Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 32

Keep it simple, stupid….
Welcome to Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 32. GW31 was good, wasn’t it?! Regardless, we jump straight from famine to feast, in theory anyway. GW32 is our first bumper double game-week, with no less than 10 teams having no more or less than two games to contend with. And then we have another 2 double weeks to get our heads around; GW34 being a relative mini one and GW35 being another bumper one with 8 teams involved. And we have a blank game-week in between all those with 8 teams not playing in GW33. Confused yet?! Worry not if so, we shall straighten it all out for you in the following article. Sort of…

Now, we appreciate that we are catering for about 4 different audiences here; Free Hitters, Wildcarders, neither of the previous and so potentially -4 or -8’ers, or even just Triple Captainers. We can’t really help the latter, we can however help the previous three. Sort of…

So with all those different scenarios in mind let’s try and make sense of what is coming up, if we can. Let’s start with the simples;

Teams who have a double in GW32;
Brighton – Southampton (H), Chelsea (A)
Cardiff – Chelsea (H), Man City (A)
Chelsea – Cardiff (A), Brighton (H)
Crystal Palace – Huddersfield (H), Spurs (A)
Fulham – Man City (H), Watford (A)
Man City – Fulham (A), Cardiff (H)
Man Utd – Watford (H), Wolves (A)
Spurs – Liverpool (A), Crystal Palace (H)
Watford – Man Utd (A), Fulham (A)
Wolves – Burnley (A), Man Utd (H)

Teams who have a double in GW34;
Brighton – Burnley (A), Cardiff (H)
Cardiff – Burnley (A), Brighton (A)

Teams who have a double in GW35;
Arsenal – Crystal Palace (H), Wolves (A)
Brighton – Wolves (A), Spurs (H)
Man City – Spurs (H), Man Utd (A)
Man Utd – Everton (A), Man City (H)
Southampton – Newcastle (A), Watford (A)
Spurs – Man City (A), Brighton (H)
Watford – Huddersfield (A), Southampton (H)
Wolves – Brighton (A), Arsenal (H)

That’s as simple as it gets in terms of who has a double and when.

And now to get complicated…

Teams who have a double in DGW32 AND a game in BGW33;
Chelsea – Cardiff (A), Brighton (H) & West Ham (H)
Crystal Palace – Huddersfield (H), Spurs (A) & Newcastle (A)

For those without a FH chip;

Teams who play (any games at all) in both DGW32 and BGW33;
Arsenal – Newcastle (H), Everton (A)
Bournemouth – Leicester (A), Burnley (H)
Burnley – Wolves (H), Bournemouth (A)
Chelsea – Cardiff (A), Brighton (H) & West Ham (H)
Crystal Palace – Huddersfield (H), Spurs (A) & Newcastle (A)
Everton – West Ham (A), Arsenal (H)
Huddersfield – Crystal Palace (A), Leicester (H)
Leicester Bournemouth (H), Huddersfield (A)
Liverpool – Spurs (H), Southampton (A)
Newcastle – Arsenal (A), Crystal Palace (H)
Southampton – Brighton (A), Liverpool (H)
West Ham – Everton (H), Chelsea (A)

Teams who have a pair of doubles (or more) and when;
Brighton; GW’s 32, 34 and 35
Cardiff; GW’s 32 and 35
Man City; GW’s 32 and 35
Man Utd; GW’s 32 and 35
Spurs; GW’s 32 and 35
Watford; GW’s 32 and 35
Wolves; GW’s 32 and 35

What to make of all that then? In all honesty it’s too much info to make simple, plus there are far too many scenarios to consider, all you can do is take your own situation with both your team and your chips and adapt it accordingly. It’s all become a strange combo of teams playing twice and then not at all and then twice again, sometimes even thrice.

Not to leave you hanging though, here are our (brief) thoughts on the 10 teams who have a double in DGW32 and our ratings for each, in order;

1. Man City – Fulham (A), Cardiff (H)
Hand pick two fixtures that you’d want Man City to have in a double and these would probably be close to it. Maybe both would be at home, if we are being picky, but whatever.

Positives; Both games promise goals aplenty, both should in theory bring clean sheets too.

Negatives; Rotation. In a nutshell. City are still active in three competitions, having already won the first. The other two follow their DGW in quick succession; they have the semi of the FA Cup on the Saturday after they conclude their DGW on Wednesday and then go straight to a CL quarter-final with Spurs on Tuesday. Good luck picking which three play both in DGW32 then….

