Welcome to Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 36. Oh dear. Little did we think we’d regret selling Negredo so much, but the annoying striker, who single-handedly destroyed our DGW34, trolled us again after we sold him for Gabbiadini. You know the rest, Negredo blanked vs Bournemouth & Sunderland, but scored vs a Stones-less City defence and Gabbia….urgh, can’t even bring myself to type his name. We scored 43pts, below the average of 46 and our rank has fallen to 58,613 from 45,895. We left 24pts on the bench courtesy of Jaku and Siggy, while Nyom, Walker, Zaha and G contributed a point apiece. Thanks to Josh King who made the game-week show some sort of respectability. We’ve held our wildcard this long, but it’s time to release the beast now and be rid of these losers.

We have played our Wildcard!

Early disclaimer – our squad value pre WC was £102.5mln. This is obviously extremely low and meant we have had to compromise in certain areas and with certain players. The low value is predominantly due to the deliberate conservative nature of the management team, which minimises hits, makes transfers late on in the week (generally on a Friday) and is meant to show a measured approach to the game. Those who hit and/or transfer early in the week will, in most cases, have a higher squad value and will be able to afford more higher priced players.
We have made ten changes to our squad – keeping Jordan Pickford, Eden Hazard, Josh King, Harry Kane and Manolo Gabbiadini. King doesn’t have a DGW but with his current form and his fixture for DGW37 (home to Burnley) he will likely outscore many DGW options. We have brought in two other players who don’t double in GW37 – they are very much cheap enablers who, like King, have a kind fixture on paper, so they still have a chance of contributing well to our Bench Boost which we will activate for DGW37.

The 10 new additions to the squad are:

Willy Caballero (Man City)
Caballero is now nailed on as City’s no.1 keeper for the rest of the season due to Bravas’ injury. Conceding 2 goals at Boro was, admittedly, not a great start for Willy, but we hope for better days ahead as City try and nail down a top 4 slot with 3 successive home matches vs Palace, Leicester & West Brom before ending the season at Watford.

Gary Cahill (Chelsea)
The top scoring defender in the game – in terms of FPL points as well as goals scored (jointly with McAuley). Chelsea’s remaining four fixtures are as good as it gets – Boro, WBA, Watford & Sunderland – we expect nothing less than four clean sheets and one more goal to cap a fine season for the England defender.

César Azpilicueta (Chelsea)
We toyed with the cheap option David Luiz (cheaper by 0.1mln) but his injury at the time of writing meant we needed a certain starter. We couldn’t afford the more attacking option Marcos Alonso. So we ended up with Azpi, who Conte calls the best defender in the Premier League. Praise indeed from an Italian. Double Chelsea at the back makes sense with the fixtures they have and was the direction we wanted to go to maximise Chelsea coverage once we decided we couldn’t afford Costa.

Gabriel (Arsenal)
We wanted Arsenal coverage at the back given their two DGWs and we hope that Wenger perseveres with his new formation which was working quite well until the NLD! Kos, Mustafi, Monreal and Bellerin were out of reach, so we plumped for Gabriel and trust he keeps his starting spot!

Jack Stephens (Southampton)
Two DGWs and a cheap ‘enabler’, what’s not to like? We probably won’t play young Jack this week but he’ll be a valuable addition to our DGW37.

Mason Holgate (Everton)
No DGW but our cash position meant we needed an enabler here and there. Holgate is exactly that, he is cheap as chips at 4.1mln and has been a guaranteed starter at right back since Seamus Coleman’s injury. His fixture vs Watford at Goodison in DGW37 will hopefully add another clean sheet to our Bench Boost total.

Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal….for now)
We toyed briefly with leaving out Alexis, but the final decision was that it’s too big a gamble to leave out one of the league’s most explosive players with two successive DGWs. His form is poor with just one goal and no assists in his last six game-weeks. Despite this lack of form, his mood and Arsenal’s general demise we have stayed loyal to the Chilean and trust he comes good.

