Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 23

Although we barely scored above the average of 52 we managed to gain 193 spots in the overall and now sit in 1783th place. After 3 straight red arrows, a green one even if only by a bit was well received. That slight uptick in the standings leads us straight into the use of the wildcard. We are so excited! We usually fight discuss one transfer for several days. You can imagine that the fighting discussion over 15 open spots will not be the easiest. And just when we thought we were all set, Emre Can decides to stick his leg right underneath Costa’s boot. Damn you Can! Damn you! Oh well, our decision on our Spanzilian friend will come later in the article and since I know you have not looked at the screenshot before reading this, we will save that big mystery for later. Let’s go over what our beloved (we sold most of them already) fighting 11 did for us in GW22 before we move on…to our all new beloved fighting 11.
In goal we had the very trusty Joe Hart. He has a certain pattern going when it comes to his fpl points, 3-1-0-3-1-__ anyone care to guess what goes next? Anyways thanks for your service over the last five gameweeks, those six points over that span didn’t leave us bitter at all. Now, what’s better than one City keeper? How about a City defender to keep him company. Yeah…not our best call this season. A double up with Zabaleta and Hart was not the best idea we ever had. So after our high priced City defence led the way with a pair of one pointers, it was only safe to assume that Leighton “FF247” Baines would once again concede. Shockingly though, he managed a clean sheet for the first time since forever. Thanks! But this does not in anyway make up for the misery you put us through all these weeks. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out! Our transfer prior to gameweek 22 was to bring in Tomkins from West Ham. Well we can’t get them all wrong on defence. As Tommy boy picked up the clean sheet in his one off appearance for us.

Moving along to our midfield we find David Silva. He had such a promising start on our side. Then he got infected with whatever Hart and Zaba have. Although to be fair to our silky friend, he became what he has always been more than anything. Someone who gets you about 5 points a game and that is what he has about averaged over the last 4 weeks. So fair enough Silva, moving onto Hazard and Sanchez. A pair of 3 pointers from the dynamic duo. Not what one would hope for from them two, but we know that those kind of low outputs must be ignored for the most part. Both are very explosive and double digits are always easily within the grasp of both. Speaking of double digits, we were very happy to see the 11 point return from former Liverpool legend Stewart Downing. Even though he is unlikely to retain his spot on our side because of the difficulty of his upcoming fixtures, he was certainly a very productive member and great value while we had him. And remember Stewart, YNWA.

Our forwards on the whole did not do bad once you combine (20 points) their tallies. Problem was that the majority came from Double D himself and he was not our captain. Dirty Diego once again scored and with 17 goals in 19 games he certainly is having a spectacular season. Maybe one of these days we will remember to bring him up in our captaincy talks, FFS. Charlie Austin, was unable to deliver more than 2 points and with 3 blanks in the last 4, we think ol’ Charlie might want to catch a ride from Leighton on his way out from our team. Superhero Kane (our capo) ran into the vaunted Sunderland defence. Perhaps we should have remembered that Wes Brown was playing for the Mackems before we made Harry our captain. Well out with the old and in with the new, let us now look at our new signings.

New FF247 team is…

As you can see there are some changes to the provisional wildcard squad we posted last week. The main talking points are up front. Diego Costa’s three match ban means he has a holiday from the squad with Graziano Pelle coming in as a replacement. More interestingly, you will see no Sergio Aguero. Are we crazy? Well, yes, but that’s another conversation. Our plan is to buy Aguero for next week when City’s fixtures turn rosy. Away to Chelsea will not be a goal fest we feel and with Kun still feeling his way back from injury, we thought a one week punt on someone else, with a better fixture, could pay rich dividends. So we have plumped for RvP, home to Leicester. Hopefully it works. For a week!
Buying David Ospina means we could also get some United defensive cover, so welcome Phil Jones. He takes our corners too. This also means we don’t have to double up on Sunderland defence, which is always comforting.
Santi Cazorla comes in as we felt, with Alexis’ injury, we wanted some attacking Arsenal cover – Cazorla is in good form and hopefully he settles in well and feels at home with us – as he blasts in a first half hat-trick!
So that’s our wildcard squad, now for our starting XI.
Ospina is a shoe in at home to Villa, while Clyne, Jones and Terry all pick themselves.
We have decided to start Alexis, just on the off chance of a miracle recovery and on the basis that he’s either fit to play or sit in the stand. We can’t see him being benched. So in theory, it’s a 5-man midfield, though in practice, we don’t expect to see Alexis on the pitch, as per Wenger’s comments. In that case Harry Kane will come off the bench.