Fantasy Football Tips2. Chelsea – Cardiff (A), Brighton (H)
Hand pick two fixtures that you’d want Chelsea to have in a double and these would probably be close to it. Maybe the second would be Fulham at home, if we are being picky, but whatever.

Positives; Both games promise goals aplenty, both should in theory bring clean sheets too. Certainly the first should anyway.

Negatives; There are few, really. Chelsea have a PL game in BGW33 but it isn’t until the Monday following the 2nd of their DGW32 games on Wednesday so rotation shouldn’t really be an issue. They have a Europa game on the Thursday but they tend to rotate in those rather than in the league.

3. Brighton – Southampton (H), Chelsea (A)
Probably not the best two fixtures but Brighton get a slot in third place based solely on the fact that they have three doubles on the spin. Albeit with a blank in between them, but buy and stash if you can.

Positives; Three doubles.

Negatives; An FA Cup semi in place of a GW33 fixture possibly means rotation in part 2 of DGW32.

Fantasy Football Tips4. Man Utd – Watford (H), Wolves (A)
The best (maybe only) positive thing about being eliminated from the FA Cup is that you then have carte blanche to concentrate on the league, which is exactly what Ole and co need to do right now.

Positives; Playing two FA Cup semi-finalists, neither of whom have anything much left to contest in the league.

Negatives; Nothing really, other than waiting to confirm who is fit and who isn’t (Rashford / Lukaku) and whose wife is dropping and when (Lindelof).

5. Spurs – Liverpool (A), Crystal Palace (H)
We’re coming home; football’s coming home, etc. Maybe.

Spurs have two doubles, but blank in GW33.

Positives; Have much to play for and will be massively up for their first ‘home’ game, should it transpire.

Negatives; Aren’t in the best of form.

6. Crystal Palace – Huddersfield (H), Spurs (A)

Positives; Have Huddersfield at home in part 1.

Negatives; Have Spurs away in part 2.

Fantasy Football Tips7. Watford – Man Utd (A), Fulham (A)

Positives; Have Fulham away in part 2.

Negatives; Have an FA Cup semi after Fulham and so will probably prioritise that and rest everybody against Fulham.

8. Wolves – Burnley (A), Man Utd (H)

Positives; Have a double GW, in theory.

Negatives; Don’t actually have a DGW as they will rest and rotate like heck.

9. Fulham – Man City (H), Watford (A)

Positives; Will throw everything at these games, no rotation is expected. They may play Watford reserves in the second.

Negatives; They have little to throw, and will get hammered by City at the very least.

10. Cardiff – Chelsea (H), Man City (A)

Positives; None.

Negatives; They are Cardiff. And they play Chelsea and Man City.

There isn’t a definitive answer as to how to approach all this, apologies if you came looking for one but there just isn’t really. Realistically it’s a case by case basis, your best bet is to post your team, your chip situation, your bank and your aspirations in the comments below and talk it through with everyone else.

    For Lindelöf’s owners, found an interesting piece of analysis, more hilarious than anything else. Infact I would put it as amazingly crazy.

    Ok, still struggling…lol
    2 spaces to fill, and 2.1m ITB.
    what can I do, other than start all over again…lol

      You need to start again. Decide what formation you want to play.

      Just er pay homage to someone else’s team if you’re stuck. Fill the bench with cheapos. But if you read back you’ll get plenty of inspiration.

      Astound us.

      • hammerfan_lm says:

        I’m running out of time Kralin…lol
        I’ve tried lots of different variations.
        might just have to put in some cheap 1 game players and pray my big double gamers get me the goals and points

        • inittowinit says:

          You’ve got a similar TV to me, I’ve had about 3 variations so far that I’ve been reasonably happy with, and seen loads of others on here that I’d be just as happy to go with. You need to lose Kane, essentially, and take it from there. Those with a TV a couple or three mil higher look ok to include him, just cut the cloth accordingly. My latest is attached, albeit it will no doubt change a little bit yet.

        • hammerfan_lm says:

          Looks a decent team Init.
          should I not be concerned with the lack of spurs coverage?

        • inittowinit says:

          Maybe, but then that simply leaves you concerned at the lack of others, or in the case of Kane the lack of two or three others.

        • Kralin says:

          You’ve got bags of time, as you know full well. Just try to trick the system, hammerfan_lm. Get the side set up as you posted and try to autocomplete. On the 5,000 attempt it may give up and let you sneak through a couple of randon variables floating round in the system.

