Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 37. It’s the Triple Captain Kane gameweek. Why are you here? It’s obvious. This is GW37 we’re talking about, by the way, not GW22: that was definitely a different DGW scenario. I recall Kane going into that one with two consecutive hat-tricks. Not exactly Triple Captain material, really, was it… this time, with just 2 (actually FPL-accredited) goals in his last 7 appearances, he’ll surely meet expectations. I think that’s how this works? More to come regarding Harry soon. For now, though, please muster the strength to read this and give your penultimate push for work-league glory or, perhaps most importantly, pride.
Harry Claim vs WBA (A) and Newcastle (H)
I won’t mess around. I’ll captain Kane this weekend and I’m sure many of you will be standing with me. Here’s why: Spurs, despite Chelsea’s worst efforts, still have some work to do to secure their PL top-four spot. With no distractions — even for a man with the mental age of a toddler — and a very slim chance to catch Mo’s tally, Kane will definitely play, penalty duty being an added bonus. His first game’s against WBA who, in fairness, have taken 8 of their last 12 possible PL points. Both wins, however, have been on the road; no side has won fewer points at home. Newcastle, as well as they’ve done this year, seem to have started relaxing for summer already. I know 2 goals in those 7 appearances didn’t sound great, but I failed to mention that only 5 were 60+ minutes for him, not forgetting his admirable scoring streak before that. Hugh Hefner had pictures of Harry on all of his bedroom walls.
Will you Triple Captain this genius? I can’t forget what he did as last season concluded. It doesn’t mean he’ll inevitably score 7 goals in just 2 matches this time, but lightning can strike twice, just as a quick look at Cookie’s past-season history will confirm.

Gabriel De Sterling vs Huddersfield (H) and Brighton (H)
I saw ‘Leroy De Sterling’ in my last draft (yes, I just edit each article from one template that was made by Past James, scandalous) and it’s never applied more. ‘Gabriel’ has been chucked in there this time, largely due to the lack of a certain Argentinian in City’s team for the remainder of the season, but even Zabaleta’s presence wouldn’t discourage me from recommending Jesus as a strong DGW contender. Sterling’s overtaken KDB as their top scorer in FPL recently and only Pep’s team rotation limits his potential.
Nobody should expect a 180-minute performance from any given City attacker, but you don’t need 180 minutes to get enjoyment out of most of what life can offer, right? Many opposition defenders against Jesus and co. will claim just 90 minutes made them sore…

Christian Eriksen vs WBA (A) and Newcastle (H)

It’s finally time for me to suggest a specific player who’s actually in good form now! His fixtures are, funnily enough, about as good as Kane’s above; scoring as a midfielder in consecutive matches against Chelsea (A) before Stoke (A) before City (H) is beyond respectable. Speaking of respect, sorry to the Stoke fans here — all 6 of you who haven’t ended it all yet — for using ‘City’ as ‘Man City’ and neglecting you. You’ve suffered more than enough already.
Let’s be brutally honest. You’re chasing a lead if you’re considering this. Well, lack consistency no more, for Christian has abundances of it and plays full 90-minute matches almost every time.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang vs Burnley (H) and Leicester (A)
Europa League-locked and, finally, Arsenal have found themselves a clinical finisher once more. He’s bagged 6 goals already, with 3 assists to boot, making Pierre the sly differential that many might need.

Hi guys,
I’m considering a -16 to do Lowton, Stephens, Mahrez, Gudmonson to Davies, Bednarek, Sane, Carroll. (I already did Barnes to Ayew)
Do you think it’s worth it?
I plan to Bench Boost.

As a plan, in terms of the players out and the obvious reasons why, it seems plausible. Just not overly excited by those coming in.
How much in the bank at the moment?
Not sure the players in warrant a -16 but I think there’s potential with a few hits to be had.
Just 0.2 itb unfortunately.
Any advice very welcome.
I would really like to include a Spurs defender here but that requires to free some cash, hence the likes of Carroll and Bednarek. Stephens not playing doesn’t help either.
I’m not sure what are the other alternatives.

If Walker is confirmed out, Danilo.
If not, if Rose is confirmed out, Davies.
If neither of the above is true, probably Vertonghen (was very close to attacking points yesterday), though Azpi/Smalling/any other City defender you can brave are options.
So my WC/BB/FH execution did not go to plan and my ML is still very much in the balance (maybe even more in the balance than it was before GW32).
Anyway, I have a 24 point lead over second, who has 0 chips left, and a 37 point lead over third, who has BB to play. Fourth has both BB and TC to play but is 57 points behind so i’m not to worried about them (famous last words).
I have 1 FT and £2.9m in the bank and I think the safest thing to do is cover their threats – they all own Sterling, and only 1 owns Jesus, but I feel like I need both (also both great TC options as above). All 3 also own Smalling who has burnt me a lot since I have Bailly but I don’t think this should be of concern (despite his incredible away goalscoring form).
I can do Bailly, Murray and Salah to Naughton, Jesus and Sterling for a -8 with £1m itb but would make bringing Salah back for GW38 near on impossible.
The only way i can cover both and keep Salah is Bailly, Lingard and Vardy to VDH, Sterling and Jesus with £0itb. Vardy is currently a differential but Leicester are shite.
Any other suggestions? Can I get away with just one of the city pair??
May as well shut them down and cover both. What’s their ‘Salah situation’ like?
All have Salah as well. Can’t see any of them shifting him really.
1st team has 2 FT, £0.2 itb with no chips. Very possible he misses the Friday deadline, hasn’t paid much attention to his team but is doing remarkably well. Otherwise i’m sure he’ll do Auba to Jesus.
2nd team has 1 FT, £0.1 itb with BB. No moves for him stand out without a hit, possibly a Salah -> Eriksen.
Pictures have come the other way round obviously. Top team 37 behind with BB with BB, bottom 24 behind without.
Do your second one and keep Salah then, that seems to make the most sense all round.
Guys dont laugh but whats your thoughts on someone like Felliani? i’m considering a few options and bringing a mid below 5m to allow me to strengthen defence. Is there a better option? Not fernadinho.
Felliano did score at the weekend, Man u players will be subject to rotation, plus i recon he plays given contract situation.
Doubt he starts either in all honesty.
Hi all, below you see my current team with 1ft and nothing in the bank. still have BB and TC left. I planned to BB this week, but not sure with game time concerns of Simpson, Stephens and JWP. What would you reckon?
You’d probably have to take a hit and remove 2 of those to justify using it.
Salah and Vardy for Jesus and Sterling? already got Kane and Son
