Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 27
The pain that was GW26 is over and frankly said, good riddance. Another tough week for the FF247 team and surely this could lead to some sackings. Maybe we can find a LVG type to help with our team selection? Or perhaps Mourinho can help us learn how to deflect blame a bit better. Not sure what we have to do, but this has to turnaround quick. We dropped 864 spots in the overall and are now in 2631th place. That would be a ranking that we should be immensely proud of, but we all know that after seeing the penthouse inside the top 1k, it is hard to go back to just a nice room. So with that said let us access what led to our problems this past GW and put some of our non-performers under the microscope.
In goal we had David Ospina. Once again he did not get us that coveted clean sheet and worse than that, Foster once again did, as those much needed points stared at us from our bench. Luckily (or so we thought) we found out that Phil Jones was passed fit. Unfortunately he continued to struggle to bring in any points for us. As he managed to score us a doughnut. PvA was teamed up with him and it was a fantastic decision to play him as we were correct in thinking that Sunderland could get a cleanie. However we were wrong in thinking he would start. So yeah, thanks for that 3 minute cameo and that one pointer. John Terry was the last of our crew in the back. We were so happy to see a Chelsea defender scored, surely it be Terry this time, right? What?! Ivanovic again, greedy bastard! We thinks we might have went for the wrong Chelsea defender.
In the midfield we did much better. Of course, it be hard not to be better than 5 points from 4 guys like our back line scored. Nevertheless there are still problem spots that we will need to address at some point. Adam Johnson once again blanked and considering the fixtures he just navigated through, one would have expected a much better return. Maybe a match up vs Phil Jones can ignite him in GW27, that always seems to help. A bigger problem might be the slumping Sanchez. His returns have dried up and considering his price tag, he is a player that we will have to keep a close watch on going forward. That penalty the dirty one missed earlier in the season is really proving him costly in FPL, as pens can sometimes save a player from having too many bad scoring weeks. Cazorla has been the beneficiary with 4 goals on penalties since the Alexis miss. With the goal from the spot vs Palace he was able to go double figures after a two game-week stint of 2 pointers. The top player in the game Hazard was able to garner 8 points. Incredibly he has managed all 3 bonus points twice this season, despite only delivering a single assist in said games.
Shifting our attention to our front line we notice that our captain choice did not let us down even if his manager did. It was expected that Kun would be substituted early in preparation for Champions League, but one minute before the 60h minute mark was a bit cruel. It was almost as bad as owning Phil Jones. Moving on to our other strikers we see Kane once again scored. It was just too bad it was after missing the penalty. So only 4 points for Harry in this game but his incredible goal scoring form continues. Only way you can control Kane these days is with a blank game-week. In other news, there was a fossil discovered on the FF247 team. He goes by the name of Jermaine Defoe and his status as an antiquity might not save him from the axe in the near future if he does not start to deliver.
Having recapped how our squad performed last GW, let us now move along to our transfer decision and line-up for the upcoming week.
Transfer for GW27 – Sold Eden Hazard, bought David Silva
We didn’t think we would type the words ‘Sold Eden Hazard’ again this season but such is the cruel nature of the fixture schedule sometimes that tough decisions have to be made. And this one was tough. Well it was until we considered the alternatives. Like most we were / are struggling to balance fielding 11 players this week versus keeping some vital assets on the bench due to the blank game-week / DGW scenario that we are presented with. The obvious thing to do was to ditch Baird for another similarly un-sexy defender and hope for a clean-sheet from the lucky recipient. Either way we were in danger of only fielding 10 players given van Aanholt’s uncertain position and so we decided to think outside of the box and also look ahead to next weeks potential transfers.
Silva has some great fixtures coming up in the shape of Leicester and Burnley whereas Chelsea have some tougher ones. We wouldn’t ever discount Chelsea regardless of the fixtures but we felt this was a small risk worth taking given the situation. The transfer allows a bit of budget flexibility ahead of next week too and will probably allow us to bring in the likes of Eriksen and maybe even a punt on Austin with our 2 free transfers. Without it we’d have been buying a dodgy defender this week and be scratching around for funds to even afford Soldado next week!
Todays PvA news is that he may feature. We may still go with 10 players depending on that but we now have a player who we believe will deliver over the next 3 weeks and the opportunity to buy 2 good DGW players next week.

Noooooooooo FF247 team now you swapping Hazard out for Silva makes me wonder!! Darn you I wanted to have a peaceful breakfast!!!
I got 1FT left and now really considering it….AaAAaAaAaAHhhaAhhhhhHHhHhHh! WIll Silva perform agaisnt Liverpool..can you please guarantee me it or provide some kind of refund system where I can get my FT back?
Good morning!!
Who is the better replacement for wisdom?
Jones
McAuley
Janmaat
Morning Mitro. When in doubt, go Pulis 😉
Lol just worried that I have foster Bertrand so a goal a piece will kill off 16 points!!
Ah yes. I remember now. We chatted about this during the week. Seeing as you’ve got that game covered, maybe take a punt of Newcastle. They do have incredibly bad fixtures after this week so maybe have a punt at Haidara instead of Janmaat as he’s a good amount cheaper. The less money arsing about on your bench, the better.
