FPL FF247 Site TeamWelcome to Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 38. We had it off big time. We ******* had it off. We planned (ish), we hoped (a lot), we got lucky (extremely). But we’ll take it – it’s been a long season, there have been ups and downs, but it sure feels good to report a DGW score of 193. We played our Bench Boost of course, but given that Gabbiadini and Holgate scored just a single point between them, it makes the contributions from elsewhere even more special. Of course many of you will have returned similarly impressive scores, so we won’t go on too much. However it would be wrong not to recognise another Alexis DGW masterclass, 20pts from Azpi, 19pts from Jesus and of course Thursday’s evening’s finale from Spurs which saw our Spurs pair of Kane and Son return 50pts. We are now sat in 13,608th place, a season’s best and we’d love one more week of green arrows to record a top 10k finish. Here are the details of our final transfer and our GW38 Captain…

The FF247 Team for GW38…

Our Transfer – Manolo Gabbiadini OUT, Sam Vokes IN
Hardly the glamour transfer we imagined we would end the season on but our options were somewhat limited. Gabbiadini trolled us in the DGW, missing the first game and then missing a penalty in the second to finish on a grand total of zero points. And we don’t think he will start this one. We may as well have bought Anichebe and that just about sums up that particular debacle…

And so in comes the in form Vokes. Speaking of trolls, within our budget it was either him or Benteke. We’ve gone with the one with a home game and he also has 3 goals in his last 2 games. Plus West Ham seem to have given up the ghost if last weeks result is anything to by. Plus he may or may not be on pens. That one depends on who else is on the pitch at the time it seems. We spent 20 minutes of our lives discussing and researching that particular topic!

We couldn’t leave it there really without discussing Hazard. His potential minutes this weekend have been a hot topic this week given that he played the full game on Monday. We have no idea whether he will start is the short answer on that. Had we not had any other issues we would have probably sold him for Coutinho this week. We still could have of course but then it would have been for a hit which seemed to be stretching it a bit.

Our Captain is Harry Kane, our Vice Captain is Jesus
This was a fairly unanimous vote. Even though two of the committee are devout anti-Kane disciples, one of them still voted for him. Spurs seem intent on seeing the season out in style and we saw what they are capable of with the shackles off the other night. Four may be stretching it but would anyone be at all surprised to see him hit another hat-trick here?

Hey guys, how’s it going? Finally got into work so I can look at my team again- not much FPL going on with the 20 month old at home! Would love some advice on how to use my last FT of the year, already did Haz –> Coutinho. I have 1FT left and 2.2 ITB. Right now I’m considering bringing in Vokes/Llorente for Anichebe and putting them as 1st sub. Bit of a wasted transfer I suppose, but it means having a nice attacking sub on my bench in case one of my front 7 don’t play tomorrow. Otherwise I’d have to play two Southampton defenders in a 4-4-2, which seems risky. Does that make sense or should I be thinking about something else??

      Hey Red,

Unless you fancy backing your boys tomorrow further by going King to Lallana or Wijnaldum, I would stick with your plan of heave-hoing Anichebe for Llorente (for sub).

      • RedVT says:

Thank you GP, I always value your advice. What do you think about getting in someone like Matip and starting them over Yoshi/Stephens? Hell, I could even reach Azpi and double up on Chelsea defense for that matter. Trying to play smart and don’t need to take big risks, so a well-rounded team with an attacking first sub feels right since I have plenty of defenders already and the last day usually means lots of goals.

        • Mitro says:

          Double up on Chelsea red!!

        • inittowinit says:

I’d suggest that too if only we knew who would play!

        • Mitro says:

It will be a strong Chelsea team tomorrow

        • inittowinit says:

Yeah but how strong? Who sits for Terry? Does Terry even play? There’s about 8 different ways that back 3/5 could line up.

        • Mitro says:

IMO – I think it will be the same backline that has won them the league…. terry will come on late in the game!

        • Bringing in Chelsea is an unnecessary risk I think Red.

Matip or Lovren if you want, wouldn’t talk you out of that if that’s the way you want to go. They should keep Middlesbrough out.

        • RedVT says:

Thanks GP, appreciate your thoughts. Best of luck tomorrow, hope your moves work out and you finish with some big points.

PS- how was the journey? You back at home in one piece or posting from your phone in a tent someplace in the wilderness?? laugh

        • Red

Completed two of the four days and three of us called off injured. It was really tough going. We walked 26 miles the first day and that was so we could have a good start to day 2 but in truth we over estimated the walk. We are going back in October to finish it though, picking up where we left off.

Brilliant trip though – great fun.

          Thanks for asking.

      • RedVT says:

Thank you Mitro and Init, really appreciate the feedback. If I bring in another defender and any of my front 7 don’t play, that means I’m automatically playing 4 at the back though because my 1st sub will be a defender. Does that seem risky on a day when clean sheets may be hard to come by?

Of course if I DON’T replace one of Yoshi/Stephens I could risk having double Saints defense if Alonso or Vert don’t play, which doesn’t sound that great either, ha! I’m probably overthinking things, but I’m only 6 pts out of a top 10 finish in my country so I want to make the smart move.

        • inittowinit says:

Yeah I think you’re on the verge of over thinking now if I’m being totally honest!

