Fantasy Football FF247 Team Game-week 3

FF247 team GW3“The good news, we shouldn’t see a red arrow until the New Year.” Well said FF247, well said. Why do we bring that remark up? Well, doing worse was actually possible. That’s right we managed a red arrow after scoring a shocking 19 points this week. We are now only 40K spots away from the magical 3 million overall position. As we now stand in 2,960,600. The good news is that we shouldn’t see a red arrow until the New Year…or next week, whatever comes first. Alright now let’s have a quick rundown of the fantastic XI who underwhelmed us.

In goal we went with no one. Oh well, at least our keeper didn’t disappoint us. Last week we decided to save the transfer and with Courtois being red carded the previous game, we were left with no keeper. We did throw Hennessey out there just in case he had a heart, but don’t think he even noticed.

After scoring 5 points with our defence in GW1, we were due. Due another kick in the balls that is. As our boys only managed 3 points this week. Things are so bad in the back, that even Dick Advocaat would be ashamed to use them at Sunderland.

Just like GW1, our highest scoring mid was Raheem Sterling. Repeating his total of 3 points. You know what, we can’t be mad at that, even if City are scoring for fun and the other mids of consequence are involved in the points. No one is mad, no one. Hazard continues to punish us with his big wages and low output. Mane and Cazorla, whatever.

Our forwards all scored 2. Two points that is. Our jailbird Sakho continues to prove that we placed our eyes on the wrong Hammer. While our captain Rooney didn’t manage a shot in his game vs Vlla. Really? Not even a shot? The year of Rooney some said…right. Luckily Defoe shoots on contact, let us go check the stats. It says he also had no shots, ain’t that some shite!

Well now onto our transfer plans and starting XI. Which should serve you all as a warning. 😉

Transfer(s) for GW3-……..

Sold: Rooney, Hazard & Cazorla
Bought: Aguero, Sanchez & Mahrez

Yes, we’ve taken a hit. Desperate times call for desperate measures and having seen our ranking we’re sure you’ll agree that these are desperate times!

When we picked our initial squad ahead of GW1 the plan was always to replace Rooney with Aguero for either GW3 or GW4, however we didn’t foresee ourselves selling Eden Hazard to fund the deal. Let’s briefly take a look at those whom we have sold. Chelsea’s form in their first two games has been something of a surprise and while we fully expect Hazard to be back in our squad at some stage over the course of the season, so far he has not looked like an £11.5m player in the opening games. Santi Cazorla had quite a good game last weekend against Palace but he never looked like picking up any fantasy points as both he and Ramsey alternated in the double pivot position beside Coquelin. Wayne Rooney has been the biggest disappointment of the three. We had high hopes for Wayne this season but United as a team just don’t look like scoring many goals! Of course any of the three could bite us in the arse, but it’s a chance we’re willing to take.

For us the purchase of Aguero is a no brainer. We watched City’s game against Chelsea from behind the couch, but we saw enough to suggest to get him in this week. A 100% Aguero would have had a hat-trick and with his fitness nearing 100% the goals are bound to start flowing. Just like Aguero, Sanchez isn’t 100% fit, but as we saw against Palace last weekend he will once again be Arsenal’s main man, and while there will be an element of rotation in the Arsenal midfield this season the Chilean will start the vast majority of games. Despite his electric start to the season there is still an element of risk with Riyad Mahrez, simply because he plays for Leicester! However at his current price he’s too good to ignore and it leaves us with money in the bank which will give us some flexibility over the coming game-weeks.

Our team in full…

Team Selection
The team pretty much picked itself this week. With Courtois returning from suspension it means we will be able to field XI players this week! Given Sunderland’s current form Coates wasn’t considered while there are doubts surrounding Oxford’s fitness meaning he joins Coates on the bench. Joining them on the bench this week is James Milner. Liverpool don’t look like a team who are going to score many goals and with Milner playing quite deep it makes sense to bench him for a game in which Liverpool will hope to keep things tight.
