Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 29
A green arrow!! Drop the confetti people we have finally broken the red arrow streak. After suffering from a run of disappointing weeks we returned to the side of the colour spectrum we prefer. Although it was a small bump up the standings it was still well received. We managed to land in 2554th place after a climb of 208 spots. How did we perform this small miracle? Well let us tell you all about it before we head on over to our team for the upcoming week.
In goal we went with Ben Foster. Like many we were left disappointed with the West Brom defence. Frankly it was hard to not picture a clean sheet. The Baggies specialize in defending and Aston Villa specialise in looking ridiculous when attacking. Oh well, at least Ospina didn’t outscore Foster, so no harm no foul. We used a back 3 for GW28 and were able to find 15 points from the gentlemen and Terry. Clyne brought in 6 points and after he clears CFC in this coming week he has a lot of fixtures where a clean sheet is very possible. PvA came off the bench, as we made the brave decision to start Phil Jones, luckily LVG had a bit more sense…for once. John Terry was our last defender and he once again got a cleanie. That being his 10th in the last 16 games. Now let’s move along to our midfield maestros.
David Silva hit double figures for us and with his remaining schedule if he can remain healthy he should produce a good deal of points over the coming weeks. Sanchez finally awoke from his long nap and scored 8 points. Unfortunately his fellow dwarf Cazorla blanked. With thoughts of Hazard in the back of the minds or front for some, now is not the time to be blanking if you wish to remain employed with the FF247 team. The Viking Eriksen, while not spectacular certainly did his part. A bit unlucky in the QPR game as we saw him hit the post. Puncheon was given a spot on the bench after using up all his assists in the previous game.
Our captain choice did not let us down nor did he for 3 million others for that matter. Harry Kane scored a brace vs QPR as he made up for blanking in the first game of the double. There wasn’t much celebrating though as every time he scored we passed one person in the overall rankings. Probably the guy or two who drank too much before the deadline and left it on Aguero. Our new acquisition Austin did well on paper by scoring 8 points, but if anyone watched him over the two games, well frankly he could have scored about 5 extra goals and tons of points. Our last player was Kun Aguero. While he didn’t really produce anything, incredibly he was an afterthought to a degree and his production almost seemed irrelevant.
Having recapped how our squad performed last GW, let us now move along to our transfer decision and line-up for the upcoming week.
Transfer for GW29 – We have decided to carry it over…
The team itself looks well set for this week apart from one spot at the back which had to be filled be either Jones or Clyne. Ideally we would have sold Jones and benched Clyne for someone with a more realistic chance of a clean sheet but looking around at the options combined with thinking ahead to potential DGW’s and also blank weeks we decided to simply sit still as there are so many unknown factors ahead at this point and so many players we would like as and when the DGW’s come. As such we felt for the sake of a probable 2 pointer in one position, the free transfer will serve us better in the upcoming weeks.
Our team in full…
The majority picked themselves this week. The main debate was the one above – Jones or Clyne. In all honesty we feel both will probably concede this week. Jones has lost his place in recent weeks but we feel he may be set for a return after the Smalling gaffe that allowed Arsenal to progress on Monday night. If he plays then at least it’s a home game and isn’t away at Chelsea! If he doesn’t start then he rarely comes off the United bench so Clyne should just come off ours.
Captain
Our captain this week is Sergio Aguero
Difficult to ignore one of the most potentially explosive players in the league, especially when the opposition is Burnley. The only danger here is that he could get taken off early if everything is wrapped up ahead of City’s Champions League game with Barcelona in midweek
Our vice-captain is Alexis Sanchez
We would probably have gone for Silva but common wisdom is to go for someone from another team just in case something silly happens and the City game is cancelled. Plus he’s hardly a bad replacement!
The team in text format is –
Ospina
Terry van Aanholt Jones
Silva Sanchez (v) Eriksen Cazorla
Kane Aguero (c) Austin
Subs – Foster Puncheon Clyne Baird

RMT?
Have used FT. Want to take a hit over Jones, but he has a home game and a decent chance of starting as Shaw is doubtful. Also I dont think right now we have a lot of options in the defensive area due to confusing fixtures.
B
Play Bertrand?
I would look to get rid of Jones with a FT, but you are good to go for this week without a hit.
Bertrand against Chelsea?
