Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 2.
If you made it from GW1 to GW2 then that probably either means you scored well in GW1 and are still full of beans having done so or that you are simply a proper FPL player and know that you will make it to GW38 regardless. Either way GW2 is upon us so let’s go see how the weekend pans out…

Arsenal’s reserve team got off to a good start with 3 points away at Newcastle and they clash in the days early game with a bouyant Burnley side who beat Southampton 3-0 in their own first game.

3pm sees us with five games but with the exception of Liverpool it’s a list of the ‘also-rans’ again. There’s definitely a pattern developing here… Villa host Bournemouth with both looking for their first win, Everton host Watford with both looking for their first win, Norwich host Newcastle with both looking for their first win, Brighton host West Ham with both looking for their first win, (oh hang on, Brighton won?!) West ham looking for their first win. Southampton host Liverpool and of course the hosts are looking for their first win. They’ll still be looking next week too.

The evening game is argueably the first big clash of the titans this season as Man City host Spurs.

Sunday sees Sheffield United and Palace get us going at 2pm, with both teams looking for their first win. That is followed at 4.30pm by Chelsea and Leicester, with… yeah, you guessed it, both teams looking for their first win!

We go to Monday this time too as Wolves host Man United in a mouth watering clash.

The games in full…

  1. Ok GW2 not so good. Am not panicking but just think I need to wildcard early. Can anyone recommend a starting eleven please :help:
    Based on form/fixtures

    • Maybe this ?

    • I wouldn’t panic into a wildcard. Most of your team is fine. I didn’t have the best of days yesterday – bang on the average – but think that a mini wildcard with 2FTs, maybe a hit, will be sufficient to sort things out. I’ve never minded poor / average GW much. They help breed a more patient philosophy towards the game.

      • I do have 2ft any advice to boost prospects for next GW?

        Pukki on fire
        ManU good fixtures
        Mane back to form etc

So many players I wanna get, just thought I can get some price and inform players.

        #stillnotpanicking :suicide:

        • The thing is Phoenix, there’ll be more or better in-form players and price rises next week too and we can’t wildcard every week!

Mind over matter. You don’t need to dive in. Let’s see where we are after today and tomorrow’s games.

        • Just chill, dude. I’m going to let the GW settle down and will have a proper think after Monday’s game. I want to get another City player in; not sure how I’m going to enable it. I’m hoping Leicester and Chelsea give us a thriller later.

      • Salah>Mane ?
        King> ???
        Fraser> Martial ?

    • Phoenix I have 10 of the same players from your squad in mine. Trust me you don’t need to wildcard.

      • Thank Neilos.

        What’s your plan man ??

  2. Just woke up to a 6.7 Pukki!!

  3. So who jumped on the Pukki bandwagon last night? I havent (yet anyway). My 2 Bournemouth seem more pressing than Jota to replace and havent decided on Kane (out) or KDB (in).

Newcastle also looked brutal on MOTD. Were Norwich that good or Newcastle that bad?

    • I did, Wood blanks when Burnley scored three goals and only plays 60 mins the next game so he got sacked…

Promised myself to not take hits and no early transfers ahead of this season…

Well well… Pukki could go up a few 0.1’s more until next deadline, so lets hope there’s no injuries today. But I am a bit worried about zinchenko…

    • I thought Norwich were good going forward against Pool, so I’d reckon they were good against Castle as well… (didn’t see the game, mind smile )

  4. So, I made some early transfers last night before the price changes. I had 2FT, but decided a mini-WC for a -4 was good business:

King > Pukki (Always planned to dump King in GW3 for whichever form striker appeared. I know Pukki has tricky fixtures, but if NOR score he seems more certain to be involved, whereas if BOU score it could be Wilson, Fraser (or Captain Mainwaring :grinsmile stealing points off King.
Moura > Trossard (Like King, Moura was a bit of a placeholder mainly for the GW1 fixture. Him not starting yesterday confirms my concerns about his gametime, and that’s without Son back from suspension, Alli back from injury and Lo Celso being match fit for a start. Moura had to go).
Siggy > KDB (Had KDB in my original draft team but upgraded him to Sterling. I now think having both is the way forward. Not 100% happy losing Siggy, but he has no returns yet and I think KDB will outpoint him in the long term, so the upgrade seems worthwhile).

I know the risks with early transfers, but I knew what I wanted to do and I am happy with the new squad. Also, doing it now means I don’t have to agonise over the coming week. I’m trying to limit the time I spend on FPL this season, as I’m trying to finish writing a novel and FPL has been a highly detrimental (although highly enjoyable) distraction in the past.

Anyway, here are my new little chipsters

    • I was pondering on very similar moves, but then realized I had drank too much red wine and thought my judgment was clouded, but having woken up today I still like those moves… Only now Pukki is 0.1m more expensive… I want to get KDB as well, think he might rise tonight…. Really like your team! Good luck with injuries and all the risk that comes with early transfers!!

    • Trossard? You sure he’ll start every week?

      • He scored two goals yesterday on his first start (albeit one ruled out by VAR for offside) so I think that stands him in pretty good stead. He seemed a decent punt at that price point.

        • His pre season form was great but Potter’s reasons for leaving him out of the opening game would worry me

        • Well, maybe Trossard was a mistake, but he was really an enabler to afford KDB, so I wouldn’t be devastated if the punt backfired.

It may be that Trossard and Adams (my two puntiest picks) are the next two casualties if they don’t deliver the goods in the next couple of weeks. I could downgrade one to a £4.5m option and upgrade the other. But we’ll see.

    • Good team

    • Good looking team based on the 1.5 GWs. Hopefully you don’t get any injuries between now and the GW3 deadline.

  5. The original Site Team had Ceballos and I almost bought him on the back of that. Then I read that one of the selectors (unnamed) over-ruled the selection. 11 points in GW2 has made Ceballos a very sought after player.
Differences of opinion are to be valued. Pep and Kun appeared to have found a good way forward yesterday. Hopefully such a positive make-up will be seen at this week’s selection meeting. smile

    • I believe they only took him out because he was injured and he did not play GW1. Looks a decent option now

    • @Leprechaun, It was because of the injury and the thought that he would not start GW1 and we weren’t sure when Emery would start him. I love Ceballos (as a Madrid fan) and want him to do well, would have been for having him, but knew that he would not start so I was for changing him. Another person or two were also for changing him, the person who originally recommended him was unaware of his status before GW1, I believe. For now him and McGinn have produced close to the same, so the person that came in for him, hasn’t done too shabby.

      • Thanks Mito.
I am only teasing you guys – it’s a habit of mine smile
Ceballos looks like he could be very good in EPL and especially the way Arsenal play.

  6. Morning all,
    Now then, where to go….
    £1itb and 2ft
    POPE, RYAN
    ROBBO, GOMEZ, KWP, LUNDSTRAM, ZINCHENKO
    SALAH, STERLING, PEREZ, CAPOUE, HAYDEN
    KANE, KING, AYEW

Looking at 2 options. I’m concerned by the 2 Liv defenders (and I think I have the wrong ones) and am thinking VVD and Digne from Robbo and Gomez, keeping £1mln available for a Capoue upgrade to £6mln (possibly James of Utd – will wait to see how the Wolves game goes 1st)

    OR,

I’m tempted by Salah to De Bruyne and then to retain L’pool attacking presence King to Firmino. Then Gomez to Digne.

Both of the above would cost -4.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated guys

    HarryP

    • You’d have to wait to see what the true picture is on Digne. I’m not buying this ‘I’m tired it’s time to come off’ crap.

Didn’t everyone do this with Salah last season because he blanked a couple of times? Before then getting a hat-trick.
