We doubt there will be many FPL fans left now then, such was the excitement and intrigue of the new ‘Nations League’, or whatever it is called. 16 groups of teams, some in groups of 4, some in 3, some can get promoted, some can get relegated, some can get into the Euros but only if they haven’t already and if they have then someone else can instead, who did worse. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah…

Just in case anyone is indeed still interested then… FPL IS BACK! Thank goodness.

Saturday will see the majority of our FPL interest hit the field. ‘Super Sunday’ looks like it’s having a breather and is followed closely by its cousin ‘Mundane Monday’…

Spurs and Liverpool get us underway at lunchtime in what should be a very tasty appetiser. 3pm then sees Bournemouth and Leicester no doubt sharing a fair few goals, Chelsea probably starving Cardiff of any, Huddersfield hoping that Zaha’s brother doesn’t actually make a habit of DM’ing correct injury news about his sibling, Man City struggling to derail the Mitro train before slamming in a shed load of their own to render it unimportant anyway and then Newcastle and Rafa setting up a cricket formation around Cech with a silly point, silly mid off, silly mid on and a short leg. High flying Watford then host Man United in the evening game to see Saturday out for us, and just perhaps Jose too.

Wolves and Burnley is the early ‘Super Sunday’ game. Is it possible for a team to actually concede less than zero goals? We may well find out. Everton and West Ham will provide your late Sunday ‘entertainment’.

The lack of any tangible FPL involvement in the post Saturday TV games continues through to Monday for the south coast derby between Southampton and Brighton. Even if you don’t actually own Ings you’ll probably be praying for him to score by this point just so you can pretend to have something to say about it all!

If reports of Agüero and Mendy both having knocks are legit, this game is about to open up.

    Who would you go for?

    • 97.1

We’ll find out on Wednesday. Some speculations are already circulating.

      • Kralin says:

Depends on the severity of their injuries, if in fact they are injured. A week is a long time in the world of high-tech medical procedures. Kun is arguably a huge rotation risk next weekend anyway as he’s started all their games so far (I know that’s a bit law of averages). So if the injuries don’t look too bad it may worth riding it out and letting superdudes like WB step in heroically.

However if Mendy is going to be absent for a while I’d be looking at Walker or possibly one of the Arsenal defenders or go cheap and use the money elsewhere. Hard to tell.

Aguero then in my case I’d probably go cheap and use the money to get Hazard. Or Sterling. Or Auba. I doubt I’d want to lose two City players.

What are you thinking? Who would you replace them with?

        • elcfc says:

Initially I was think Lukaku, but now you say that I wouldn’t want to lose two City players!

Could go Mendy to Walker, Walcott to David Silva, and Agüero to Laca/Firmino!.

          What do you to that?

A good week for those that have Hazard. Chelsea seem to be a threat this year.

FFFix showing my rank as 68k but real rank is 84k. They usually are around accurate.. especially if the top 10k points are 7 less than yours, i could not see why the rank was not increased substantially from 89k.

Have made early transfers (-4) before the price changes. Firmino to Mitrovic – B. Silva to Fraser – Mkhi to Hazard. Chelsea are looking good and Hazard hard to ignore. Was thinking Kane but he fails my sight test at present.

    In-form players look HAPPY …..
To me, Salah has lost his smile … I’m concerned that he may have a very ordinary season this time round !!

      Kralin says:

A bit premature to write him off. He’s had an utterly humongous amount of goal attempts and is a continual menace to other side’s defences. It’s disappointing he’s not hauling but I think it will work out. My captain for next week – are you dropping him / thinking of someone else?

      constantine says:

Salah’s stats are too good to not to consider him for the game against Soton. Unlucky is the word. Giving him the captain band myself

      • Kralin says:

Same with me, though I don’t have Hazard, who has an equally tasty fixture.

I can see the fantasy community splitting into two camps this week, captain Hazard or Salah. Both are really good choices.

But Europe may force our hands.

      • Smash says:

Yeah my only concern was Mane not passing the ball to Salah when he probably should. He’s got to be close to big points

      • Brookyboy says:

Good stats are great but actual fpl points are better. If he was still 8.5m then yeah ok we can give him more time but at 13m we expect more.A lot more.He is out of form.Doesnt help when his team mate who is out scoring him comes in at 3m cheaper.
I’m starting to look at it this way,i can have Salah and Maddison for 19.6m or Hazard and Silva.

        • Smash says:

          Southampton at home next though

        • Kralin says:

A similar argument was trotted out about Kane last year and loads of people got rid of him. Kun has gone through lean spells in the past. These things tend to balance out.

I’m going to review Salah after GW6 because I like the look of Kane in weeks 7 and 8, or just swapping to Sterling/Hazard etc. I dunno yet.

I feel fairly relaxed because there are 10 other starters to get me points.

I have sold him last night for Hazard, was angry did not have him for yesterday. Plus I did Mkhi for Frazer. Thinking about WC, have not pressed the button yet. Is it better tao wait or shall I press the button!

      Kralin says:

Entirely up to you. I’d hold your horses for now though.

It’s worth being patient. King and Firmino both delivered for me yesterday when many managers had shed them. I can understand why they got rid of them but I think you need to give players a decent run. I look at the points they get over a period of games rather than on a game by game basis. It is frustrating seeing someone get tons of points – I may well have brought Fraser in this week (5), but was worried about his injury – but I think you need to play the long game. That’s one of the things I really like about it.
