Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 2
Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 2.
If you made it from GW1 to GW2 then that probably either means you scored well in GW1 and are still full of beans having done so or that you are simply a proper FPL player and know that you will make it to GW38 regardless. Either way GW2 is upon us so let’s go see how the weekend pans out…
Arsenal’s reserve team got off to a good start with 3 points away at Newcastle and they clash in the days early game with a bouyant Burnley side who beat Southampton 3-0 in their own first game.
3pm sees us with five games but with the exception of Liverpool it’s a list of the ‘also-rans’ again. There’s definitely a pattern developing here… Villa host Bournemouth with both looking for their first win, Everton host Watford with both looking for their first win, Norwich host Newcastle with both looking for their first win, Brighton host West Ham with both looking for their first win, (oh hang on, Brighton won?!) West ham looking for their first win. Southampton host Liverpool and of course the hosts are looking for their first win. They’ll still be looking next week too.
The evening game is argueably the first big clash of the titans this season as Man City host Spurs.
Sunday sees Sheffield United and Palace get us going at 2pm, with both teams looking for their first win. That is followed at 4.30pm by Chelsea and Leicester, with… yeah, you guessed it, both teams looking for their first win!
We go to Monday this time too as Wolves host Man United in a mouth watering clash.
The games in full…

Wanted to get kdb in and was thinking last night to take out robbo and Fraser for kwp and kdb but thought robbo might still come good. Now with price changes I can’t afford it unless I do a -4 and take out Wilson too. Bit of a dilemma. Any advice?
Because you haven’t done it immediately (and that’s no bad thing), I would wait out the week now and make transfers on Friday.
KWP could become any number of competent 4.5mln defenders so you have some wiggle room.
Aaargh I start with zero points in the regulars league? :big-lol:
Lads, thoughts on this transfer?
Fraser – Mount.
1FT. Chelsea fixtures looking better and Mount seems to be involved in most of their attack. Or just hold on and save 2 FT?
I’m still concerned about Barkley and Mount rotating
I do agree with this.
At least Fraser is completely guaranteed to play.
Thinking I need to get Sterling in, but not sure how.
I have Ft x 2, and ITB – 0m
I dont want to destroy the team too much.
Any ideas?
Hammer
Sigurdsson to Sterling and Aguero to Pukki jumping out at me here.
Thats a good suggestion.
Siggy has good games coming up, but hasnt done much from what I have seen.
I would hate to lose Aguero, but would still have B.Silva.
Leaves attack slightly weaker, and Pukki’s fixtures not best the next few.
Still a possible transfer strategy for this week though, thanks.
Any more from anyone?
Only way i’m seeing sterling getting in there is dropping aguero.
Unless you go cheaper and maybe go siggy to ceballos and b.silva to kdb which allows you to keep aguero but i would go gallants approach yeah pukki has tough fixtures but he has already scored against the best defence in english football last season
Cheers Rogueblood. Another option.
The more options I have, the more I have to mull over during the week.
So far GP’s idea is probably the best, even though Pukki’s upcoming fixtures arent brilliant. Against Chelsea anything is possible though.
the big question is though
who is the best person to have: Sterling or Aguero, or both?
Really trying to improve at FPL. Still a relative newbie and I have a few questions. Sorry for the rambling. From what I’ve read it’s not always best to do early transfers. I was tempted last night to bring in kdb but waited because I have digne and zinchenko so was worried about injury situation. Kdb has gone up in price now. How important do you view early transfers?
Next question is concerning bandwagon/knee jerk transfers. Obviously pukki is on fire is he now considered a must have. Thought I’d wait it out due to his fixtures but is that how you get ahead in FPL? As soon as anyone shows some good form you look to get them in. And do I give Fraser and Wilson more time?
My first season I did loads of transfers. Took a number of hitsand got rid of players quickly who weren’t performing and brought in the in form players. Ended up with a rank of around 300k. Felt I was being to rash and not giving players a chance. Second season hardly took any hits and tried to be a bit more composed and finished around 6500.
Finding it hard to draw the line between what is a good move and what is a knee jerk. How would you proceed this week with my team and 2ft 0itb
I’ve answered your original post Mr Majeka.
The other questions – this is FPL. It’s no exact science.

I think there are some interesting questions here. It’s kind of all relative. It depends on the week how many fixtures there are between the next GW and who has them. It’s unlikely a player gets injured in training but it can happen. Zinchenko has said it’s cramp so he’s fine. As for Digne he’s a doubt but is it the end of the world if Dendoncker gets a game. Would you want to remove Digne. Hits can be fine if you want the player for more than one week. For me I tend to like to wait till weds/thurs night on transfers but it depends on who is rising. I think the Bournemouth players are overpriced I had them because of the fixtures and what they are capable of. They did not perform massively against two of the weaker teams so I have ditched them. As for Pukki he looks the real deal in an attacking Norwich team so I thought why wait his movement looks really good and his finishes have been spectacular so there is a lot of potential for him. To score a lot goals
MrMajeka,
I think GP’s comment that it isn’t an exact science covers it pretty well.
On the early transfer front, in my first season, I spent till Christmas making early transfers and taking weekly points hits to raise TV, then played careful and finished 10k. In the two seasons since, I’ve ignored TV, waited till Friday for transfers with minimum hits, and finished 40k and 100k.
In your team, I think Fraser, Perez, Wilson and Jota could all be options to change at this point, but Pukki is the only player across those positions, in that price point, who I could definitely see outperforming the other 4.
39 points so far with lundstram and dendonka coming on for locadia and gomez plus martial playing tonight. Should finish on a good score.
Anyways look onwards I have 2 fts and unhappy with locadia and gomez’s playing time. Looking at going for a 4.5 mil Def. Soyuncu or balbuena/Diop. And upgrading locadia to a 6.5mil forward. I’ve missed out on Barnes and pukka with their price rises. Who else is a good option? Is DCL likely to keep starting for a few games? Who looks the best option at Sheffield? Or should I stick with brighton and bring in murray?
Any help would be appreciated.
Wesley or Adams maybe. Maupay is decent as well.
What about Gomez to a risky 4.0 (Hanley) and Locadia to Pukki?
Klose is close to being back which means hanly as a regular starter will likely only be for the next game or two. I hadn’t considered Adams. Good shout.
Yep it is risky but gets you Pukki
