Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 30

Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 30Another green arrow!! How did we manage it you may ask? Basically by doing nothing and watching the GW implode on itself. In one of the FPL weeks to forget, we managed to fly up the overall. Well maybe not so much fly as crawl up the standings. 32 miserable spots was what we managed, but hey, that is certainly better than dropping. So we went from 2554 to 2522. But perhaps better than the green arrow, was the fact that we managed to save a transfer heading into GW30. So let’s give a quick recount of where our team went on vacation in GW29.

In goal we went with David Ospina. Luckily for us the Colombian was one of the few that was able to rake in a bit of points. Originally we had Foster in there, but after some debate we opted for Ospina. Foster looked to be a good option also, but Ben didn’t make 60 minutes due to an injury. So the switch ended up working out in our favour. In defence we also had a debate about the last spot. We had Clyne in our first draft, but after some debate (arguing) again, we settled on United legend Phil Jones. United was able to grab a clean sheet and we were the benefactors. So it can be said that if not for a late discussion on our defence/keeper we could have had 10 points less and dropped considerably in the overall. The rest of our backline was filled by PvA and Terry. PvA brought home a doughnut and not the tasty kind that we all enjoy with milk either. Terry grabbed two points in his match up with Southampton. Wouldn’t be so bad if Ivanovic would just stop! John boy, this would be a good time to introduce yourself to Iva’s wife and see if we can’t distract the Serbian…

When we built our midfield, one could say that the magic in our team was comprised of this set of skill players. They performed magic all right, they made all our points disappear. Sanchez, Silva and Eriksen all scored 2 points. Not a very impressive display from our talented mids. On top of that, our last mid was benched. Caz only got 19 minutes of action, despite that he still grabbed an assist and finished with a respectable 4. Please let’s just move on to our forwards, surely it can’t be this bad.

FFS!! Can we talk about Jonesy instead? What a disappointing display from our forwards. Kun, Kane and Austin all blanked and not even having the armband on Aguero helped the 3 of them combine for a double digit score. Jones outscored the three of them combined!! Jones outscored…ah what’s the use. Let’s just put this GW in the rear view mirror and move onto the transfer decision and the captaincy for the upcoming week, if we can please.

Transfer(s) for GW30 – Sold Phil Jones, bought Toby Alderweireld; Sold Alexis Sanchez, bought Eden Hazard
We’ve been taking the proverbial out of Phil Jones ever since we bought him, so this week we’ve decided to put ourselves out of our misery and ditch young Quagmire! He served us well last week picking up a valuable 7 points and while United have been quite solid at the back as of late we felt the time had come to sever our association with Glenn as United have a tough run of fixtures over the coming weeks. His replacement Toby Alderweireld returned to the Saints starting XI last week following a lengthy absence and as a result of that absence his price has dropped to £4.7, making him exceptional value. Southampton have a reasonable run of fixtures through to GW38 and we would expet Toby to return a number of clean sheets over the coming weeks, which will be extremely welcome considering we already have Clyne. Oh, and he’s due a goal! Pencil that one in.

Our 2nd transfer is perhaps a little more controversial, especially as the Goonies & Sanchez face a Newcastle team this weekend who are down to the bare bones. However it was pointed out in our team meeting that while Arsenal always batter the Geordies in London, they often face a tougher game up North. Like so many others we have become disillusioned with the Chilean’s recent returns, just one goal in five games since his return from injury, and so we felt the time had come to cut the cord and set him free. We’ve still got Cazorla if the Gunners do run riot. And it’s not really like we’ve replaced him with a donkey! We sold Hazard back in GW27 when he had a blank, but we always knew he wouldn’t be gone for long. With Chelsea out of the Champions League we feel that Jose will be keen to wrap up the league as soon as possible and Hazard will be central to this. The fact that we had no Chelsea attacking players in our squad was also a factor in making our decision and we need to start building towards their double gameweek in GW34.

Our team in full…

gw-30

The team picked itself this week. We would’ve played Ospina anyway, but with Foster out injured we were left with no choice. With Southampton at home to Burnley doubling up makes sense, and we’ll always pick Terry. In midfield the Puncheon injury sees him sat on our bench, although even if he’d been fully fit he’d have been on the bench. Kun & Kane pick themselves while Charlie could well find the back of the net against Everton. Why not, everyone else does.

Captain

Our captain this week is Harry Kane
We are counting on Spurs bouncing back this week against bottom club Leicester and if/when they do then Harry will surely be a central figure to it all.

Our vice-captain is Sergio Aguero.

The team in text format is –
Ospina
Terry Clyne Alderweireld
Silva Hazard Eriksen Cazorla
Kane(c) Aguero(v) Austin
Subs – Foster Puncheon van Aanholt Baird

Hey guys. I have 0.3mil and 2FT. I’m thinking Bellerin to Alderweireld and then sticking.
Also which 8 attacking players should I field and who should I captain? I’m feeling a bit worried that I might leave some points on the bench…….

      NIN says:

Hey Nosaj. You’re probably guaranteed to leave some points on the bench. Question is, which tally will be the lowest between Cazorla and Downing. Personally, i’d play Downing, but it’s very very marginal. Really close call between the two. Good luck with your choice

OK thanks NIN. And is Bellerin -> Alderweireld a good transfer or should I do something else?

        • NIN says:

Nosaj – Usually, with a team this strong i would suggest bringing in a QPR/Villa mid as a 5th mid this week with a view to the double next week. However, seeing as your 5th is great this week, the Alderweireld switch looks a good bet, especially as you’ve got 2 FT’s, meaning it’d be a shame to waste one at this stage of the season. Fair banker CS for Southampton this week.

OK thanks NIN that’s what I was thinking
