Fantasy Football FF247 Team Game-week 21

Last GW we were sitting at 966 points and felt the sting of not having those two sixes at the end, upside down. So naturally we scored 33 and made it to our desired number of 999. You can choose to believe that or not, but that’s our story and we are tentatively sticking to it. Our score of 33 was 7 below the average and it landed our GW ranking at 2.6 million and something, but who is counting anyway? After that interesting score, we of course got visited by the guest of honour, Mr. Red Arrow. We now sit at 1.1 million and feel that the five monkeys we have hired to take over the site team, can’t possibly do any worse than the five monkeys that were in charge. So please welcome our new team staff as they look to better the extremely low bar, well saying there is a bar at all is probably giving the team committee too much credit.

GW20 in summary
Usually our defence plays less inspired than our captaincy choices, but this past GW they were at least respectable. With Morgan and Bellerin grabbing clean sheets, we felt like the point tally could be promising. Yeah right…as has now become custom something else went wrong and by something, we mean everything else. Our mids averaged 2 points for a total of eight points and that is when you include the captaincy that we trusted in Mahrez. Our forwards were not much better, although Vardy should have at least grabbed an assist on the penalty, if not for our dear captain missing it. Kane took the day off and Lukaku once again left us feeling that it could have been a ton more, but at least he grabbed an assist for a total of five points. Let’s move onto our transfers for the upcoming game-week so you know which player or players to stay away from.

Transfer/s decision for GW21 – we have sold Aaron Ramsey and Alberto Moreno and bought Delle Alli and Angel Rangel
Now, on the surface the transfers seem fairly straightforward. However, what preceeded them was a decision to wildcard our sorry lot of misfits and two days of wrangling, arguing, toy throwing, laughing, crying, resignations, (reluctant) reinstatements only to end up with a new team that frankly was bang on template, but we had Kun. So the decision was taken (it was about the only thing we did agree on) not to wildcard just to get Kun and a whole load of other high-ownership players. Sure we want Kun but we can do without him this week and the plan is to sell Harry Kane for him with our free transfer for GW22. In the meantime we needed to raise cash. Buying the inform Delle Alli for Ramsey ensures us attacking Spurs coverage for when Kane departs, while Swansea have Sunderland at home in GW21 and gives us immediate improvement (on paper) for this week – the Swans also have some decent fixtures going forward and Rangel seems to be favoured by caretaker manager Alan Curtis. He’s also lovely and cheap at just 4.1mln.

Captain – Kevin de Bruyne
KDB sneaked the vote, pipping Harry Kane 4-2, primarily on the back of his home form this season, where he has delivered double digit returns on four occassions and showed his form on Saturday in the Cup when he came off the bench to score at Norwich. C’mon Ginge, we need you now, more than ever.

Our vice-captain is Harry Kane
If KDB for one reason or another doesn’t feature then Kane will take the armband.

Alright FF247 folks, I decided to quit waffling and just go with my gut. I’ve done Luka/Vardy/Wally -> Kun/Ighalo/Ali for a hit. While I hate to be rid of Luka & Vardy I feel that Kun is ready to break out and Ighalo is the type of. Striker who can score against anyone no matter how well his team is playing around him. Here’s my squad for tomorrow.

OK, I know the suspense is killing you lot so I wanted to let you know brought in Gosling for my 5th midfielder. Thanks for talking me through that everyone.

Now can we talk about captains?? laugh

Anyone want to join me putting the armband on a rested Ighalo and give the VC to Aguero? Could be a big differential pick if Aguero doesn’t go mental!

I very much doubt he will Red and that’s not being a biased Everton fan, I’m their biggest critic, that’s just from watching the game last week. I keep getting told City are a different team at home and whilst I agree with that I just can’t see them cutting loose to a hammering as they might if it was Newcastle or Swansea for example. Looks like RoL has rolled above and started the Ighalo capo bandwagon. Must admit I had considered him too but given as I still don’t own him that’s now unlikely to happen but he was a serious consideration.

      • RedVT says:

Yup, I’m feeling that way as well Init. Glad I saved the money and the transfers to get Aguero in this week, but I’m not sure about giving him the armband. This would be a great opportunity to make up some ground with a nice differential captain pick as most everyone who bought Aguero will captain him. Of course, if he goes and bags a brace or a hat trick and I didn’t captain him after bringing him in I’d really kick myself! One thing that’s making an Aguero captain pick more appealing is Coleman being out though. Any defense would miss him.

        • inittowinit says:

They may well, and should, try to exploit that actually. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Navas deployed over on that side as Coleman is /was the only real pace we have in the back line. He’ll probably play Browning there and the kid is quick but he’s young and can be rash and get skinned as a result. Alternative if Mori is fit is to play Jags out there. He won’t be rash at all but will still get skinned! Oh dear, yeah. Capo Kun mate!

        • RedVT says:

Haha, I’ll have to wait and see what’s going on with the pressers. The risk with not captaining Kun is getting skinned myself if tons of people do give him the armband except me and he goes nuts! Still, lots of really good captain choices this week.

        • Pancho says:

Red & Init, Coleman being out this week was actually the final straw that pushed me to get Kun in. I feel as though there backline could really get punished by the likes of Kun silvea sterling KDB Yaya.
My other thought had been to bring any for Wally and keep him in there to double up on City attack.

        • Pancho says:

Should have said “bring in Yaya”
