Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 27

fantasy football team tipsThe pain that was GW26 is over and frankly said, good riddance. Another tough week for the FF247 team and surely this could lead to some sackings. Maybe we can find a LVG type to help with our team selection? Or perhaps Mourinho can help us learn how to deflect blame a bit better. Not sure what we have to do, but this has to turnaround quick. We dropped 864 spots in the overall and are now in 2631th place. That would be a ranking that we should be immensely proud of, but we all know that after seeing the penthouse inside the top 1k, it is hard to go back to just a nice room. So with that said let us access what led to our problems this past GW and put some of our non-performers under the microscope.

In goal we had David Ospina. Once again he did not get us that coveted clean sheet and worse than that, Foster once again did, as those much needed points stared at us from our bench. Luckily (or so we thought) we found out that Phil Jones was passed fit. Unfortunately he continued to struggle to bring in any points for us. As he managed to score us a doughnut. PvA was teamed up with him and it was a fantastic decision to play him as we were correct in thinking that Sunderland could get a cleanie. However we were wrong in thinking he would start. So yeah, thanks for that 3 minute cameo and that one pointer. John Terry was the last of our crew in the back. We were so happy to see a Chelsea defender scored, surely it be Terry this time, right? What?! Ivanovic again, greedy bastard! We thinks we might have went for the wrong Chelsea defender.

In the midfield we did much better. Of course, it be hard not to be better than 5 points from 4 guys like our back line scored. Nevertheless there are still problem spots that we will need to address at some point. Adam Johnson once again blanked and considering the fixtures he just navigated through, one would have expected a much better return. Maybe a match up vs Phil Jones can ignite him in GW27, that always seems to help. A bigger problem might be the slumping Sanchez. His returns have dried up and considering his price tag, he is a player that we will have to keep a close watch on going forward. That penalty the dirty one missed earlier in the season is really proving him costly in FPL, as pens can sometimes save a player from having too many bad scoring weeks. Cazorla has been the beneficiary with 4 goals on penalties since the Alexis miss. With the goal from the spot vs Palace he was able to go double figures after a two game-week stint of 2 pointers. The top player in the game Hazard was able to garner 8 points. Incredibly he has managed all 3 bonus points twice this season, despite only delivering a single assist in said games.

Shifting our attention to our front line we notice that our captain choice did not let us down even if his manager did. It was expected that Kun would be substituted early in preparation for Champions League, but one minute before the 60h minute mark was a bit cruel. It was almost as bad as owning Phil Jones. Moving on to our other strikers we see Kane once again scored. It was just too bad it was after missing the penalty. So only 4 points for Harry in this game but his incredible goal scoring form continues. Only way you can control Kane these days is with a blank game-week. In other news, there was a fossil discovered on the FF247 team. He goes by the name of Jermaine Defoe and his status as an antiquity might not save him from the axe in the near future if he does not start to deliver.

Having recapped how our squad performed last GW, let us now move along to our transfer decision and line-up for the upcoming week.

Transfer for GW27 – Sold Eden Hazard, bought David Silva
We didn’t think we would type the words ‘Sold Eden Hazard’ again this season but such is the cruel nature of the fixture schedule sometimes that tough decisions have to be made. And this one was tough. Well it was until we considered the alternatives. Like most we were / are struggling to balance fielding 11 players this week versus keeping some vital assets on the bench due to the blank game-week / DGW scenario that we are presented with. The obvious thing to do was to ditch Baird for another similarly un-sexy defender and hope for a clean-sheet from the lucky recipient. Either way we were in danger of only fielding 10 players given van Aanholt’s uncertain position and so we decided to think outside of the box and also look ahead to next weeks potential transfers.

Silva has some great fixtures coming up in the shape of Leicester and Burnley whereas Chelsea have some tougher ones. We wouldn’t ever discount Chelsea regardless of the fixtures but we felt this was a small risk worth taking given the situation. The transfer allows a bit of budget flexibility ahead of next week too and will probably allow us to bring in the likes of Eriksen and maybe even a punt on Austin with our 2 free transfers. Without it we’d have been buying a dodgy defender this week and be scratching around for funds to even afford Soldado next week!

Todays PvA news is that he may feature. We may still go with 10 players depending on that but we now have a player who we believe will deliver over the next 3 weeks and the opportunity to buy 2 good DGW players next week.