Heung-Min Son (Spurs)
Of course we’d prefer Alli or Eriksen, but we couldn’t afford them, sadly. However, Son’s form and value is superb – 12 goals and 7 assists already this season – we just hope he can continue his fine form over the final three game-weeks.

Tom Carroll (Swansea)
Yeah we know, we know. Look c’mon, we haven’t got much money alright? Carroll is 4.1mln and is our midfield enabler. His fixture in GW37 at Sunderland will hopefully provide another Carroll wordly, clean sheet and max bonus points!! Ok, we can dream.

Gabriel Jesus (Man City)
Jesus is just too good value to ignore – 8.7mln for a City striker and he may well be City’s main striker if Aguero is out for the rest of the campaign. He returned in the derby to have a goal disallowed. He started at Boro and scored. He has scored in both other matches he has started for City. Chuck in a DGW, three home fixtures and the likes of KdB, Sane, Sterling and Silva teeing him up and in he comes.

The Team in full this week…

Our captain is: Alexis Sanchez
We (briefly) contemplated not even owning him. He’s moody, he’s out of form, he wants to leave and his team is crap. But throw him a double game-week and we’re all over him like a nasty rash. And for good measure, he leads our team. Oh lord, this could go horribly wrong. Negredo-wrong? True, all things are relative. Time to step up Alexis – for a week or two, forget your strop and remind us of your explosive brilliance. Then you can leave and join Chelsea. Talking of Chelsea, Eden Hazard is our vice-captain, just in case Alexis throws his toys out of the pram and goes AWOL.

WC available (I’ve used it for this week and BB in GW37) and 0,8 ITB. Any advice?

Magnum, I’m not sure about Yaya & Giroud. Both are great differentials but neither have done anything of late.

I was considering Costa instead of Giroud, but money doesn’t allow me that + Costa can get suspension (yellow cards). My other option is Gabbiadinni, others are not good enough in my opinion.
Yaya is my choice because he can take freekicks and will take penalties, if Aguero is out for the rest of this season. Others are Son, Sane, Sterling, Pedro, Fabregas (budget allows me that, but if i buy Gabbiadinni, i could get Alli).
As for the GK, i think Boruc could pick 2 CS. All others are more expenssive and i would have to sell Giroud and buy Gabbi. In that case, I could get Cech and Courtois and still have money ITB.
      Pls HELP laugh
      P. S. Sorry for my english…

    Mitro! Bat sign up smile

Check your email please pal. He’s announced at footy tonight that he’s made big moves which will ‘see him zoom past me’ and that his ‘front line is now amazing’. He’s taken a hit basically. His face did drop when I said I’d made big moves too – ‘I’ve played my WC’ laugh

If you could check it’d be much appreciated. Pretty sure looking at the value change and from his comments that he’s done Kun and Zaha to Jesus and Hazard but let’s see. It may alter my thinking on no Hazard but I’m not sure yet.

I feel completely lost regarding my team. Only players I know I will probably keep are Cech/Pick/Stephenson/Sanchez/Hazard/Jesus/Kane. :p Rest can be changed. 😉

Couple of final alterations here. Makes sense to do these?

Pic 1 is is team as I had it.

Pic 2 is team with the latest changes.

May be that pic 1 is 2 or vice versa though from experience of posting pics from my PC smile

Either way it’s obvious as Cahill and Dier left one and Davies and Pedro joined the new one.

2nd looks better! Maybe drop capoue to romeu to get azpi for luiz if he doesn’t make the weekend

I’m struggling to see where much improvement could be made to that new team. I would be very happy with it. Good job.

      • Milburn says:

Looks solid Init. Looking at 2nd place’s team I suppose it makes sense to get Davies in just in case Walker does get a start in one of the fixtures. At least that way you’ve blocked off another of his players.

Decent teams Init. Just don’t get the Holebas pick. Hege. And half injured Luiz?
