Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 19

All 10 fixtures in one day is the way we like it. With such a quick turnaround, there is no time to mope around and contemplate destroying your team because a Frenchman decided to stick his head somewhere other than between a woman’s legs. It was a high scoring game-week for many and the FF247 site team was not about to be left out in the cold. So let’s get around the grounds and see what our starting 11 produced. In goal we had trusty Joe Hart. His hands are the best around, we particularly like it when he goes out to punch a ball, sooooo secure in the air. :whatever:

Transitioning over to our defence we put the microscope on our SUPER HIGH priced jewel Leighton Baines. Frankly the only thing we can say about our relationship with him is that we are keeping him because we think he is a good luck charm. I know it sounds a bit crazy, but we still own him so any justification for said ownership would probably sound crazier. So yeah, he is our lucky rabbit’s foot. If you have been keeping up with our site articles you will know that we said that Toby Alderweireld would score a goal. We never specified when, but we feel this is a good time to remind you all that we said it. However don’t go kneeling before us, remember we still own Baines. Our last place in defence was taken up by Taylor or Naylor(for the hip crowd) from Swansea. He was able to garner a bonus point to go along with his clean sheet. In a week with very few clean sheets, this was a welcomed inclusion to our game-week.

Moving along to our midfield. Stewart Downing failed to deliver a goal or an assist for the first time since we have owned him. To be fair to him though he was facing the vaunted Chelsea side. So he is forgiven, in part because the rest of his midfield mates picked up the slack. The Viking Eriksen scored the winner for Spurs, but more importantly scored 8 points for our side. His 61 points when playing away are tops in FPL. Our new signing David Silva was under a lot of pressure to deliver. As our transfer out of Hazard for him looked to backfire after the Belgian was able to deliver an assist in the opening fixture. However the Spanish maestro quickly turned our frown around as he not only matched the assist, but added a goal and the 3 bonus to give him 8 more points on the game-week than our departee. The last of our current fantastic four in the midfield is the dirty one, Alexis Sanchez. Who by the way was our captain. Let us just say after some of the scoring we saw during the first 9 fixtures it was a scary site to see Alexis miss a penalty. However we knew…ahhh who the hell are we kidding, we were petrified. This meant a certain plummeting down the standings if he did not deliver. He soon shook off his 5 year old type shot on his penalty and was able to deliver a goal and an assist. After the negative and positive points he was able to hand us a double figure game and when multiplied it gave us 20. Another successful captaincy if we do say so ourselves.

Bony was able to double his output from the last time we fielded him. Unfortunately he only scored 1 point last time. So once again he disappointed us, but the same can’t be said of the Charlie “Milkman” Austin. The man just continues to deliver and his impressive 10 goals in his last 9 starts coupled with his price makes him a very popular figure in the FF247 offices. Speaking of popular I bring you Diego Costa and by popular I mean most owned in his case. He might not be a crowd favourite, but his first double figure game since week 4 will alleviate some of the stench that has been circulating around him and his production. On a side note the ever well behaved Costa managed to not get a yellow card this time, call it a belated Christmas miracle.

We scored 85 points for the week. We moved up 355 places and now sit in a global position of 643rd. This is our highest ranking of the season and hopefully we can continue to climb higher.

Transfer(s) for GW18 So to confirm our transfer we have – Sold Kyle Bartley for Pablo Zabaleta We know that the transfer could have some possible rotation in his team, but we could not pass up the chance to have Zabaleta feature against Burnley for us and with the rest he’s just had, hopefully against Sunderland also on New Year’s day. We think he is worth the transfer and hope he goes forward a lot more than our dear friend Baines has been lately.

Our team in full… Captain Our captain this week is Charlie Austin He has earned this opportunity with his home displays and considering he gave us a hat trick of happiness last time we captained him, we felt he was the man for the job again. Please no head-butts Charlie. Our Vice Captain this week is David Silva.

The team in text format is –
Hart
Zabaleta, Hutton, Baines
Sanchez, Silva, Eriksen, Downing
Austin (c), Costa, Bony
Bench: Krul. Taylor, Alderweireld, Boyd.

      Absolute nightmare! Let’s try again..

Hi all, hope GW18 didn’t dampen your Christmas break..I have a feeling GW19 could cause me some pretty big problems…
With the team attached, what would you do?
Thinking Baines and Bony out for Hutton and Rooney for a -4. Thoughts? Is that too risky for a hit?
      Anything better?

      • FplDoc789 says:

        Hello AT
I’d start Kane over Siggy as I dont see him performing at Anfield. And I’d go ahead with you’re transfers considering I have the said players as well 😉

        • AT says:

Fpl, interesting..not reall thought about playing Kane this GW but that could actually work out better than Siggy…thank you smile

        • FplDoc789 says:

Kane has the advantage of Home fixture and he’s definitely more of a goal threat
          Happy hunting AT

        • NIN says:

Agreed. United’s defence isn’t exactly water-tight anyway. Neither is Liverpool’s though, to be fair laugh

        • AT says:

That’s where my dilemma lies NIN..which is worse? haha laugh..
Agree with my transfers NIN? Or something more sensible out there?

        • FplDoc789 says:

Lol true. But Siggy in particular seems to stutter away from home. Also in those games he tends to come off after 70 mins. Hopefully doesn’t backfire on me as I’m debating on Downing/Siggy
Started Siggy over Downing last week. Hopefully downing for Siggy this week should pay off

        • NIN says:

Yeah, AT, i think those are good moves.