Sorry NIN!! during those chats wisdom has gone down 0.2!! Wish I did the moves in the week!
Is haidara nailed on??
Ouch. Yeah he’s nailed. Dummett is out injured, long term.
Final team for GW 27! Used both FT on Wasilewski >> Dawson and Hazard >> Silva (decided not to do it but changed my mind when I saw the FF247 team also doing it). Like NIN I’m captaining an Arsenal mid, but instead of Sanchez I’m going with Ozil. So how do I look for this week?
Veer – your cappo choice has confused me even more!! I have sanchez walcott and Ozil!! Was going to go with sanchez!!! Ozil could be a huge differential this week!
Team looks awesome by the way!!
Hi Veer. You’ve got a great set up this week but i would certainly change (c). Ozil is a massive risk, for me.
Thanks guys! I was thinking the same NIN, but I would say Alexis is a much bigger risk 😉 He hasn’t done anything in the last 3 GWs he’s played.
Correct. Sanchez’ form has dropped a bit. One thing can be guaranteed, though, which is that he wont saunter through the game and drift. He’ll be buzzing to get back scoring goals and get Arsenal clicking again. I think he’s a shrewd pick this week. Well, i hope so anyway!!
Do do we know if Hutton will play?
I have a spare FT I could use if not, but if rather keep it…
Thanks!
J.
Morning James. I’m not sure if he will play. How many starters will you have, if he was to miss out?
Hey NIN
Here’s my team. 10 starters if no Hutton.
Cool. I’d keep the FT for next week, when you’ll likely put it to better use for the DGW or bulking up on City. 10 men is okay this week, for me.
That’s probably the sensible option.
I stack up okay against most teams this week – and I’ll have £2 mil in the bank and 2t to reinforce after this weekend.
Yep. Your other 10 are pretty much guaranteed starters, which is something most cannot say this week. You’re well set.
Cheers NIN
Hows your team looking?
See above on post 18
Very nice NIN. And as you say, well set up for future weeks.
You have a high team value?
High-ish. SV is 104.9m.
Morning all, morning James!
Hutton is unlikely apparently. Sherwood described him as ‘touch and go’. Make of that what you will
Get B Bash.
Yep. Not too helpful huh?
Prob is, I won’t need him / his replacement much again in future, so I’m not that excited about using an FT on this. Especially with a dgw coming up.
J.
I’m in a similar situation with PVA and Baird. Still got a ft left and not sure what to do. I will probably carry it to next week, but I have to say, the options for DGW players isn’t that appealing really. Defoe to Austin is the obvious one, but with Spurs schedule and Poc’s mind to rotate, it makes it difficult to pick. Tempting to concentrate all efforts on this gw!
Yep. It isn’t the most exciting dgw huh?
Even quality players like Eriksen or Austin just aren’t proving far reliable.
Kane for cap though!
Morning Basher. How is your team looking this week?
Morning Nin.
Well as my post above describes I’m in a bit of a dilemma! I also shipped out Hazard as it will only cost me 0.1 to get him back, which I will. Not sure whether it will be for Sanchez, but probably ADM.
Howmare you looking?
Di Maria out before Alexis, for me. My team is on post 18 above. Bit iffy, but if all play i should do okay.
MLS mini titbit..
Fernando Aristeguieta – FWD – 7.5m We could well be looking at amazing value here. Predicted to be first team for Philly, and priced wonderfully. Could be one of the early season gems.
Lee Nguyen – MID – 11m Despite not being flagged, Nguyen is recovering from an injury and may miss out on GW1. He was an absolute boss last season so i would imagine he’s in a few of your teams. Procede with caution.
NIN, I refuse to pick players I can’t spell. (Comedian: Oh, so is that why you haven’t got Kane?) This is why Azpillachetta has yet to appear in my FPL side. Unless we agree to call that Philly guy ‘Fernando’. Then I’m good.
Hahaha, i’m sure we can come to some sort of arrangement 😉 This Nguyen injury is really bothering me. Just when i thought i was settled on my midfield, i found out he may miss out. Hopefully he gets a run out in the preseason game today.
Woah, I was just about to brag about how settled my team was, then I logged in to MLS. One of my players, Will Johnson’s broken his leg!!! Poor, poor guy. He’s gonna miss the whole season.
Yeah, really bad injury. He missed quite a bit of last season too if i remember correctly.
And with Valeri out for a while, Timbers are screwed for midfield creativity right now. I’ve put Wallace in for now, but definitely need to rethink things.
Yeah big time. Their fixtures worry me too. First five games are against five really good teams. I thought i was on a winner with Velasquez-Morales-Davis-Nguyen. Hopefully Nguyen makes it.
I know this GW hasn’t even started yet but thinking about my transfers for next week!
Attached is my team and with my 2 FT next week gonna go Baird and Defoe out for Rose & Kane. Is Rose nailed on now in starting 11?
Possible good moves?
Shadow, thats a good team mate.
I think that Rose will share his gametime with Davies. Rose wil probably start the Cup final, so will Davies start on Wednesday?
Ah ok, I’ll keep an eye out on team news for the cup final and see. Just want to get rid of Baird really!
