Fantasy Football FF247 Team Game-week 3

FF247 team GW3“The good news, we shouldn’t see a red arrow until the New Year.” Well said FF247, well said. Why do we bring that remark up? Well, doing worse was actually possible. That’s right we managed a red arrow after scoring a shocking 19 points this week. We are now only 40K spots away from the magical 3 million overall position. As we now stand in 2,960,600. The good news is that we shouldn’t see a red arrow until the New Year…or next week, whatever comes first. Alright now let’s have a quick rundown of the fantastic XI who underwhelmed us.

In goal we went with no one. Oh well, at least our keeper didn’t disappoint us. Last week we decided to save the transfer and with Courtois being red carded the previous game, we were left with no keeper. We did throw Hennessey out there just in case he had a heart, but don’t think he even noticed.

After scoring 5 points with our defence in GW1, we were due. Due another kick in the balls that is. As our boys only managed 3 points this week. Things are so bad in the back, that even Dick Advocaat would be ashamed to use them at Sunderland.

Just like GW1, our highest scoring mid was Raheem Sterling. Repeating his total of 3 points. You know what, we can’t be mad at that, even if City are scoring for fun and the other mids of consequence are involved in the points. No one is mad, no one. Hazard continues to punish us with his big wages and low output. Mane and Cazorla, whatever.

Our forwards all scored 2. Two points that is. Our jailbird Sakho continues to prove that we placed our eyes on the wrong Hammer. While our captain Rooney didn’t manage a shot in his game vs Vlla. Really? Not even a shot? The year of Rooney some said…right. Luckily Defoe shoots on contact, let us go check the stats. It says he also had no shots, ain’t that some shite!

Well now onto our transfer plans and starting XI. Which should serve you all as a warning. 😉

Transfer(s) for GW3-……..

Sold: Rooney, Hazard & Cazorla
Bought: Aguero, Sanchez & Mahrez

Yes, we’ve taken a hit. Desperate times call for desperate measures and having seen our ranking we’re sure you’ll agree that these are desperate times!

When we picked our initial squad ahead of GW1 the plan was always to replace Rooney with Aguero for either GW3 or GW4, however we didn’t foresee ourselves selling Eden Hazard to fund the deal. Let’s briefly take a look at those whom we have sold. Chelsea’s form in their first two games has been something of a surprise and while we fully expect Hazard to be back in our squad at some stage over the course of the season, so far he has not looked like an £11.5m player in the opening games. Santi Cazorla had quite a good game last weekend against Palace but he never looked like picking up any fantasy points as both he and Ramsey alternated in the double pivot position beside Coquelin. Wayne Rooney has been the biggest disappointment of the three. We had high hopes for Wayne this season but United as a team just don’t look like scoring many goals! Of course any of the three could bite us in the arse, but it’s a chance we’re willing to take.

For us the purchase of Aguero is a no brainer. We watched City’s game against Chelsea from behind the couch, but we saw enough to suggest to get him in this week. A 100% Aguero would have had a hat-trick and with his fitness nearing 100% the goals are bound to start flowing. Just like Aguero, Sanchez isn’t 100% fit, but as we saw against Palace last weekend he will once again be Arsenal’s main man, and while there will be an element of rotation in the Arsenal midfield this season the Chilean will start the vast majority of games. Despite his electric start to the season there is still an element of risk with Riyad Mahrez, simply because he plays for Leicester! However at his current price he’s too good to ignore and it leaves us with money in the bank which will give us some flexibility over the coming game-weeks.

Our team in full…

FF247 team GW3

Team Selection
The team pretty much picked itself this week. With Courtois returning from suspension it means we will be able to field XI players this week! Given Sunderland’s current form Coates wasn’t considered while there are doubts surrounding Oxford’s fitness meaning he joins Coates on the bench. Joining them on the bench this week is James Milner. Liverpool don’t look like a team who are going to score many goals and with Milner playing quite deep it makes sense to bench him for a game in which Liverpool will hope to keep things tight.

Captain

Our captain this week is Sergio Aguero

Our vice-captain is Alexis Sanchez

I have a tricky problem tonight. I currently have Toure and want to get Silva in, but I also have Aguero and Kompany.

I can just barley afford Silva and he’s set to rise tonight. But if I hang onto Toure (who is also set to rise), I can sell him for a .1 profit. If Yaya goes up and Silva does not, I’m .1 ahead. If they both go up it’s a push and I’m fine too.

However, if Silva goes up and Toure does not, I’ll be .1 short. Would you risk it and hope for the best? I can always either just play Toure for a week until he rises .1, or downgrade Kompany to Kolarov to make the number work. But I’d rather have Kompany and Silva and not use a FT next week. Should I risk it?

