Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 29

fantasy football team tipsA green arrow!! Drop the confetti people we have finally broken the red arrow streak. After suffering from a run of disappointing weeks we returned to the side of the colour spectrum we prefer. Although it was a small bump up the standings it was still well received. We managed to land in 2554th place after a climb of 208 spots. How did we perform this small miracle? Well let us tell you all about it before we head on over to our team for the upcoming week.

In goal we went with Ben Foster. Like many we were left disappointed with the West Brom defence. Frankly it was hard to not picture a clean sheet. The Baggies specialize in defending and Aston Villa specialise in looking ridiculous when attacking. Oh well, at least Ospina didn’t outscore Foster, so no harm no foul. We used a back 3 for GW28 and were able to find 15 points from the gentlemen and Terry. Clyne brought in 6 points and after he clears CFC in this coming week he has a lot of fixtures where a clean sheet is very possible. PvA came off the bench, as we made the brave decision to start Phil Jones, luckily LVG had a bit more sense…for once. John Terry was our last defender and he once again got a cleanie. That being his 10th in the last 16 games. Now let’s move along to our midfield maestros.

David Silva hit double figures for us and with his remaining schedule if he can remain healthy he should produce a good deal of points over the coming weeks. Sanchez finally awoke from his long nap and scored 8 points. Unfortunately his fellow dwarf Cazorla blanked. With thoughts of Hazard in the back of the minds or front for some, now is not the time to be blanking if you wish to remain employed with the FF247 team. The Viking Eriksen, while not spectacular certainly did his part. A bit unlucky in the QPR game as we saw him hit the post. Puncheon was given a spot on the bench after using up all his assists in the previous game.

Our captain choice did not let us down nor did he for 3 million others for that matter. Harry Kane scored a brace vs QPR as he made up for blanking in the first game of the double. There wasn’t much celebrating though as every time he scored we passed one person in the overall rankings. Probably the guy or two who drank too much before the deadline and left it on Aguero. Our new acquisition Austin did well on paper by scoring 8 points, but if anyone watched him over the two games, well frankly he could have scored about 5 extra goals and tons of points. Our last player was Kun Aguero. While he didn’t really produce anything, incredibly he was an afterthought to a degree and his production almost seemed irrelevant.

Having recapped how our squad performed last GW, let us now move along to our transfer decision and line-up for the upcoming week.

Transfer for GW29 – We have decided to carry it over…
The team itself looks well set for this week apart from one spot at the back which had to be filled be either Jones or Clyne. Ideally we would have sold Jones and benched Clyne for someone with a more realistic chance of a clean sheet but looking around at the options combined with thinking ahead to potential DGW’s and also blank weeks we decided to simply sit still as there are so many unknown factors ahead at this point and so many players we would like as and when the DGW’s come. As such we felt for the sake of a probable 2 pointer in one position, the free transfer will serve us better in the upcoming weeks.

Our team in full…

fantasy football team tips

The majority picked themselves this week. The main debate was the one above – Jones or Clyne. In all honesty we feel both will probably concede this week. Jones has lost his place in recent weeks but we feel he may be set for a return after the Smalling gaffe that allowed Arsenal to progress on Monday night. If he plays then at least it’s a home game and isn’t away at Chelsea! If he doesn’t start then he rarely comes off the United bench so Clyne should just come off ours.

Captain

Our captain this week is Sergio Aguero
Difficult to ignore one of the most potentially explosive players in the league, especially when the opposition is Burnley. The only danger here is that he could get taken off early if everything is wrapped up ahead of City’s Champions League game with Barcelona in midweek

Our vice-captain is Alexis Sanchez
We would probably have gone for Silva but common wisdom is to go for someone from another team just in case something silly happens and the City game is cancelled. Plus he’s hardly a bad replacement!

The team in text format is –
Ospina
Terry van Aanholt Jones
Silva Sanchez (v) Eriksen Cazorla
Kane Aguero (c) Austin

Subs – Foster Puncheon Clyne Baird

Evening Everyone. Who should I sell Eriksen or Sterling? If Sterling I’d bring in Henderson but I don’t think he’ll keep up his point returns and if Eriksen who should I bring in at 6.3 mil? Going to sell Cazorla to Hazard also.