          I don’t know why I’m bothering because your question about Kane is a harbinger of many more similar (seemingly ingenuous) questions, I’m sure. But just copy I’s team, which is absolutely sound, and then play round with some options. If you want a Spurs player just get one. They’re actually handy differentials.

        • hammerfan_lm says:

          ok, yet another attempt, with no Spurs players!!

    Evening

    Should I be worried about jiminez being rotated in one of his games? I could do him to bats.

    Who would you prefer out of Kane and hazard?

    This is my current FH team.

      Smash says:

      I’d be worried about Jimenez starting either. I prefer Hazard. It’s a good team though

    • 33.2
      Kralin says:

      Hazard for me though that’s a good team.

      I’ve been playing round with B and D Silva; B Silva enables a bit more elsewhere I’m finding. David Silva will be more rested though (I think) which is giving him the edge for me.

    MattX says:

    Evening everyone. Not really doing a 5th draft just yet but I’m looking into what are the priorities a FH team should have, what do we think of this list? Am I missing anything?

    1. Sterling, Ageuro and some form of City cover
    2. Haz and Chelsea defensive cover
    3. Pogba
    4. Schlupp or Wan Bisska

    • 34.1
      Kralin says:

      That’s about it apart from a bit more Man U – Rashford or Smalling, or both, for example. Not bad games.

      Biggest debate I’m having is whether to play it safe and get the City goalie or take a minor risk and go for David Silva.

    • 34.2
      Smash says:

      About right for me. Looking at it you stick Aguero, Sterling and Hazard in there. Add a City, Chelsea and United defender in there. Schlupp prob worth the punt over WB but depends on cash. Then fill the gaps in around that. If you have high team value I think you have the Kane luxury but don’t see him as essential coz of the fixtures

    • 34.3
      MattX says:

      Oh don’t know how this post got split into two but cheers boys. I did a basic image of what the team could look like with these priorities filled in.

    5. 4 fodder players,

    So the team would look something like this

    Ederson
    Luiz, Schlupp, ???,
    Haz, Pogba, Sterling, ???
    Ageuro, ??, ??

    Bench: Hamer, Simpson, Connolly, Oriel Romeu

    What formation are people leaning toward?

    DMC says:

    Ross Barkley anyone?

      Kralin says:

      I’d go for Kante if I were looking for a cheap Chelsea midfielder to enable other things.

      I’m more in the Chelsea goalie/defender/Hazard camp at the moment.

      • DMC says:

        But none of them assisted and braced this evening!

        He’s no where near my team though…

        Harry Kane though seems to score everytime he’s on a football pitch atm so I’m convinced to find a way to have him in.

        • Kralin says:

          Yes, but international form is another kettle of fish. Have suddenly woken up to why you mentioned Barkley earlier. I’m barely following what’s happening in the internationals, bar keeping an eye open for injuries. Playing time a vague concern.

          Kane’s a fine pick if you can get him in without compromising everything else. But he only seems an option for the very rich.

        • DMC says:

          Well, I do look at the international form a bit, mainy for minutes but if a player in domestic form scores while with the national team it tells me that he’s still in form; whereas a players that isn’t and doesn’t tells me that he’s still out of it. Kane and Sterling scoring for example tell me that the form vein is still flowing very well and we know that an in form Kane can score everywhere. And it’s not like Liverpool are keeping clean sheets. On the money front, I here you. I had a draft a few days back with 4-3-3 that had him in a looked decent. Here it is, what say you?

        • DMC says:

          Obi Wan can be Schlupp.

        • Kralin says:

          I’m very lazy, DMC. I wasn’t even aware England were playing tonight.

          I’m tuning out for now but will take a gander at your side in the morning.

        • Kralin says:

          Thanks for bearing with me.

          I think your side is ok and you’ve shown a way for us plebs to get Kane; up to now he only seemed to be available to the wealthier managers amongst us. I like the fact you’ve gone slightly against the stream and presented a non-template side. It’s refreshing.

          However of course to do so you’ve made some big compromises. The goalie’s not a bad punt I think but it’s a real fingers crossed situation with the rest of the defence, other than Laporte.

          Similarly Stephens in midfield. He’s probably not going to get you a lot of points.

          So I suppose you need Kane to score fairly big to justify the likes of Stephens, Dunk et al.

          Personally I’d ditch him and look at what you can do without him. I appreciate in doing that though you’re essentialy following the template. And that’s all very predictable. If you’re not chasing OR and in control of your ML then you’ll probably be ok.
