him. Gundogan, yeah sell the bastard.

    Forwards:
Transferred In: Llorente, great price and has been producing. Just know though that Bob Bradley seems to not fully believe in him just yet. The goals are convincing him, but if he struggles don’t expect Bradlley to just stick through no matter what. He will get subbed or benched. Origi, leads the line, scored in 3 straight with a reasonable price on a team that has to score plenty to win. Yeah, seems like a good investment. Kane and Costa are third and fourth in the Transfers in page. Yeah both should be on your team if possible with their goal scoring prowess and their fixtures. Benteke fifth on the list, think falls in line with the Zaha thing. You may have missed the boat on that one already.
Transferred out: Austin, because of injury and Saints scoring record if he wasn’t injured, makes sense. Defoe, kinda of half and half on him. Don’t love his fixtures and his price while still great value for what he has produced this season, is reaching sort of expensive considering all the other players we want. Think you are better off with a cheaper forward through the next couple of games. Lukaku being moved out after a brace. Has 2 home games coming up but very tough competition. I probably would because he is probably the chip that has to be traded in to afford the likes of Kane and Costa.

I’ve been fortunate to make the most of Zaha’s run of form but I’d probably avoid him now, fixtures are pretty crappy (I’m still hopeful that Palace score goals) and he might be off to the AFCON with the Ivory Coast, might be a good time for managers to be a bit picky with selecting the African lads as FT’s in as I think they’ll be leaving after GW 20 but I’m not sure on that one, certainly wouldn’t bother taking a hit for them (I’m looking at you Mane).

Considering I have Foster in goals.. Should I double up with McAuley or rather play Smith who’s got Leicester or Amat who’s got West Brom?

    • 32.1

@Milky, I always take every player and pit them against their direct competition for a starting spot on my own team. I completely disregard who else is starting. If you feel McAuley has the best shot at a clean sheet from the 3, that is who I would play.

Anyone with any doubts that Kane has gone off the boil a bit?
(Especially referenced in Mito’s comment re: games with/without Dembele) He looked like he was asleep at the United game and actually gave away the ball that led to the Mhiki goal.

Costa and Sanchez are nothing if consistent so I’m flip flopping on giving Kane the arm band tonight.

    • 33.1

Yeah, he did look out of it. I was on Twitter duty that day for the site and made this comment.

However it has been noted by Kop that Kane did score twice without Dembele on the pitch vs West Ham.

Actually, those numbers are missing a very important metric.
      GOALS!

      Did my own one instead.

    • 33.4

You know what I have noticed about Ibra. His assists should probably be higher in FPL if you base it on the stats. Costa has 5 and Lukaku has 3. Those two average about the same amount of Key passes per game as Ibra. Those 3 are the top forwards in terms of setting up others for shots on goal. If Ibra had the average of them two and had 3 more assists to make it 4 on the season, he probably have an extra bonus point or two and wouldn’t be so under the radar to the FPL community. He is highly owned, but barely talked about in FPL chat sites. Think he has a much higher ceiling in terms of goals and assists and would not be shocked if he became close to essential at some point this season.

Funny you mention that, I added in assists earlier and this is what the stats say.

    Very interesting post!

Here’s my team, 0 transfers, 1.8 in bank. Suggestions welcome!

    • 34.1

@thufc, only thing that looks off is having Gundogan. It is just hard to depend on him at this point. I hate to take a hit for him though. If you could reach Siggy I would, but you look a touch short. Probably leave as is this GW and assess again after tomorrow’s games. You have people on the bench that will come in if he don’t play for some reason.

Hey guys, how’s it going? Nice looking site team, Siggy transfer is a good one, he’s Mr. Consistency. So I think I’m ready to go for tonight, just wondering if anyone has an opinion on who to start out of Pickford or Heaton. Leaning toward Pickford since Burnley are pants away from home and Pickford might get some good save points. Anything you’d change here? Maybe start Fletcher over Anichebe? And would you have Holebas or Amat for 1st defender on the bench? Thanks, and good luck! smile

    Pickford
    Koscielny Walker McAuley
    Sanchez Hazard Eriksen Siggy
    Kane (C) Costa (VC) Anichebe

    Heaton Fletcher Holebas Amat

    Plz support who to bench
Can is doubt should i change in defence or play someone instead of fletcher?

    • 36.1

@Mahelmy, all indications point to Can missing this GW, so you might not have a choice in the matter. If it makes you feel more comfortable you could just start him and have a bench player come in for him if he doesn’t play, unless of course you are worried he plays 20 minutes. Don’t think he will appear at all though.

I think I keep your team as is to be honest.