Unless there are two of them ? 😉
Hi B, think you stick here. There aren’t a great many options that both warrant a hit now but also add much for the weeks ahead at this point. Bellerin might do for example if we knew he had a DGW in 31 but we don’t yet.
Looks like my team minus Sanchez, Ivanovic and PANTSUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So you’re good. Jones in any team is super funny by the way. HAHA. MU coverare, loving it. You obviously don’t care about your ranking anymore. 😉
RMT! NO FT’s LEFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Also what ya guys reckon I should do keeping in mind the DGW’s that lie ahead. Guessing the main Q will be if they DGW’s will start GW 31, GW34 (already set with 3 Chelski) and/or GW36. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
Raz,
Like it mate
I am saving up and keeping 2FTs until the DGW picture becomes clearer.
Raz if you switch Erik and Sanchez that keeps the reds in a tighter bunch down the middle and then the whites will be mirroring what the light blues are doing on the other side. Think, man, think. :cuckoo: #aesthetics
True that. Thanks man. That’s the best advise I’ve had on this site, like………………. EVER!
Made the move, doesn’t look all that good. I could play JwP ahead of Eriksen.
What about that time I told you to move your team around, as half of them were playing out of position?
That was helpful. On that note, need to move Iva to rightback, PvA is leftback. Things looking good.
Ok so I took all your suggestions and here I am.
Line up seems ok?
Krul
Terry Dawson PVA
Hazard Eriksen Cazorla Silva
Aguero(c) Kane Austin
bench- FoRster Bertrand Boyd Hutton
cheers guys
Yes nishant.
Thanks Just hope City thrash Burnley
LINE-UP SEEMS OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers Raz. I would take OK as WOOOOOOOWWWWW !!!!!
i like your defence with doubled up.Chelski defence. Makes so much sense as it now looks Mourinho would strengthen up that Brick wall defence even more after being knocked of UCL.
Knocked out of UCL
😉
Here’s my wildcard team for the rest of the season. Lets hear your feedback!
Here’s the thought behind my decisions:
GK/Defence
I chose to double up on Chelsea, Southampton and Palace.
The reason I chose Palace is because the only time I’d need to swap out my 2 Chelsea or Southampton is during:
GW29 (SOU vs CHE to CRY vs QPR)
GW33 (CHE vs MUN to CRY vs WBA)
GW34 (SOU vs TOT to CRY vs HUL)
GW38 (SOU vs MCI to CRY vs SWA)
Midfield:
I went for 4 in-form players and Cambiasso due to his DGW in GW34.
Strikers:
I’ve opted for Kane/Aguero due to it being stupid not to and N’Doye because I think he’s a decent differential with good fixtures.
Hi Jamie, can’t argue with the rationale for any of it in all honesty. Personally I fancy Austin outscores N’Doye between now and the end but there probably won’t be much in it. You’re banking a bit on Zouma getting a spot every week as well really but at the price he’s probably worth the risk. I know he’s been getting games but the other night was interesting in so much as when the chips are down and Jose has to pick his best team for purely footballing reasons Cahill got the nod.
If you’ve played the WC already then so be it but personally I’d have waited until the rest of the DGW had at least been announced.
I like it Jamie. The only thing I’d change is N’doye because of Hull’s fixtures, really bad until the end. And, with a Liverpool win the FA Cup replay, he’ll have a blank gw33.
Why not Sakho? 0.1 cheaper, playing for a better team and nice fixtures apart from gw29 and 33.
RMT!
1FT and 3.1 in the bank.
any transfer suggestions?
Hi KP, I wouldn’t do anything mate. Keep the FT. That and your nice bank balance feels like a strong position to be in at some point in the next few weeks.
+1 😉
++1
Hi all, Wollscheid looks doubtful given Hughes’ comments.
1FT and 0,5m in the bank. Should I save my FT or use it to transfer out Baird?
AT – I’d use the FT on Baird to Dawson and would play him ahead of Wolly.
Alb, unfortunately I only have 4,4m to buy a new defender with or I would have already done that! I was thinking maybe Naughton although his fixture isn’t great this week.
Oops sorry my bad, thought Dawson was still at 4.4… yes, Naughton was my second choice aswell but not good for this week as you say.
Saving the FT seems the wisest decision mate, that’s what I’d do.
Cheers, will save. Bertrand may not be a bad choice anyway.
