Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 22

Wow. It’s tough at the top! Despite registering a respectable 69 (-4) and outscoring the average by 13 points we still managed to slip back 332 places overall to find ourselves in 1,976th. We blame Hazard. And Sanchez. Although we owned both. More on those two scampsters later.  We very nearly wildcarded last week and it was a close call but instead chose to wait and took a small gamble on a hit to get Kane and Hazard. Kane delivered for us but it was Hazard that hurt most which is quite ironic as the reason we took the hit was in fear of Hazard hurting us massively if we didn’t have him and he went off on one. As he can do. So despite having some decent scorers in our midst this week it does go to show what a difference nailing your captain can do. We went for Hazard as he’s been on fire and he was at home with a decent fixture but he managed to pull in just the 3 points, doubled up to 6. Here’s how the rest fared and what we have decided to do ahead of GW22 to try and haul ourselves back up that leaderboard…

Our defence really hurt us this week, pulling in just 9 points between the sorry lot of them, while our current kryptonite nemesis Mr Baines sat on our bench with a smug little assist waving at us, just out of reach. Prior to Christmas doubling up on City in defence looked a good idea but it’s certainly something we will be addressing with our WC.  Hutton and Taylor were more ‘ones we sort of had to do with’ this week and in all honesty we feared the worst. And got it.

7 of our front 8 actually delivered attacking returns this week. As luck would have it the only one who didn’t – we captained! Sanchez delivered massively of course and we just had to count our chicken’s that we had him and Downing and Silva proved their consistency with an assist and 2 bonus each. Up top we were delighted that new signing Kane grabbed a goal as did both of the old guard Costa and Austin.

So all in all hardly a disaster and the good news is that despite slipping a few ranking places overall we remain No1 in our adopted ‘home country’ of Bonaire, Saint Eustatius and Saba!

Transfer for GW22

Our team itself wasn’t in bad shape this week and so we felt once again that we could hold the wildcard with a view to playing it in the two week break ahead of GW23. In light of this we decided to make just the one alteration this week and having lost Toby Alderweireld to injury and Alan Hutton being the only alternative up against Liverpool we fancied West Ham to keep a clean sheet against a striker-less Hull. We wouldn’t ordinarily bring in a West Ham defender at this point as their fixtures after this week are pretty challenging but given as we will likely wildcard anyway this felt like a nice one-off.

So to confirm our transfers we have –

Sold Toby Alderweiereld and Bought James Tomkins

Our team in full…

Captain

Our captain this week is Harry Kane

Our vice-captain is Eden Hazard

The team in text format is –
Hart
Zabaleta Tomkins Baines
Sanchez Silva Hazard(v) Downing
Austin Costa Kane (c)
Bench: Krul. Boyd Hutton Taylor

Why would u get rid of Jones? They have good fixtures.

I’m starting Walkseki, they’re at home and have kept a couple of CSs recently.

I’d keep Jones, Utd’s run looks good. As for the other, looking at their recent respective results home and away they both seem to keep it relatively tight. It’ll be a close game, toss a coin on that one.

Not too big a decision I’ve got to make this week but…

Janmaat (H to Southampton) OR Hutton (H to Liverpool)???

    Hi all,

Having similar problems with my backline too. Obviously Alderweiereld has to go and Tomkins is an interesting prospect with the way Hull have been going of late, altho I was looking at Bertrand given the form the Saints seem to be back to form.

I would prefer not to take any -4 hits this week but may have to?

    Any help is very appreciated.

OK, time to get serious. 21 GWs without Sanchez was always going to bite hard, and boy did it sting last week smile

Anyhow, WC active, and proposed GW 22 line-up as follows. Comments welcomed.

    Heaton (Hamer)
    Terry Bertrand Lescott (Duff Wasilweski)
    Sanchez Hazard Silva Eriksen (Albrighton)
    Aguero Pelle Kane

I feel your pain Blue, I had Sanchez for the first 7 gws and took him out when Rooney got red-carded to buy Kun. Alexis then went on to get 13, 16, 16 in the next 3 gw’s, which stung.

Your team looks solid, my only concern is Heaton as your only keeper and Albrighton as your 5th.
You could swap Lescott for Wisdom and save a bit of cash, also Eriksen to Chadli will give a bit more to play with.

Blue – I’m not sure about Albrighton as I’m not sure how long he’ll remain in the starting XI. Also I wouldn’t be surprised should Hamer lose his place to Schwarzer in the coming weeks.

    Hi guys,
would you rather play Foster EVE away or Krul SOU home.
I’m playing Wisdom so it seems brave to double up away to Everton

Hello guys I’m kinda new here, I would really like your take on my team. I know I’ve gone midfield / striker heavy. WC active, will my defence hold ?

      Welcome to the site smile

Tomkins is a great pick for this week, but things get tough for West Ham starting next week.
Chambers could be a decent pick with Debuchy out but Bellerin could challenge for the right back spot.

You’re unlikely to want to play 4 at the back every week meaning you will have to play Boyd as you wont want to play Sanchez (the Villa one!).

You could look to downgrade one of Forster or Clyne to free up some cash, although I’m not sure that will be enough to make any serious im

      • Black H4mmer says:

I guess you are right. but can you see any way of keeping my front 3 and midfield of Alexis, Fab & Silva

        • Kop Warrior says:

You can certainly keep them, but it will obviously mean a weak defence. Then again, if Chambers can make the right back spot his own while Debuchy is out your defence may not actually be that bad as you can play him and Clyne every week

      Pancho says:

I would downgrade Costa. He’s eating up so much of your budget. The question is: If having Costa means a weak defense and mid is he worth it? For me it’s not worth it. He doesn’t score enough fantasy points.
I’d go Giroud/Pelle. That’ll give you 3ish to strengthen elsewhere. Enough for Sanchez to Chadli/Downing?