      FC Sanchez says:

Hey Red. I’m at the same point w/ my WC. Tuff one that! I might just go Yaya, Silva and Aguero for a few weeks to see who gets more points and then decide! Then again, so many options in MF with the likes of Ayew, Payet, Mahrez, etc. if they continue their form and not so much in DF so far (so Kolarov/Kompany/Sagna might be the better bet than doubling up on Yaya and Silva). I haven’t answered your questions at all have I? Haha. I think Silva is a season long keeper and will inevitably shine and rise price-wise anyway (barring injury). Yaya perhaps the same, so prolly no difference in the end.

      • RedVT says:

Thanks Sanchez, it is a tough one mate! The price change predictions have been way off all week with all the WCs played so it’s by no means certain. I’ve been expecting Silva to rise the past 2 nights but he hasn’t yet! I’d hate to sell Kompany as he’s close to a double rise and +.1 for me too. Haha, crap! laugh

        • FC Sanchez says:

True. I was expecting Silva, Kompany, Mcarthy etc to rise too but they haven’t. Hopefully they continue their form and do rise including Ayew, Gomis, Darmian, etc so we get a bit of an advantage value wise over those patient non-wildcard players !!

      DMC says:

Kind of a gut feeling there for points rather then for money isn’t Red? I reckon you’re fine with any of those options. I have YYT myself If it helps…

      • RedVT says:

Thanks DMC, and you’re right. At the end of the day it’s about points and not money. I may just hang onto Yaya if Silva rises and Yaya doesn’t tonight. He’s looked great so far. It’s just that Silva is… well, Silva!

How are you looking for the weekend, everything set to go?

        • DMC says:

Red- yeah Silva is class and one of my favorites in the game! Took a couple of hits to bring In In form personel while keeping my winter WC. Expecting good returns but did them for TV too. Team is linked with Sanchez (C), YYT and Depay over Haz, Sterlo and Mane.
What do you make of it?
          Cheers

        • RedVT says:

Hey DMC, I like those moves a lot and cut myself free of Hazard as well. Until he starts banging in some goals or at least some assists he’s just not worth 11.5.

Are you going to start Wilson or Sinclar? Think I’d be playing Wilson over him most weeks, the guy’s fast as hell and is bound to score soon.

Very interested in watching Depay this weekend, if he plays like he did in the CL he’ll be transferred in like crazy.

        • DMC says:

Red – Wilson this GW and expecting a goal fest against WH cause I’m also playing Sakho!

      billisBob says:

      That’s a toughie…
What I’d say is one man C player in all positions possible is definitely desirable and honestly you can’t go too wrong. I mean both yaya and silva look like they’ll be getting points throughout the season. I personally prefer Silva – hes one of my favourite players – but he’s certainly more prone to injury so over the course of the season, who knows really…
I think I’d keep toure as he should rise soon enough, and generally as a rule unless need to buy someone like Suarez or something, it’s a good idea not to sell a player who’s getting you points.

      • RedVT says:

Thanks for your thoughts Bob, much appreciated! I’m going to sit tight and see what happens with the price rises tonight, then we’ll see what’s what. It wouldn’t be the worst thing to have Toure instead of Silva this week. And who knows, if the Fantasy Gods are smiling on me maybe Toure will rise and Silva will stay at 10.0! laugh

        • billisBob says:

hahahahahah!!! Stranger things have happened in fpl!
But yeah, I think you should be fine either way – you probably wouldn’t regret buying silva, but the same goes for keeping yaya so yeah.

    FC Sanchez says:

    A couple of quick ones:

How nailed is Dier (Tot)? He’s being played out of position in midfield!?!

    Payet or Sakho?
    Ayew or Montero?
    Smalling or Darmian?
Kompany, Kolarov, or Sagna? (Zaba seems out for a month).
Aguero, Yaya, Silva or Aguero, Silva, Kolarov/Sagna?

    billisBob says:

Hey guys. Having a dismal season so far.
So I’m gonna sell haz i think for silva who’s on fire lol and deeney for gomis who should bang in the points i hope. With these forward players confidence is everything really, isn’t it, so i think these transfers are good. Do have to take a -4 to get the cash but worth it i think since it’s a 4.5 mil non player for a 4.1 player sooooo yeah. Thoughts would be really appreciated.
I think I’m gonna stick with Rooney reluctantly for his record but this is his last chance… Also I’m stuck with Walcott as i think it’s not worth selling now i lost 0.3 mil on him *ARGH* but yea he’s not gonna start is he because wenger gosh urgh. but I’ve lost the cash now and feel like i sorta have to keep him…
yea im rambling now okay bye

      RedVT says:

Hey Bob, how’s it going man? Hope all is well with you, other than FPL stuff that is!! I like the moves you made this week, and would definitely look to ship Rooney off to the hair doctor if he doesn’t start performing for you soon.