        • RedVT says:

Haha, I most probably am Init! These extra long game weeks and late deadlines really do a number on me, lol. I’m looking forward to the season finishing up and having a break for a couple months. It’ll be nice to fall asleep on Friday nights without having nightmares about my captain pick and which keeper/defenders I started, or rushing down to my office at 6:00am (my time) to change something before the deadline! laugh

Hi Red. I had a similar situation in terms of a FT floating around. And also owning that same pair of Saints defenders. When buying them, and on the face of it, Stoke home looked fine. It still may be, who knows. But having the luxury of a FT I looked into all of the goal stats for Saints, Stoke, L’pool and ‘Boro. Without boring you with them I decided to sell Yoshi for Lovren. I couldn’t stretch to Matip or it would have been him.

What to do, Coutinho for Haz maybe? 2 FT to play with.

Hi All. Did a keeper swap my free transfer. Grant to mignolet. I think I may hold off any other moves. I welcome your feedback gang.

    FC Sanchez says:

    Hey lads,

Chasing a 40pt lead (I’m in second) and was wondering who to triple captain? Currently got it on Kane but tempted by Coutinho! What do you guys think? Cheers!

    Caballero
    Cahill / Alonso / Clyne
    Coutinho / Eriksen / Alli / King / Sane
    Kane / Jesus

Subs: Yoshida / Holding / Gabbiadini

      RedVT says:

Hey Sanchez, good to see you man. Nice looking team. Who do you think the guy you’re chasing will captain? You obviously need a differential captain to make up some points, and you’ve got some decent options. Along with Coutinho I’d be tempted with Jesus or even King if you want to throw a real hail mary.

      • RedVT says:

A well-rested Eriksen with a couple Kane assists and a goal himself would be pretty slick, too! laugh

      • FC Sanchez says:

Hey Red! Nice ranking mate! Leader has Kane so I’m assuming he goes with him though he went with Hazard last week. He’s used up all his chips as well.

        His team:

        Heaton / Jaku
        Cahill / Alonso / Stephens / Gabriel / Holgate
        Alli / Eriksen / King / Hazard / Davies
        Kane / Jesus / Lukaku

He’s used his 2ft this week.

        • RedVT says:

Thanks, Sanchez! After missing Kane’s haul last week he’ll most likely go Kane this week (along with a bazillion other people!). All of those secondary captain choices are decent punts, it’s all going to come down to a bit of luck landing on the right one. I think I’d have the most faith on Jesus or Eriksen, with Coutinho and Sane coming in right behind them. I’d probably rule Alli out just because there’s a slight chance he could start from the bench since Eriksen sat last match and Son played so well. Really tough call, this is where all the planning in the world doesn’t matter and you just need that bit of luck! The other thing would be to just put the TC on Kane and hope to hell he goes for somebody else.

        • FC Sanchez says:

Yup, a hella lotta luck man! I’m not putting my hopes up too much anyway as it’s been that kind of season! I’m glad you’re doing well though, Red! Apparently child rearing does wonders for fantasy footy (hope you guys are doing well)!

        • RedVT says:

Haha, child rearing is good and so are slow days at work to sneak a little research in! Everything is going well here, thank you. We’re actually expecting another one, a boy, in November. So things are about to get even more chaotic, in a good way! smile

Hope all is well with you and yours, and best of luck tomorrow- let us know how it goes!

        • FC Sanchez says:

Dang, Red! Congratulations, man! How you gonna get any sleep w/ two toddlers around?!? Oh, Nelly. Good luck tomorrow to you too sir!

    Mitro says:

    Gents

Stick with what I’ve got or do hazad to coutinho? (Rival has brought in hazard)

    • 17.1
      RedVT says:

Mitro, assuming this would be for a hit ( laugh ), I’d stick with what you’ve got. Points are too precious at this stage and you don’t need to take one. If it’s for free, then that’s a different story. I did Hazard out for Coutinho but I don’t feel great about it in all honesty!

      • Mitro says:

        Red

Still have my FT mate smile

        • RedVT says:

Haha, no hits! I’m impressed by your patience Mitro! smile Are you chasing or protecting a lead? If you’re sure your rival has brought in Hazard that makes a big difference. Keep him to block if you’re ahead, but maybe go for a differential like Coutinho if you need to make up some points.

        • Mitro says:

Red – I’m chasing mate! Seriously have no idea on what to do!!

So guys last time I swear. Change Hazard to Coutinho or leave as is?

    • 18.1
      RedVT says:

Team looks good to me, man u man. I wouldn’t take a hit for that move, but would consider it for free.

      • man u man says:

        Yeah I’ve 1ft with .3 itb.what do u think Red?

        • RedVT says:

The Hazard call is up to you, he could play and score big. Personally I’ve taken Hazard out for Coutinho but I’m nervous about it. Could backfire big time. You don’t really have enough to upgrade Carroll in case you need your bench, so I’m not sure what else to suggest. The Haz to Coutinho transfer is a popular one though, so I guess if it does go tits up we’ll at least have a lot of company! laugh

        • man u man says:

Cheers Red. I might just sleep on it. Best of luck tomorrow bud.

        • RedVT says:

Thanks man u man, you too. Something else to consider if you want to keep your Chelsea coverage is someone like Fabregas who many are tipping to start tomorrow if you don’t want to go for Coutinho. The problem is that Chelsea line-up could be anything, even though most think it’ll be a strong side.