Keep Eriksen in my opinion. Liverpool have a few tough games in the coming weeks and I believe will have a blank coming up, whereas Spurs have some really tantalizing fixtures on the horizon! After ManU this week they have Leicester, Burnley, Vila, Newcastle! #GoalFests

      • MattX says:

Right cheers mate. Do you think I should bring in Henderson or is there someone who is better at 6.3 or less?? Think I’ll miss out on some Liverpool points though as ill have nobody from them.

        • Pancho says:

Just a thought, but what about Philips (QPR)? Play him this week against Palace and next week do JWP -> Downing. WHU have a great 3 game run after this week!

        • MattX says:

Philips could be a good buy but West Ham have really dropped in form lately and I don’t really know about bringing any of them in.

        • denon96 says:

I’d keep Eriksen. For 6.3 or less you might consider Moses or Puncheon (who I have).

        • MattX says:

Right ill have to think about those two not sure who’s fixtures are better just yet might go with Puncheon over Moses.

Seems having 2 Spurs attackers and no Chelsea attack you would have opted for Clyne over Jones so as to not be rooting both for and against your own players in the Spurs/ManU game. Too late now though, you already published the article smile Cheers

It wasn’t mentioned as a point of contention, but I’m wondering if you considered starting Puncheon instead of Eriksen. Do you think that could be a good differential this GW or too risky if the people around me in ML have Eirksen too? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Feeling set on this as my setup for this GW. Any thoughts? Kane as captain for a differential this week could really help the Green Arrow if he delivers :/

You might be better off with Silva or Giroud as differentials United could keep Spurs out. Silva is probably the best choice in my opinion.

      • Pancho says:

If I don’t go Kane then I will probably go Silva, as he’s been great and everyone else is going with Kun. As a Spurs fan I just love captaining my guys so then I am even more excited for goals smile

        • MattX says:

Haha I don’t usually do that with Liverpool players unless it was Sturridge or Suarez last season.

        • Milburn says:

Yeah… as a newcastle fan I tend not to do that too often. Whenever I bet on them they manage to ruin my weekend though!

Nice side. Going for Kane I love. It’s not as if Man. Utd are any great shakes defensively right now.

I’ll be boring and go for City probably but would love Kane to get a double for you. Good luck!

      inittowinit says:

Seriously considering Kane myself. Rival will go Kun and I can see him coming off early. Silva is my fall back if I decide against Kane too.

      • Raziel says:

Stats of Kun coming off early (as you say):
Arse (66 minutes) 1 goal and 6 points.
Hull (77 minutes) 1 goal and 8 points.
Mun (83 minutes) 1 goal and 8 points.
Sun (73 minutes) 2 goals, 1 assist and 16 points.
Che (83 minutes) 1 assist and 5 points.
STK (72 minutes) 2 goals and 11 points.
NEW (59 minutes) 1 goal, 1 assist and 9 points.
Lei (84 minutes) 0 goals, 0 assists and 2 points.

Solely based on the last game, I guess you could be right. All the other games he has delivered. On that note, Kane is Kane. Even without Abel he’s awesome.

        • Raziel says:

Actually, based on stats. It would be better if Kun comes off early. Haha, all the late subs he got the fewest points. smile

        • inittowinit says:

Very interesting that Raz. Basically he does a bit of damage and then buggers off! Reckon that’ll be the case here for sure. Goal, assist, bye. You’d be happy with though as captain.

        • Raziel says:

Coin toss, can fall either way. Only time he didn’t score/assist and was subbed early was in their last game versus Leicester. Also, keep in mind they have Barca next. On that note, this might be a super hard training session before that game, going all out. I know they went all out before they had the homegame versus Barca, they won versus Newcastle 5-0? Correct me if I’m wrong.

        • inittowinit says:

I know Raz, Barca is why he’s having a bath at 6.45pm on Saturday. Not sure Burnley is your archetypal warm up for Barca though! Get what you mean though and they could well push it and notch a cricket score.

        • Pancho says:

This probably has to do with the fact that when he scores/assists a few then they are usually up by 3 and he comes off early. Raz, any chance the stats support that statement?
I don’t see him coming off early in a close game. Has he gone 90 minutes in every close game? If all this is true then the deciding factor would be whether you think it will be a close game or over by the 65th minute?!

      • Init, Silva is just as likely to be subbed off early as Aguero is.