Captain

Our captain this week is RvP
Yep, our one week punt has been given the added responsibility of producing a majestic double point haul. With LVG saying he needs his team playing a faster game, we expect United to dominate possession, create chances and hopefully overwhelm Leicester, with RvP being the main beneficiary. Hopefully!

Our vice-captain is Santi Cazorla

The team in text format is –

Ospina
Jones, Clyne, Terry
Johnson, Sanchez, Puncheon, Hazard, Cazorla
van Persie, Pelle

Bench: Foster. Kane, van Aanholt, Baird.

Okay, I think the WC team is complete…(yeah right!)
Anyway, please take a look and tell me what you think..Nothing left in the bank.
Departing with Kane was difficult but two Spurs players given their fixtures just didn’t seem wise..anyway, what do you think?

Perhaps keep Kane and get Puncheon for Eriksen? Gayle, freeing up cash with a similar points return? Maybe be able to squeeze in a Chelsea defender, perhaps theyre just my principles but I always feel the need for a Chelsea defender

      • AT says:

Cheers TETH, just thought that over the coming weeks Gayle and Eriksen would far outscore the other two. Also, some great CS fixtures for my defence so might just take the punt.

      • EBC says:

Kane & Puncheon do look better value.

        • AT says:

Where has this Puncheon love come from all of a sudden? Haha
Surely Gayle and Eriksen will outscore them over the coming weeks?

He has scored 9 and 12 in the last two weeks hardly something to be snubbed at, Kane and Puncheon total 11.5m, Eriksen and Gayle are 13.2m, 1.7m will renovate the defence and even turn your Ward Prowse into Elia!

      Raziel says:

I reckon Spurs and Arsenal like to score. I expect a 4-4 game.

Anyway, team looks solid. I see you’re planning to rotate JWP and Gayle? Wait, Bellerin and Baird are both risks and Wolfscheid is playing for a team that has been shite defensively.

      • AT says:

That is true haha…which player would you suggest for Wollscheid? Don’t really want to double up on Sunderland with PVA.
Bellerin is worth the punt I feel and Baird is cheap enough to not play regularly 😉

        • Raziel says:

Think WBA are in the market for another defender to replace Baird (probably). However, they haven’t got anyone yet (as far as I know). Ummmmmmmmmmm, hard one. You have 4.5m to spend on the last defender?

        • AT says:

Schlupp could be worth a punt as he is in midfield but those fixtures…

        • Raziel says:

Sorry, still have to help you. Almost forgot. You’re the last person AT. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Hmmm not many choices at that price. I like Hutton but Villa have terrible fixtures. At the price the only one left I really, really like is PvA. I think he has potential to score goals and assist. However, like you pointed out, double Sunderland doesn’t feel right.

Schlupp seems like a terrible idea if you look their fixtures and that they miss a game in 5 GW’s. Schlupp will have: Manu (A), Cry (H), Arse (A), Eve (A), BLANK GW! Really bad.

Than I would stick with Wolfshite. For the price and fixture wise the best option. Plus it’s not like Stoke have shit defenders, they’ve just been shite. Might turn around. Last season they were CS kings iirc.

Whaddaap guys. You reckon I’m good to go? Still have wildcard in pocket. Will use it tomorrow once GW 23 has started. smile

Of course you are! Have you planned your WC or are you just going to stress like a badly inflated mattress amount to spend a night in with Susan Boyle E.G. me?