More pressing for you though is Walcott I think, because he’s probably going to keep going down in value unless he gets some steady game time, no? Sucks to lose that cash but unless something changes you may have to cut your losses and move on.

Best of luck this weekend, hope you score some big points! smile

      • billisBob says:

Yeah going alright. Still on holiday which is great but this summer’s has had it’s ups and downs.
Yeah thanks! I was so tempted to sell Rooney after two captaincies >:/, but with the newcastle record i thought one more week… The same went for villa tho so i dunno…

Yeah the walcott situation is a big problem really as he’s losing me both points and money… I haven’t been on the ball on price changes otherwise he’d be out. He’s my favourite player but with no starts he’s no use. Sad that wenger lures us on in preseason gosh… But yeah, hoping for a miracle hat trick against liverpool other wise ill just have to take the hit.

Good luck to you too this week!! Hope all good for you too outside fpl also

        • RedVT says:

Things are going well Bob, thanks. About to be a 1st time dad literally any day now. Just waiting on the little guy now, the wife and I are ready!! smile

        • billisBob says:

          Wow congratulations!!!
You’ll have a great time with them I’m sure!

One day you could introduce him/her to fantasy football. My dads the reason I’m here as well as my sister actually haha.

You must be so excited and I guess a little nervous lol, so yeah big congrats!!
          Good luck with everything

        • RedVT says:

Thanks Bob, already got him a little baby sized LFC outfit- home and away! lol laugh

          Red,

Congrats mate – You kept that quiet.

All the best to you, your wife and the little one for the birth. – A day you will never forget. No matter how hard you try! 😉

        • RedVT says:

Thanks Chins, we’re super excited. Due date is the 27th, so it could be any time now. Luckily I’ve got my WC finished and my team sorted now. Figure I can change anything else from my phone in the hospital bathroom in between contractions if need be. laugh

        • Calvin Clyne says:

Congratulations Red mate, fantastic news! Less so about the LFC jersey though, poor guy doesn’t stand a chance…

        • Mitro says:

          Hi Mito!!

I was dead set on the 2nd all week and then I have just managed to come up with the 3rd one earlier this evening!

      • billisBob says:

Well team two but id prefer a city def instead of yaya i think. Kolorov is my pick of the bunch…
Don’t understand why you’d sell mahrez really? I have albrighton whose great too but i mean mahrez is the fpl top scorer man!! Like, are you really gonna sell the most in form player in the league?
like the rest tho quite a but

        • Mitro says:

Bob – I would like to keep him but I need the money

        • billisBob says:

Well, It’s your team so do what you want with it. Go with your gut. That’s the best advice anyone can give.
My advice tho is just to keep him. I dont think you desperately need to sell him really. My view is that you’re weakening your team by letting him go especially with all the money built up. It’s just like there’s so few players who look safe to get points points everyweek, and IMO Marez in this form is one. He’s on the top of his game and high on confidence.

I think Depay is a great player, but one good game against a much less physical team to premier league standards make me want to wait a little on him.

Just my opinion tho – like i said, go with your gut.

      • chins says:

I agree with Meato. Option 3 definitely.

    hi all!
after a very very bad start into the season I’m WCing it – can you rate my current team + comment please!

    • 23.1

@Max, I like your front 7. Here is my one problem, not that it necessarily needs changing this week, but you need to be aware.

      Targett
      Romero
      McCarthy
      Sagna

Could all struggle to retain their spot come GW5 or 6. But for now they should be ok. I only mention it because I hate using transfers on keepers or defenders.

  6. 24
    RedVT says:

Hey late night/early morning crew, any opinions on Whittaker vs Martin for a budget Norwich defender? Both scored last week, need to grab one for my team.

Also, any opinion on Muniesa vs. Cameron for a 4.5 Stoke defender? I don’t know much about them but someone mentioned earlier they thought Muniesa was more nailed. Anyone know one way or the other?

    • 24.1

@RedVT, I would say Whittaker for me, seems to get slightly more chances at a goal for some sort of contribution on the attacking side. The BPS is not enough in favour of Martin as a CB, for it to matter. So Whittaker by a bit.

Not sure on the Stoke one. I also have seen people say Muniesa is more nailed on, but I don’t enough to offer any real opinion.

      • RedVT says:

Thanks Mito, I appreciate it. I was thinking Whittaker too, but Kop tipped Martin this week in his article. Think I’ll go with Whittaker, he had a couple of shots on goal in the first gw as well, so I don’t think his goal last week was a fluke.