        • AT says:

Worth a hit? Just have a funny feeling a player like Bony will cause Pool’s defence nightmares..
And Baines will probably get a CS and score a pen!

        • AT says:

Heard Howard is doubtful as well as Jag for Newcastle game…I could do a straight swap for a City defender and leave Bony?

        • NIN says:

It’s worth it if you see the games going a certain way, ya know? By the sounds of it, you reckon the players you have are going to do well. In that case, keep them. Personally, i think Newcastle will beat Everton (sorry init) and Liverpool vs Swansea to end up 1-0 either way or 1-1, which doesn’t leave a lot of points up for grabs from Baines and Bony. Sunderland have scored once in the last 5 meetings with Villa and United generally do Spurs. For those reasons, i would make the transfers. they are just my thoughts/predictions though smile

        • AT says:

NIN, the stat man my have just swayed me laugh

        • FplDoc789 says:

          Totally

        • NIN says:

AT/FplDoc789 – Use 11v11, lads. Whenever i’m making transfers or trying to decide who to make (c) i use it. Just type whatever fixture you want to see the H2H history of into Google and put 11v11 after it and it will show the entire histrory between the two clubs, in all competitions. For example, you want to see Villa vs Sunderland’s history you type in
“Aston Villa vs Sunderland 11v11” into Google and the link will come straight up. Click on the individual matches to see who scored all the goals (this is especially useful for spotting players who tend to do well against certain teams).

        • AT says:

If I could do the thumbs up emoticon it would have been inserted here, thanks NIN!

        • FplDoc789 says:

Oh mate, 3 cheers for that for sure!

      Pancho says:

Nah, I don’t think it’s necessary and United are away from home for a few weeks. I’d leave your 8 forward players and maybe just think about a straight swap for Chambers, as he is not a guaranteed starter. A Villa defender would be good for the next few weeks (Vlaar is 4.4 and Hutton is 4.3).
If you ara adamant about Baines out, as any are, then a straight swap for Mangala would be a good move and it would give you an extra 1.1ish itb
Anything ITB? If you have enough maybe go for City coverage with Clichy (5.7) or Mangala (6.0)
DO you have enough itb to you do Baines & Chambers -> Mangala & Cahil?

      • AT says:

        I don’t..0,4 short of that..

Not adamant on getting Baines out, but with Jagielka injured I’m struggling to see how they’ll start picking up CSs again.

        • Pancho says:

I don’t think Baines should be in any team as a CS option, more as a goal scoring/assisting threat. They haven’t been defending well even with Jags and Howard, but without them it should be abysmal!
I do think Chambers-> Villa coverage would be a fine move though. Bony could have a great game against Liverpool. I could see him giving their back three a tough night!

    Hello all
So here’s how my team looks after
    Kane+Alderw for Austin+ Hutton

What is the team I should start ? (3-4-3 seems the best)
    Wisdom or Shea ?
    Downing or Siggy?

Or Dyu suggest any other transfers to better my team? (Haven’t finalised the transfer yet)

    Cheers managers

The rest of the players pick themselves (hopefully)

      NIN says:

FplDoc789 – Definitely 3-4-3 mate. I would bench Sigurdsson, O’Shea, Chambers in that order. I’ve got a similar team to yours and went Sanchez -> Yaya due to fixtures. There’s a good chance i would have taken a hit for Austin, like you have, but i’m 0.1m off. Oh well smile

      • FplDoc789 says:

NIN.. yes you mentioned you were shy 0.1 mil for Austin.
And as for Sanchez I’m hoping to stick onto him till the next wildcard. He isn’t underperforming that badly yet (Not to Baines extent anyways)

        • FplDoc789 says:

          NIN
          Hutton/ Bruce?
Hutton is a goal threat against a tricky Sunderland whereas Bruce is a start for Hull vs Leicester. But also keeping in mind Hull have plenty of suspensions and injuries.

        • NIN says:

Villa’s next four games are sweet, so Hutton for me.

        • FplDoc789 says:

That should help me clean up my defense s bit. Cheers mate

    Hey everyone!

Festive greetings! Hope you’ve all had a brilliant Christmas and you got some excellent returns in your fantasy footy yesterday! I got 88 and so I’m back in the top 10k again! Very happy!

With my 2 FTs, I’m thinking of doing Kane to Austin and Chambers to Bruce. Whilst Kane has been on fire, I can’t help but think Austin will be ridiculous the next two games (and QPR have got better fixtures). My thinking is that Arsenal have tricky fixtures coming up too and Hull have Leicester at home (plus various suspensions and injuries and so Bruce should play).

Thoughts would be much appreciated! Current team without any changes is below.

    Cheers!

This is thoughts on this GW
Thinking of transferring Austin in for Bony this week.
Jagielka & Clichy are concerns with rotation & injuries. Thinking Jagielka to maybe Cahill and starting 3 Chelsea players.

    PunkDragon says:

How about the news that Crystal Palace have sacked their Manager? I was locked in on Silva as my Captain for this GW but given that Palace is in some sort of flux, Charlie Austin is looking like a very tempting choice. Also, some teams have been known to pull up their socks and work harder when a coach has been fire, so that’s there too. Silva or Austin despite the Captain’s Poll?