      • Raziel says:

Planned? Watcha mean? The plan was to use the WC as late as possible. Wanted to use WC during this 2 weeks (that was sort of the plan, looked best) but the fixtures for me this GW were almost too perfect. Would’ve been a waste had I activated it two weeks back. Too bad both Sanchez and Costa seem to be out, if they would still be in I dare to bet I’d have a better or just as good a team as anyone just on wildcard. I’d have used my last FT on Silva and swap in him for Di Maria. Plans got killed and now I have no Sanchez or Costa. On a positive note, neither does the rest of the top 10k. smile

We are all in the same boat I suppose, except it might benefit me as I am sitting around the 30K mark. Like have you any specific plans on who you want to get in next week assuming youre playing your WC? smile

        • Raziel says:

I do. But we’ll talk about that another day? If you’re online or whatever that is ”Susan”. laugh

Off for bed now. LCD screen is giving me a bloody headache.

    Hi all

Wildcard time. Struggling to find a midfielder for 6.5-7? Thinking chadli? Any other suggestions? Could you please also rate my choices so far. Plan is to swap Rooney for Costa when hes back.

Puncheon given a predicted reformation in the Palace camp, also Chadli is still on the ropes for the weekend if Im not mistaken.

      • Raziel says:

Yip. Chadli is the only doubt as far as I know.

        • kickers says:

What about the rest of the team?

        • kickers says:

Actually just seen wildcard can be played up to end of game week 23 not by tomorrow. So here’s my current team. What changes would you do? I was thinking Costa fir Rooney ? Cheers

        • TETH, Social drinker and (Former)firm believer of the Abel Hernandez bandwagon. Also the self proclaimed most inactive ff247 member this season. says:

Fairly strong but is Wilson nailed on? I know Baird isnt but Im willing to bank him for a few weeks myself.

        • TETH, Social drinker and (Former)firm believer of the Abel Hernandez bandwagon. Also the self proclaimed most inactive ff247 member this season. says:

Id probably wildcard, you will miss out on some real points tomorrow by packing so many city and chelsea players as well as carrying stragglers, your call though mate!

About to bring in walcott. Who would take out of these two

    Fabregas or silva

    RedVT says:

Guys, any suggestions on what to do with my 2 FT this week? I’d like to hold onto Fab and Sanchez, and I like Silva’s fixtures after the Chelsea match. So I was thinking of keeping 1 FT and upgrading Wasilewski to a 4.4 or less defender. This would mean playing a 4-3-3 assuming Fab and Sanchez don’t make it. Defenders I’m considering are PvA and Muniesa, although PvA would mean doubling up with my Sunderland keepers. Any thoughts on 4.4 defenders or other ideas??

    Pants Mannone
    Terry Bertrand Wisdom Hutton Wasilewski
    Silva Hazard Fabregas Sanchez Boyd
    Giroud Aguero Kane

    2 FT and .5 ITB.

      Raziel says:

I like the idea of Silva to Di Maria. Di Maria has a great fixture. I’d even cap him if I had him. Was the transfer I wanted to make till Costa killed that hope. FREAKING TURD HE IS!

      • RedVT says:

Thanks Raz. Pretty set on keeping Silva for now I think. Definitely keeping an eye on ADM for the future though, if United get back on track and he starts scoring some points that is!

    • 17.2
      1 of 7 says:

All 4.4 defenders are a bit risky red.bellerin of Arsenal could be a short term punt.maybe Hutton to a 4.9 defender gives you better options.villa have tough fixtures in the next few weeks.

      • RedVT says:

Thanks 1 of 7. I did consider dropping Hutton, but I bought him for 4.0 and his fixtures from GW 25 on look pretty decent. Bellerin is a nice thought, just wish his game time was more certain!

Right, activated my wildcard, what are the “key players” i need to have? Also what do i do with Costa given his situation?

One of Haz/Fab (perhaps Oscar), Aguero and DWIGHT GAYLE 😉

AT has clearly had one Bev too many, he doesnt actually mean Gayle… I still standby Puncheon and Kane 😉

        • AT says:

Nah TETH, Kane has peaked too early 😉 . just wait till you see what my duo provides (still haven’t had the bottle to confirm my transfers hahaha)

Well considering all this Kane/Defoe/Gayle debate has been going on Ive reopened my WC, I am now on the verge of removing young Harry, but i will rue to regret it if I do!
