Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 2.
If you made it from GW1 to GW2 then that probably either means you scored well in GW1 and are still full of beans having done so or that you are simply a proper FPL player and know that you will make it to GW38 regardless. Either way GW2 is upon us so let’s go see how the weekend pans out…

Arsenal’s reserve team got off to a good start with 3 points away at Newcastle and they clash in the days early game with a bouyant Burnley side who beat Southampton 3-0 in their own first game.

3pm sees us with five games but with the exception of Liverpool it’s a list of the ‘also-rans’ again. There’s definitely a pattern developing here… Villa host Bournemouth with both looking for their first win, Everton host Watford with both looking for their first win, Norwich host Newcastle with both looking for their first win, Brighton host West Ham with both looking for their first win, (oh hang on, Brighton won?!) West ham looking for their first win. Southampton host Liverpool and of course the hosts are looking for their first win. They’ll still be looking next week too.

The evening game is argueably the first big clash of the titans this season as Man City host Spurs.

Sunday sees Sheffield United and Palace get us going at 2pm, with both teams looking for their first win. That is followed at 4.30pm by Chelsea and Leicester, with… yeah, you guessed it, both teams looking for their first win!

We go to Monday this time too as Wolves host Man United in a mouth watering clash.

The games in full…

Really not sure what to do this week. Perez has good enough fixtures for me to want to give him the benefit of doubt. Martial was pretty quiet in the second half but then I’m not sure if Rashford is worth the extra money over Martial.

A major sticking point is Digne too – it seems risky to make early transfers only to have him to deal with later in the week.

I hate how many people make early transfers. It’s so pointless and forces the patient player’s hand 😆

It seems like people are (making early moves) but loads won’t be. I can understand it from a TV perspective but I quite like to think my moves through a bit more. I’ve made too many hot-headed mistakes in the past.

      • AT says:

I just don’t understand the logic. Obviously once others do it and the price is at risk of going up it makes sense but just doing it is bizarre! I guess people don’t care about the game as much as we do and fear that they might forget!

        • Kralin says:

That’s exactly what it is, AT – they just don’t care. Like Robert Mitchum.

No, more soberly, I’ve made many an early move myself, in the dark days, worried about missing out on this week’s events miraculously happening again in the next GW, despite fixtures and the general law of averages suggesting otherwise.

Perhaps more seriously, being priced out of a price rise can sometimes be a blessing in disguise. Though not always, obviously.

I agree At, and I’ve been kind of forced to make early moves this week due to price raises, although I would have prefer to wait.
On your list of concerns, I’ve watched Perez and he really didn’t look good at all so far. He was on top of my list to move out, but time will tell.

Want KDB in ….would you rather have Salah & Perez or Mane & KDB? It would mean downgrading VVD to Lundstrom(yeah …I know!) but I do have TAA, Zinchenko & Digne in defence and would be playing a 3-5-2 with Lundstrom just as cover on the bench!?
Also would you put Barnes in over Jota? I really like Jota but his BPS has been rubbish, he took ages to get going last season and Europe is obviously a factor this season too
    Cheers

TAA to a cheapie def. I’d keep VVD.
