Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 22
Wow. It’s tough at the top! Despite registering a respectable 69 (-4) and outscoring the average by 13 points we still managed to slip back 332 places overall to find ourselves in 1,976th. We blame Hazard. And Sanchez. Although we owned both. More on those two scampsters later. We very nearly wildcarded last week and it was a close call but instead chose to wait and took a small gamble on a hit to get Kane and Hazard. Kane delivered for us but it was Hazard that hurt most which is quite ironic as the reason we took the hit was in fear of Hazard hurting us massively if we didn’t have him and he went off on one. As he can do. So despite having some decent scorers in our midst this week it does go to show what a difference nailing your captain can do. We went for Hazard as he’s been on fire and he was at home with a decent fixture but he managed to pull in just the 3 points, doubled up to 6. Here’s how the rest fared and what we have decided to do ahead of GW22 to try and haul ourselves back up that leaderboard…
Our defence really hurt us this week, pulling in just 9 points between the sorry lot of them, while our current kryptonite nemesis Mr Baines sat on our bench with a smug little assist waving at us, just out of reach. Prior to Christmas doubling up on City in defence looked a good idea but it’s certainly something we will be addressing with our WC. Hutton and Taylor were more ‘ones we sort of had to do with’ this week and in all honesty we feared the worst. And got it.
7 of our front 8 actually delivered attacking returns this week. As luck would have it the only one who didn’t – we captained! Sanchez delivered massively of course and we just had to count our chicken’s that we had him and Downing and Silva proved their consistency with an assist and 2 bonus each. Up top we were delighted that new signing Kane grabbed a goal as did both of the old guard Costa and Austin.
So all in all hardly a disaster and the good news is that despite slipping a few ranking places overall we remain No1 in our adopted ‘home country’ of Bonaire, Saint Eustatius and Saba!
Transfer for GW22
Our team itself wasn’t in bad shape this week and so we felt once again that we could hold the wildcard with a view to playing it in the two week break ahead of GW23. In light of this we decided to make just the one alteration this week and having lost Toby Alderweireld to injury and Alan Hutton being the only alternative up against Liverpool we fancied West Ham to keep a clean sheet against a striker-less Hull. We wouldn’t ordinarily bring in a West Ham defender at this point as their fixtures after this week are pretty challenging but given as we will likely wildcard anyway this felt like a nice one-off.
So to confirm our transfers we have –
Sold Toby Alderweiereld and Bought James Tomkins
Our team in full…
Captain
Our captain this week is Harry Kane
Our vice-captain is Eden Hazard
The team in text format is –
Hart
Zabaleta Tomkins Baines
Sanchez Silva Hazard(v) Downing
Austin Costa Kane (c)
Bench: Krul. Boyd Hutton Taylor

Afternoon all. Anyone got any advice for this team? I intend to wildcard during the break sometime I think. All I am considering here is whether to transfer in a defender? 0.8m in the bank and looking for a one week CS/goal punt. Cheap WHam in for Wisdom? Or Gardos in for Colo? Not sure Saints will keep a CS though. Thoughts welcome!
Pippin,
Double West Ham may pay off. I like your team as it is and you don’t have bad options on the bench either. If you have a transfer you need to burn (i.e 2FT) then maybe Colo for Tomkins and play him instead of Wisdom.
I would be tempted to leave it as it is though.
+1
I think it’s wise to keep wisdom.
”Wise to keep wisdom.” Harharhar. I get it.
Thanks all. Yes, I am not convinced any transfers desperately need to be made. I doubt whether Everton vs WBA will be 0-0 but Wisdom and Baines do like to get forward….??
Suddenly I seem to have started a rush to get Phil Jones. No idea why. Read post no.39
Utd have got decent fixtures & jones is the cheapest way in out of the definite starters
Hi SAF
I mentioned him a week or two back and then didn’t take him in my own WC team! Glad I didn’t though with the Southampton result.
I’m running with Rooney and ADM though and I’m expecting big points these next two matches.
WTF does this comment of Jose mean?
”Mourinho “For Eden Hazard to go down it has to be really nasty. And he has no protection. That is the reality.”
Is he injured or what?
Raz – It means that Hazard isn’t a diver, and doesn’t over exaggerate when he gets fouled, meaning every time he goes down it’s a bad foul. Just Jose being Jose. Hazard is fine.
Hazard not a diver? What type of bs is that? You sure?

Jose’s comments mate, not mine. That’s what he meant though.
Team,
Need to replace Alderweireld and the options are:
Gardos
Dann
Pieters
First one is a short term move and the other two I’d hope to have for a period of time owing to very good fixtures.
Any ideas or others I may have missed? Trying to spend 5.0 but could go to £5.5.
Thanks all.
TGP – Phil Jones? I’m between him and Gardos on my WC team. Curtis Davies? great home fixtures (NEW/AVL/QPR/SUN) and Hull could keep a few CS against the low table teams, just like last year.
TGP – I would go for Gardos mate. Despite their injuries, i think Southampton will remain fairly tight.
GP, I like Dann myself but its a tricky week as we don’t know who is going to do well longterm. I was very tempted by Gardo but he may only play this week and I want to see how the Saints perform with the key injuries they have gained. What about holding your transfer and having two during the break?
NIN/Albertini/Alex
Thanks chaps.
Still pondering.
Hello all, is it worth a 4ph to sort defence out? I have nothing in the bank and no free transfers and think clyne/bert are the best option but can’t afford without 8ph which seems extreme. I don’t want west ham for one week. Any thoughts greatly appreciated!
Alex, no hit needed imo.
+1
Cheers boys, NIN what did you end up doing?
This is my set up for this week mate. Azpi -> Bertie was my FT.
NIN – Nice team, I’m not sure if I’d play Cameron or Wasi but it’s a close one.
ADM for cappo is a bit risky if you consider ManU last match without a single shot on target but I’m also undecided on that issue, I’ll probably go Kun.
Albertini – Re Di Maria, that’s the idea! My team has been static, rank wise, for ages now so it’s time to make one or two differential decisions and see if i can break into the top 1k and push on. I think we’ll batter QPR, or at least, we should batter QPR. Here’s hoping
Yes you should!
But I think LVG has been playing ADM in a wrong position, too up front and with no spce to run with the ball like he always did and quite well. If this change he could be a decent shout for sure. As an owner here’s also hoping so good luck!
Afternoon all.
Any thoughts on my WC team? Been struggling with the defence all week, almost regreted having change Austin for Kun but it’s done and I’ll follow this path. Costa is an easy change to someone like Sturridge, Falcao or even Bony if needed in a few weeks.
Jones or Gardos (and use a FT when Alderweireld’s back)?
Also, Hamer or Myhill? Can’t decide on this one…
Looks good as is. I would go with Gardos but Jones is a good pick too, i think.
Cheers NIN.
Are you set for this week mate?
See above, on Alex’s post
Albert, Id go Grado to not keen on Man U backline. Also if you are going for a 4mil keeper get Myhill, you then are always going to have a keeper. Yes you are always having West Brom but Hamer will be dropped soon and you have Was a Lec cover.
Thanks Alex, I might go Gardos and Myhill, those look like the more sensible moves. Also would allow me to keep 0.4 ITB to use on Gardos when Toby’s back.
